@@stephenwalker1551 They're my favorite Metal Band. Long Beach Arena and Irvine Meadows was only 20 minutes from my house. It was a regular stop for them.
The voice at the beginning of NOTB is a former radio and tv guy by the name of Barry Clayton, he died in 2011 at the age of 80. It is reported that Maiden wanted Vincent Price to do the narration, but he wanted £25K to narrate those few lines. Unsurprisingly, Maiden were like "Uhh no thanks"
Barry Clayton, the Voice Behind Iron Maiden's 'Number of the Beast'. Barry Clayton was born in 1931 in Islington, London, England. He was an actor and director, known for Count Duckula (1988), They Came to Wales (1970) and Weekend World (1972). He died on December 29, 2011 in Islington.
barry claydon did the talking part, they wanted vincent price, but he wanted too much money. it sounds like barry claydon imitated vincent prices voice. vincent price did the talking part on micheal jackson's thriller. vincent price stared in horror films.
Strangers in a Stranger Land, Wasted Years, and Murders in the Rue Morge are my personal favorites from Iron Maiden. Vincent Price is the voice of man narrating the intro he's was a legend in the world of Horror. Queensryche will absolutely blow you away.
Eventho a fair assumption because the voices are so similar, the narrator for the intro of "The number of the beast" is/was Barry Clayton who sadly passed away in 2011.
This was the the first metal song I ever heard in my life when I was 12 years old and remains my favourite song to this day. It was a complete awakening for me musically and they remain to be one of my favourite bands. Their live performances are second to none, in fact I dare say that live they aren’t second to anything at all and anyone who has seen them live knows exactly what I’m talking about. 🤘 Seeing you get so excited about these guys reminds me of my childhood, I love your passion Anastasia!
This song is played at the end of the show... It's the first of encore. This energy you see on that song is the same from the first minute of the show! I really think they are the best live band! There are concerts, good concerts, awesome concerts, perfect concerts and Iron Maiden concerts!
06:48 The bassist Steve Harris is probably the best example for that. It's not just that Iron Maiden have been playing between 14-90 shows per year every year (except for 2015 & 20/21) since 2003, while releasing 5 records, at 66 he's still doing football matches with the crew & local teams on the off-days and has been touring with his other band British Lion basically whenever Maiden is not touring. It must be amazing being able to do the thing you love for a living without losing the love and the passion for it (and being blessed with a healthy and resilient body)
I am a iron maiden fan since 30 years ago, i think that you have to think from their prespective, think that you're a band that did not use radios and the only that you used to make your music cross the world is the fans... think about that there are songs with more than 30 or 40 years and the kids are singing your riffs and know all the lyrics and show you your passion as a thanks for all this years of happiness... i think they are using that energy to keep doing what they do and they know all the love that the fans have for them. I think that is the answer to understand that there are other bands but this band is different.

The narrator who did the opening (from the bible, Revelations 13:18 eventho slightly adapted by Steve Harris), is/was called Barry Clayton, a voice actor who had a very similar voice as Horror legend Vincent Price. The band initially tried to get Price to do the narration but couldn't afford him/he asked too much for his services, so they found Clayton and he did that masterful opening. Steve Harris supposedly got the inspiration for this song after a nightmare he had after watching the 1978 horror movie "Damien - The Omen II". One could say that a nightmare gave us one of the most killer Maiden tracks, it also tells us that inspiration can be found in anything.

What the hell do people have against the original studio versions? If you're examining strictly live performance elements, then okay, but if we're analyzing and examining the song itself, the original presentation (studio recording) should be used.
Greetings and Love from Köln/Cologne, Germany...again..wow, outstanding your passion for 'my lifesaving heros Iron Maiden'. Just after a few Songs. Very similar to my first listening to them. You literaly put me back in time. To 1985. Me (16) becomming a MaidenManiac. And that's how i found my first big love. In the Metal-community, she was a Maidenhead also, damn, i was in heaven, i thought, hihi. She was a little older than me, not Mrs. Robinson like, ha..only a few years younger than you are now, i guess..Manuela, my love was 21.. Great memories..and you reminds me totaly on her. As you told bout your feelings while listen to an awesome guitar solo, i imidently thought 'what, no way'...just like my girl. She, headphones on, three Maiden guitarist, live of course, and she was done. But ok, i have my 'Floorgasms' and she her whatever..😆...but than i let her listen to a live performence from 'Gary Moore'. Omg, she didn't believed what she was hearing..and i didn't what i saw😉☺..total extasy. I was just about to send you the link for this Gary Moore video...and thought, no, you maybe haven't the guts to do it. It's a 10 minute long 'not from this world' multiple highlights exploding guitar experience. I know what i'm talking bout..i witness his godgiven(wait, i didn't have a God/Religion🤘😆) once live on stage. Here in Germany 1989. So, thats enough, well, sorry...a long story. Hi @Anastacia Luna, In fact, "The Number of the Beast" is the 3rd. album, first with Bruce Dickinson on vocals. This song, whose MV was played a lot on MTV, made the band known overseas. In fact, they are more recognized outside U.K. The biggests funclubs of I.M are Brazil, EUA and Mexico, as we can see this numbers of views on Y.T last week: 1 Brazil 4.46M visualizações 2 United States 4.29M visualizações 3 Mexico 1.82M visualizações 4 Italy 1.11M visualizações 5 Argentina 1.1M visualizações 6 Chile 1.09M visualizações 7 Germany 1.07M visualizações 8 Spain 971K visualizações 9 France 920K visualizações 10 Poland 900K visualizações

