@dominicsamson1 No I get it! Condensing information keeping the viewers time in mind is of course important, however I'm at ends with TH-cam as well. TH-cam tends to promote videos that have longer watch time (not just average view percentage).

Life Hack:
To access the bank anywhere and only have to go through 2 loading screens, you can simply enter the PvP Lobby which you can access everywhere. Not only that but exiting through the same button teleports you back to where you used it.
Instead of using gems on Bank Tab, you can double your Alternate characters as bank tabs and storage with 18 slot bags (as they're cheap compared to 20 slot bags). Alts can also double as crafters or "park" them in rich gathering spots, so theres more bang for your every buck in buying Alt Slots instead of bank tabs.
I also recommend getting either Armistice Bastion, Mistlock Sanctuary, or Thousand Seas Pavillion Pass. These teleports you to where crafting, vendors, market, etc. NPCs are conveniently place in a small area. Not only that, but using the item again teleports you back to where you used it. If your bag is ever filled, you can simply port with pass, sell your junk and store in bank, then back to playing the game. Absolutely avoid the other Passes as they don't let you teleport back to where you last used it.
Personally, I SELL blue and green unidentified gear on the market (NOT NPCs!). I get plenty of matts from opening bag drops. For yellow, I open it and see if it'll sell for more than 10 silvers. If not, salvage, because the ecto mat you get cost like 10-11 silver.

Or even better, get yourself a guild with a guild hall. Each guild hall has a scribe station, which also works as a bank access point. AND that's only one loading screen ;)
A good point is to wait for sales, sometimes you might get almost everything from the list half the price
True but only if you have some gems already saved up, otherwise those inflated gem prices don't really make the sale worth it. If a character slot is 640 gems while gems are sitting at 150+, it's better to buy it for 800 gems when they're at around 120 or lower. That's of course, only if you're converting gold to gems and does not apply if you buy them with irl money :D

Current maximum character slots is 73, with all deluxe versions of the expansions and all character slots purchased in the store. Only met 2 people with it.

I use one character as a bank character who is perma stationed at the bank , so if I need anything I can log in with that move any item into the shared slot and instantly move item to characters. Funny thing is this was my first character and is only level 3 and was created first day of the game
as a rule when I don't play a character any more, I position them at the end of jumping puzzles

Don't forget!!!! You can always convert gold to gems to save even more money. Also there are frequent gemstore sales so wait for the discounts.

Mistlock Sanctuary is also very convenient imo. Condensed everything into one small zone. I bought it years ago and I don't regret it.
Honorable mention: Mistlock Sanctuary Passkey (infinite use).
It ranks higher than the other convenience scrolls, as you can return to your previous map after selling/crafting/banking.
I second this, this was one of the first things I purchased after gathering tools, character slots and additional shared inventory spaces. Having quick access to sell things, use your bank, craft or just put your alt in a safe place. I'm sure you know this, but throwing it out there for someone that might be reading this, the amount of times I see people go afk in this game and be dead the next time I see them is daily, the Passkey solves that issue because even if you log out in the Sanctuary, the next time you use that key, it puts you back where you previously were.

Ad you avoid having to wait for LA to load every time you wanna do fractals/raids, which is the biggest perk for me :D
WvW Obsidian Sanctum every time baby, it's Free, has a Trading Post, Bank, Vendor, returns you to the map after you're done, and a portal to lions arch if I need a mystic forge or crafting station.

Seeing you salvage unidentified gear directly without first identifying it kinda makes me sad. You have a chance of getting higher quality gear and with enormous luck even an exotic precursor out of those. And salvaging the identified gear can yield you more materials, especially lucent motes since green gear always comes with an upgrade that can be salvaged (100% salvage of upgrades with the Runecrafter Salvage-o-matic).
Also it is important to mention that you can buy gemstore items without using real money. You can convert ingame gold to gems.

@@Handlesaredumbm8 the tools already have glyphs on them (which usually cost gold to buy from TP) and provide volatile magic that is used as currency to buy items on LWS4 map.

