The Newcastle based Cairn Hotel Group took over the hotel in 2016 and converted it to the Hilton Double Tree brand, Cairn Group have built up a portfolio of branded hotels across the UK taking over hotels and converting them to the Holiday Inn, Hilton, Mercure and other brands as well as their own stand-alone hotels, it's a good company run by hoteliers rather than property developers.