The clansman song is a nice one to react too. Barry Clayton is the voice at the beginning of the song. The hallowed be thy name flight 666 was the last song of the last date of live of the tour. You see Bruce is almost totally done but he still give 150% of energy for his public, it's amazing. (the other members of the band do same of course). And don't forget he was too one of the pilots for ed force one and so much more things out of the band.
Nice reaction! The next one mast be “The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner” Flight 666 New Jersey! 16 July Live in Athens, and I'll be there, I can't wait for that! Up the Irons! Keep rocking Anastasia!
The intro voice is done by Barry Clayton, not Vincent Price or Boris Karloff as a lot of these comments are claiming. - They originally wanted Price to do it, but ironically Price's price was too high. BONUS FACT; If you watch the old show "Count Duckula", the narrator is... ...BARRY CLAYTON. So if you want to hear the legendary Number of the Beast voice narrating a cartoon, check it out!
In the maiden England live video (1988) Bruce was lifting Dave (one of the guitarists) on his shoulders for the duration of his solo. He is the beast...
I used to think the voice at the beginning was Boris Karloff found out later it was Vincent Price, "Maiden" rules no better , However I have listened to your music and like it a lot. I've seen Iron Maiden twice and the energy is crazy good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UP THE IRONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe it was actor Barry Clayton who did the spoken word intro to the song from the Book of Revelation 😂 They sampled audio of actor Patrick McGoohan for the intro to the song 'The Prisoner' (which was based on the UK TV series 'The prisoner' feat. McGoohan) Interesting story... Bruce Dickinson (vocals) had just joined Iron Maiden in 1982, and 'The number of the beast' was his first Maiden record... Martin Birch, the producer, had Dickinson singing take after take in the studio for the song's opening verse... Dickinson was so frustrated & agitated in the sessions that he was throwing chairs! When Birch finally said, "That's the take!" and Dickinson said he didn't understand why at the time cos he had been singing it all day 😂But he says he understands better now... 'The number of the beast' was Maiden's first gold, then platinum record in the US and first #1 album in the UK 🤘🤘
The voice at the beginning is from Vincent Price. He used to do many horror movies voices. He also did the voice in the song Thriller from Michael Jackson.
Seen them live plenty of times 2 next month at the beginning of the World tour! And believe me exhausted does not even come close, battered ribs and all sorts.
I’ve seen them twice and watching videos of them is not even close to experiencing the real thing it’s beyond anything your wildest dreams could imagine 🤘🤘🤘
I was on Iron Maiden live show here in Moscow) I don't remember the year, but I guess it was in the very early 90-s. Stas Namin was the producer who invited the band to play here.
The intro voice is NOT Vincent Price. Is Barry Clayton . Check something from new new maiden studio album. Songs like Hell on earth or the Parchment are amazing. Cheers from Greece my sweety

Barry Clayton, the man responsible for the spoken-word introduction to Iron Maiden’s 1982 album “The Number Of The Beast”, has died at the age of 80. Apparently during the recording sessions for “The Number Of The Beast”, Iron Maiden initially asked horror actor Vincent Price to read the intro text to the title song. However, according to Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, Price refused to do it for anything less than £25,000. Not surprisingly Maiden refused, before the being told about Clayton. Clayton who had previously read ghost stories at London’s Capital Radio was asked him to do it instead. Clayton had no interest in Maiden, but obliged when he was asked to put on a Vincent Price kind of voice.