The skyscale is certainly the one thing with the most impact toward increasing the overall fun of the game (it's the ability to fly afterall), but Living World Season 4 should also be recommended because it has an absolutely incredible storyline - and this is in a game that has a ton of truly excellent storylines. No spoilers but LS4 was truly *epic*.
also don't get the infinite mining tools if you plan to harvest nodes for gold, you'll torture yourself earning back the money you spent on them (unless it's not much money to you). they're really nice for the harvesting nodes that give you ascended trinkets though (LWS3)

When I started playing, somebody gifted me a set of unbreakable tools with glyphs. It was someone random and I never see him again anymore and I only realised the value of it after a couple hundred hours of playtime.
As for storage expanders, I'd say one or perhaps two at best. Otherwise, you're just hoarding mats and it's holding you back from selling your mats and making gold.
large storage is nice for antipating better prices for the more valuable resources you drop on regular basis (ecto, stabilizing matrixes etc), so you can sell stacks of the when price is high
I got my infinite gathering tools on one of the pre-expansion "get ready" packages. Maybe PoF? They are only for convenience but I am so glad to have to have them! I am too cheap to buy more sets, so I put them in my shared slots when I want to change avatars. I was very unhappy when I went to buy more shared slots (on sale) and got the message that I was maxed out ha ha 😎
You should not insta-sell. Especially for fast selling stuff like mats. You can list a sell order and it will be gone in a matter of minutes with higher profits 😌

@@CaffeinatedDad I wouldn't say you should never insta-sell. Actually I would suggest looking at the difference between the two values and see if it is worth the wait for the amount gained. If the insta-sell price is 1g50s and the lowest bid is 1g52s, is it really worth the wait? He's definitely right about looking though, you can cost yourself some major profits if you don't.
Haven't gotten Copper-fed Salvage-O'matic yet, as I make do with Mystic Salvage kits, which have 250 charges and are pretty cheap to craft. You do need Mystic Forge Stones, but the game gives me enough of them for free while being casual.
True I actually have a few mystic kits specifically for the rare or higher items!
Bonus tip on storage and gathering tools: If you're low on bank space you can also buy a character slot. 20 extra inventory spaces with room for more, then you can park the alt at a farming spot and/or do map completion for keys. Keys give you statuettes, statuettes can get you infinite gathering tools.

Pro Tip: Instead of bank expansions, consider getting extra character slots, equipping your new character(s) with15-slot bags, and parking them next to a bank. This is much cheaper per slot than bank extensions, and is useful for storing things you want to keep, but don't need quick access to. Such characters are sometimes called "mules".
You can also convert a mule into an active character at a later time.
That's what a common theme of the comments have noted, more efficient for mules versus expanders
Bank expansions are still much more comfortable...

@@gontrandjojo9747 I'd argue whats really useless is extra mat storage. If I remember correctly, its more expensive than bank slots and much worse.
Only works on +250 material stacks, and you usually dont horde that many outside a few, in which case its better to just deposit all those extra materials in a dedicated bank slot, or a dedicated character mule for materials and such (and can still be used for pvp).
Can you get & use the mounts from living world season 4 if you are a free to play account, I thought mounts were gated behind the full version & DLC
The living world seasons 4 mounts do require the at the minimum path of Fire expansion. Not quite sure of the others however i don't believe so
I'm not sure how much it matters but I never break down random items directly. I always use first because you have a change for it to upgrade a level or two. For instance a random blue item can become a green or yellow item. I believe (but I'm not positive) that higher rated items break down for higher tier components so may make a difference. Green and Yellow items can become exotics as well so why not give that a chance?
On a side note about your comment about the additional bag slot: It is for that character only, not the character slot. If you delete that character, you delete the additional bag as well. Learned that one the hard way.

If we make these purchases, will they be transferred to the other guild wars games that will come along. I’ve been enjoying the game but spending gems on each character to open bag slots is not a good sign to me.

