I'll never forget when Maximilian first did this boss on his channel the second I heard the way this game sounds and the Graphic style I knew...we we in the wicked Capcom vs SNK old style Millennium Tournament and the second I heard Rugal I was like yeah its about to get real REAL FAST!

It has to be mentioned, he almost took the round out of God Rugal with just Ken. That is 100% IMPRESSIVE in it's own right. We all know that it always goes downhill from there until it doesnt.
If a final boss starts killing Akuma, you're gonna have a bad time.
I remember having this feeling of darkness when I first fought God Rugal in this game and Gill in SF3... Those two guys aren't fare.

Aside from being inherently broken (faster movement, overall greater frame advantages, no stun...), the boss version of God Rugal has a ratio rating of 4 (the max possible ratio in this game), so it's no surprise that his health and his damage will be insane. In comparison, Smug's first two characters had a ratio rating of 1 (the lowest). That's why Rugal melted Ryo's health bar like butter.
Yeah absolutely, the first time i beat this boss was with 4 tier sagat... Which wasn't my main and i usually played 3 team. It took me quite a while to beat him with my standard 3. Which was Joe, Kim, Yamazaki in that order.

Also Smug, this is how you unlock Shin Akuma: Obtain 1500 or 2k GP after the Osaka fight with a SNK character lead. Or with a SNK Groove.

At the "What was that" moment with Ken, that's a glitch called "Roll Cancelling". It is done when you activate either a personal action or special attack during the first 5 frames of the roll-- this will cause the follow action to be imposed on the passive mechanics (this cause the invincibility of rolling).
If you want a challenge, try beating the game with Vice, Yamazaki, and Kyosuke. That team is struggle incarnate.
Ive gotten Shin Akuma regardless of who I play with, I think that’s a myth.

I used to own both the Dream Cast and the PS2 version, and had a best friend that owned the Game Cube version. There was slight mechanical differences over each version as it continually got updated, but the requirements stayed the same.
I never played the arcade version, but recently I saw Justin Wonggg play through it and face them both at a stupid low GP (like 300 - 500).
I played the console games extensively. You can't play the extra battle unless you are above 4 stars, and you can't play the final battle unless you are above 6 stars. I can tell you that is not a myth. You can control who you fight.
The more I recall I am certain that it depends on the groove; Capcom grooves face Rugal and SNK grooves face Shin Akuma.
Vice and Yamazaki are both good (especially Yamazaki) what are you talking about?
@@haydenhyde9395 Yeah, if you know how to use them. They are good in pvp matches, but bad at obtaining GP.
For Yamazaki, unless you run S-groove and spam dramatic finishes and supers, your GP isn't going to climb very high. After the second consecutive solo attack, GP will start to go down.
Same with Vice but with P groove (which he can't use if he wants Shin Akuma) and parry to command throw. For some reason Vice dosen't generate much GP and her three hit combos always have a decrease of GP on the third hit, unless it is her extention.
The GP is weird. It favors long combos, constant agreession, and liberal use of super meter.
And finally that's one of my favorite teams. That's why I was ask him to try it. Getting 2k GP on 8 stars is struggle unless you use P-groove.

This boss was what i was expecting SF5 last character to be like....instead we got...who cares
He's playing as if it was SFV. That's not going to work in this game, against this boss. You need to be more aggressive, leading the game at your rythm. Playing the paced, careful pace of SFV pro matches, is useless against God Rugal. And he wasn't even that cheap compared to other SNK bosses.

I've played this on GC and PS2. Ultimate Rugal is one of the best bosses of all time for me. I loved how much damage his moves did, making it a hella fun fight. He has a great theme too, which makes for one of my favorite battles in a fighting game.

Don't know if anyone else told you but If you want to fight shin akume you need to use snk characters then he shows up and same concept for rugal, capcom characters
It's based on the point system. If you have over 2200 shin akuma appears
If you want to fight Shin Akuma, pick all Capcom characters
If you want God Rugal, pick all SNK characters
I did tournaments for this game and came first in some of them. But I kid you not Ultra Rugal is worse than Shin Akuma. Especially on the highest settings. This is where you practice real frame punishing

This is one aspect of the Arcade days I don't miss. Fifty cents a game was steep back in the day when we were young with no job. Sometimes you would spend your lunch money trying to clear these challenges.
These are optional bosses. You're not forced to fight them. You can just beat the game normally... and use your quarters to play again.

@@KillahManjaro When I was growing up you only played arcade mode for practice or when their was no one around. Beating God Rugal doesn't mean anything if you can't beat other players.
@@similaritiesendhere it depends on where you were. I'm in Toronto, and in the early 90's we had 3 arcades on Yonge Street litterly hundreads of feet from one another. Yonge Street is the main and most popular place to be on the weekends. Those arcades were close to the Eaton Centre.
At times you might get to play people in waves, other times you have to play against computer. The main arcade was where all the Top players were. Funland Arcades, and the other two not so much so you had a chances to practice alone.

Look at a game like MK2. The computer read your inputs so you had to cheese the A.I. to death. If you're cheesing the A.I., you're: A. Not having fun AND B. Not getting better. Those cheese techniques don't work on humans and don't even look cool.

He needs to learn the full fundamentals on how to get shin akuma. When I played Capcom vs snk 2 I used ken by himself to get shin akuma but you have to have perfect in each match and I use blanka to get God Rugal plus infinite life and power to beat the game anytime I wanted to with some mad combos to the point that my highest combo was 126
I see your first mistake: you are trying to fight the god of snk cheap bosses with Street Fighter characters that don't even come close to Rugal's cheap stuff, If you played the original KOFs you would know, he is hell if you make a mistake, you have to be perfect.

It s God Rugal dude so it obvious he deal lot of damage and he s much faster than any other character the only character who would have the same speed is Shin Akuma ! I have him in my Mugen game and he s much worse than CVS one lol he makes combos into super then KO 😛 ! I made him the final boss among Guess and Akuma lol !
that was'nt on highest level of difficulty. as someone who plays that game religiously. you had to take atleast over 20 tries on maximun difficulty to beat ultimate rugal or shin akuma on this game. no waiting around and dont talk about cpu read input. its the best fighting crossover in my opinion.

I always go full ratio with my best character. Multiple characters lets him heal between characters.
Most players don't think that way so they get smashed on more often