Not at all! Each one of those have a specific use!
Dont salvage loot bags, they have a chance to drop above their rarity, so you can get a precursor out of a blue or green bag. but not if you salvage the bag.
No joke, some people have gotten precursor drops off of a blue lmao. Absolutely not smart to salvage before identifying

Just curious on your opinion. is the Copper-fed Salvage-o-matic better or worse than the Silver-fed Salvage-o-matic? The silver does cost more per use but you get a 20% chance at rare and 100% chance on your upgrades. It also only cost 500 gems verse the 800 for the Copper-fed. The Copper-fed costs less per use but only gives a 10% at rare and 20% chance on upgrades.
You will use the copper one more as most of the the items are junk and would be wasting more copper if you use the silver one. I typically use the copper one for blues and lower
Talking about account upgrades, i highly suggest you shout-out MightyTeapot's zero to hero series. Lots of knowledge to be shared about basic gold-making, and optimizing fun while making them! Most importantly, no real money required

When I started the game, really liked it and bought character slots to total 9 - one for each profession - over the first few months of playing. Then after a few years when I was looking into alt parking potential, I bought another 9 so I could have 2 of every profession (bought when they were on sale). This was to have more alts to park at farm places, and also to enjoy different race options for each profession with their different animations and general vibe.
It has been a common theme with all my comments here that alt parking or mule work is great!
Quick heads up the expansion episodes are originally free when they released all you have to do is log in when the episode releases and will be available for you for free ,if you missed it completely then there is a gems charge
But gems can be bought with in game currency no need real money, lots of gold trains in game join one for 1 day or 2 and you have enough gold to convert to gems

Truly the main thing one should get is the Living Story.
For all intents and purposes, each Season is the content patches between expansions. If, say, 7.0 is the expansion in another MMO, then 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, etc is the Living Story Seasons and chapters.

you dont even have to spend real money. I used gold to buy all my needs from the gemstore. (volatile tools, char slots, etc.) Managed to max bag slots on multiple chars, max bank tab, max material storage. so getting all the important ones are really doable without spending your parents money.
True! Technically everything here can be grind out but alot of people don't necessarily have the time to grind and build funds to purchase gems. Some of us would just rather use the disposal income we have!

Everything that's on this list besides maybe the gathering tools go on sale alot so if you do want buy anything just wait for it to be on sale

Unbreakable tools are ONLY worth the price, when combined with 3 shared inventory slots. Lets you easily swap them between characters, just put basic tools on each character, double click em before swapping chars, then easy peasy insane value. Especially unbound or volatile tools.
i only gather in WvW so i have them on my most played wvw char, but what you said is true imo.
im new should i buy living world 4 just to get the skyscale so i can then start playing the core and expansions and have a much easier time?

Just to make it clear: none of the Gem Store items are required to have a full experience of the game. (Apart from the Living World content. Bit more on that at the end.) These are all convenience items, not essential purchases. Some have more value than others, especially the ones on the list in the video, but one shouldn't feel the need to buy them. Certainly shouldn't feel to be in a rush to do so.
Also, Gems can be bought with ingame gold. Now, at around 140 gold for 400 Gems, it may not sound cheap, but the option is there.
Yet another thing: Living World seasons can be bought in season packages, which are priced at 160 gems per episode, or 960 gems for a full season of six episodes, which Season 4 is. Even that goes on sale every once in a while, further lowering the price per episode. Any episode you might already own is discounted from the total, too. Look for the Complete Packs in the Gem Store.

Yes! Technically better! It has a higher chance to grant better materials versus the copper fed. The trade off is that it costs more

I came from FF14, so i got used to spending regular monies on a game for the last 8yrs. I buy $10 in gems every month just b/c i know i can afford it, and tbh if no one opens their wallet for a F2P game, say goodbye. 😅
One of my first purchases was a skyscale skin LMAO (i still dont have one a yr later because i am cursed with being side tracked by everything), because it was cool and i thought it would give me a reason to stay with the game long enough to get the mount and use my purchase. 😂
The utility/upgrade items i got first was the copper salvage robot, and some cool gathering tools that matched the aesthetic of my Sylvari (the flutes that call bugs to gather items for you).

My advice to new players is don't buy more than 10 character slots total (I've got 27 characters now and other than getting their annual birthday gifts, I wish I only had 9 characters and an extra empty character slot for key farming once per week). You can level up one of every character class, and then level up all of the Elite Specializations, with just those 9 characters, and have less characters to gear up, or buy/craft bags for, buy extra bag slots for, build templates for, etc. Start crafting early and it's more convenient to have either all of your crafting done by only one character, or if you don't want to switch crafting professions back and forth, then use the minimum number of characters to cover all of the crafting professions, which will make crafting easier, when you know quickly which characters are leveled up for crafting, and can put certain crafting materials into their bags when you are low on bank space. This applies when you get to later game crafting, like Ascended and Legendary gear. Begin working on Legendary crafting as soon as is practical for your play style. Being able to use your Legendary gear on every character simultaneously is a huge quality of life improvement, specially for end game content and being able to switch stats instantly and without any cost or delay. Being able to adjust your build to try out different things is also great. And if you are into fashion wars, there is no transmutation charge for Legendary gear. Get permanent salvage kits and gathering/harvesting tools, and buy shared inventory slots, when ever they are on sale, until you have maxed out all of them that you can get. Being able to share your unlimited gathering tools between all characters by putting them into shared inventory slots is great. You'll be surprised at how many items you will want to have in shared inventory slots, so all of your characters can use them, without the inconvenience of swapping them into the bank, just so you can then pick them up with another character. I was really surprised that the shared inventory slots didn't even make it into your top 6 gem store items, or did I misunderstand, or miss it. Guess I'll have to watch the video again and find out. As for the honorable mention for the Home Portal stone, that is one item I will never buy and think it is useless. It takes me only moments to go through any of the utility areas "Mistlock Sanctuary" being my favorite, to get to any Racial city and the home instance within that city, so having that Home Portal stone seems useless to me, and I have a very full home instance that I farm every day. Anyway, thanks for the video, even if I disagree with some of your choices. It's good to point out these things to new players.

Very good and solid advice for sure. But i want to make clear that the mounts are not bought in the gemstore, all of them are gained in game. Skins for mounts are gemstore only. The mounts looks nice as is, but skins looks better ofc so at some point you might feel damn i want to have nice skins. Nothing you must buy ofc but yeah as Caffeinated Dad said all those skins are in the store and can be pretty expensive. Can exchange ingame gold to gems or use money for that so there are choices.

Whereas tools like the salvagers are seem necessary but are a convenience, the unbreakable tools are purely convenience, the material storage, at least up to around 750-1000 is practically necessary. Especially if you ever want to build a legendary. I will consider the world boss teleport, as I am often a victim of my own distractions and having an item that brings me to the action would be much more helpful.
True! Honestly I think the 5 dollar cost is great! I'm also significantly more inclined to do those bosses!
I use both the World Boss and the Maguma Pact Operation Portal devices to (a) save a few silver on transportation costs and (b) reminders about when meta events are about to start so I can get to the map where it's being run (e.g., commanders running tags) before it gets full. I'm curious if anyone's run the numbers to compare the return on investment on the copper-fed versus runecrafter's Salvage-o-Matic. I use the latter as it grants a 20% chance of rarer materials & 100% chance of salvaging upgrades for 30 c, whereas the former costs 3 c per use but only gives a 10% chance of rarer materials and 20% chance of salvaging upgrades.
@@stephaniesmith1884 I think Mukluk did some numbers in the past but it might be worth revisiting. I think he said copper is best for blues, can be used for greens, and runecrafter is best for greens and sometimes yellows situationally and silver fed is 100% best for yellows.
wait. what mount is behind a gem paywall?! the living world stories can be earned by playing the game and conversting, like every other thing in the gem store.
there is no "pay wall", maybe "gem wall", but nothing is forcing you to pay.
generally I agree with the video, pretty good. just about the unbreakable tools, don't buy the regular but the vaoltile unbrekable tools, which are 2700 gems, but this 300 gems worth it. very worth it.
bassicely, everytime you gather with those tools you get valotile magic, a currency that you can convert to materials and sell them. for a lot of profit overtime.
Technically speaking, the skyscale and roller beetle are behind a Gem paywall, of course you can farm gold to pay for the gems of course but most people would be willing to spend the 10 bucks on the season

Okay, so I've only ever made 2 cash-to-gems purchases - for the branded mounts pack (strongly recommend) and the shrine guardian mount skin. That said, I have 23 characters (12ish of them made in the past couple of years), almost 3 sets of gathering tools (lacking the mining pick), around 50ish different mount skins and about 7 outfits. Of course, I've also purchased gliders, bank upgrade slots, material storage and such... And I've got gold for all of that through PvP even though I'm not really great at it :D My point being, you can easily get anything you need in the game by simply playing the game if you don't wish to spend any money on it :) And yes, here I'm not counting the expansions as purchases... :)
Well if we are looking at expansion purchases than of course it is much more valuable to get the expansions!
and with the bank tabs you can store resources in there (that can't be stored in the material storage) that get pulled from the bank during crafting

Yeah, Guild Wars 2 needs to have more 50% off sales, instead of 20% to sometimes 40% off sales. That's the best time to get things, I think. For comparison, STAR WARS: The Old Republic has items on 50% off sales all year long, just have to check what's the main sale item of the day, and check when items you want are on sale.

another QoL to buy is the Build and Equipment slots, so you don't need to re-equip your character for every situation

Don't waste your gems in Unbreakable Gathering Tools and wait instead for the Infinite Volatile Magic Gathering Tools to rotate in. The glyph that comes with these tools will speed up your process of getting gold or ascended accessories. The character slot and bank expander goes hand in hand, the more characters you have, the larger that bank must be (speaking from experience having 22 characters). The materials I've gathered already filled my Material Storage (max stack of 1250) and overflows to my bank. Also paying for the living story episodes is not that bad even at full price.

@@CaffeinatedDad I have them all max 80. I just like playing different class/race combinations. I have 5 Thieves, guess which profession is my favorite. If the bag slot expansion is account wide, then using them as mule makes sense, but it's per character so it will get really expensive to use them as mules. Besides, the bank is account share, so mules only exists if you have multiple accounts.
Seeing you salvage those unids hurt me....open them first....

Yes, gold farming is a method however I wanted to keep an emphasis if you were to spend money!
I think all living world seasons are worth getting, these are all extra game content that you can't get anywhere else. For me, I thought that some of the living world seasons were better than the main expansions. Regardless of how good they are ( or not ) they are all part of GW2 and you are missing out on parts of the game without them. But as always with GW2, depends on what you want to get out of the game as to if these are relevant or not.
I would say the Mistlock portal or The Pavilion portal tomes would be great as they allow instant access to a town for bank, TP and crafting stations, then will port you back to to the same spot you left.
I love my armistice bastion pass. It helps out alot more than I ever thought it would!

Holy Moly this game transform me into a whale. I bought first all the expansions+living world seasons on christmas. After that i bought shared inventory slots, the volatil harvesting tool, world boss/home/marduuk portals and the different salvage kits. Easily spent ~200€. Compared this would be playing a normal subscription game for ~1 1/2 years. And i have not spent money on bag or bank slots. My wallet thanks me that the mistlock portal scroll is not in the shop right now.
Why? I mean...why? You can get gems with ingame gold. And gold you can farm easy. In almost 500 hours and only Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire expansions I farmed gold for all the 3 slavage omatics, 2 bank expansion tabs, 2 storage expansion tabs, the Candy Gobler and Living World season 4 full. All this just by framing casual content. Wtf bro, give me a call and I help you farm for free, don't spent your money on this. Really, like if you want we can farm togheter and see the beauty of it

Your criteria for most of the stuff is for storage but you ranked the character slot as the least when you can simply have 100 of extra storage slots compared to 30 extra slot for bank expander and 32 max slots for bag expander. While the material storage expander is good as it adds 250 more stacks, you can simply store the refined logs, ores and etc to the 100 extra storage slots to 1 character toon for your legendary crafting. And it's not like you're gonna hoard all of the materials first before you start crafting the precursors, that's just inefficient.
I've seen this type of comment a number of times specifically talking about how it may be more beneficial just to get a new character slot to replace the storage expander. I mean it makes sense!

LMAO! for the past year I rarely used my copper fed Salvage thing cause I legit thought it required copper ingots and not coins.... "well copper is hard to come by when I'm not in the low level zones so much" I thought to myself. it's copper coins... I feel terrible.