I was 17 in 1982 when Number of the beast came out, a lot of Maiden fans were synical because we loved Paul DiAnno, the vocaliest of the first 2 albums( Maiden in Japan is the live album from the " Killers tour". Bruce didnt dissapoint.❤🇬🇧🤘
Hi Anastasia just to let you know i saw these guys in concert back in the 80's in Corpus Christi TX. They really are an amazing band.
Anastasia Luna,Back Than, It Was "Platinum", The Best Of The Best!
Absolutely Stunning
Iron Maiden would be a band in all parallel universes. I won't let anyone tell me otherwise.
Look at writing on the wall....................................Nothing has changed strong as everrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
Anastacia Iron Maiden... conforme a tua opinião. Eles são uma banda que trazem pura energia para nosso espírito e corpo... UP rock, UP maiden, UP Luna...
I just love listening to you getting more and more addicted to Iron Maiden, just like myself and million others out there across the globe. Looking forward to seeing more videos.
Another great reaction Luna...I love your love of my band!!! To answer your questions....the voice is Barry Clayton. He also did the voiceover for Alexander the Great and the middle section of Rime of the Ancient Mariner! Also, on that tour Number of the Beast was the FOURTEENTH song played. Bruce is just so fit he doesn't sweat much!
great reaction Luna! you should absolutely react to:
1) Fear of the dark ("rock in rio 2001" version);
2) Halloweed be thy name ("en vivo" version or "flight 666" version)
3) Rime of the Ancient Mariner ("flight 666" version);
4) The clansman ("rock in rio 2001" version)
5) Wasted years ("flight 666" version or "Live from The Book Of Souls World Tour" version)
6) The talisman ("en vivo" version )
7) Aces High ("flight 666" version)
What the hell do people have against the original studio versions?
If you're examining strictly live performance elements, then okay, but if we're analyzing and examining the song itself, the original presentation (studio recording) should be used.
clansman EnvVivo is one of his best performance...
@@Zvosab 👏👏👏🤘
Clansman 2019 Rock in Rio
The link:☺

Iron maiden-hellowed be thy name
Hi @Anastacia Luna, In fact, "The Number of the Beast" is the 3rd. album, first with Bruce Dickinson on vocals. This song, whose MV was played a lot on MTV, made the band known overseas. Seen them live 15 times. Easily the best band I have ever seen life. They just get better.
I have seen them live many times, and yes the energy is intoxicating..
I would love to see you react to a live performance when their age matches yours 😉
You are one of us now, sister! Welcome to the Iron Maiden Army, we are glad to have you! Check out either one of the many live version of Rime of the Ancient Mariner or Passchendaele for a truly mind-blowing journey!
You really do need to go to a concert. I've seen them so many times. I work for a concert venue and I have had the opportunity to work right next to the stage. It is truly awesome! Up the Irons!!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Any maiden song will do it. Just type the lettes : iron maiden live....and carry on enjoying one of the best music ever
Nice reaction! The next one mast be “The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner” Flight 666 New Jersey! 16 July Live in Athens, and I'll be there, I can't wait for that! Up the Irons! Keep rocking Anastasia!
This is my favourite song of Maiden's, and I've been a fan since 1982. Great video, loved it 😁👍
The intro voice is done by Barry Clayton, not Vincent Price or Boris Karloff as a lot of these comments are claiming.
Más más iron Maiden. Saludos hermosa Anastasia
Music makes friends
In the maiden England live video (1988) Bruce was lifting Dave (one of the guitarists) on his shoulders for the duration of his solo. He is the beast...
How to keep the passion? Give it back to the fans; the fans give it back to you. It's a cycle that feeds itself. It's amazing!
The rime of the ancient mariner !!!!!! Flight 666 - New Jersey - live !!!!
McGoohan)
Interesting story...
If you notice in the second solo at the end on Adrian's guitar you hear the effect, he still did not press the pedal to close it, it was fun.
The voice at the beginning is from Vincent Price. He used to do many horror movies voices. He also did the voice in the song Thriller from Michael Jackson.
It's Barry Clayton not Vincent Price
Seen them live plenty of times 2 next month at the beginning of the World tour! And believe me exhausted does not even come close, battered ribs and all sorts.
I’ve seen them twice and watching videos of them is not even close to experiencing the real thing it’s beyond anything your wildest dreams could imagine 🤘🤘🤘
It was Bary Clayton and English actor who was speaking the words at the start of the song
I was on Iron Maiden live show here in Moscow) I don't remember the year, but I guess it was in the very early 90-s. Stas Namin was the producer who invited the band to play here.
Omg I bet it was so fun!
Please do the Talisman live En Vivo! Greatest singing of Bruce ever!
The intro voice is NOT Vincent Price. Is Barry Clayton . Check something from new new maiden studio album. Songs like Hell on earth or the Parchment are amazing. Cheers from Greece my sweety
This is a very enjoyable reaction
Great work Anastasia please the next. Empire of the clouds the sad history the r101 and the rime of The ancient mariner two songs epic
The narration at the start is NOT Vincent Price - it is English actor Barry Clayton (died 2011)

No. Do not stop right there!
O love yours videos, hi from Brasil 🇧🇷🤘🏻 UP THE IRONS.
The voice at the beginning was the one and only Vincent Price , one of the kings of the horror genre.
Actually it is close but the voice was Barry Clayton not vincent price both have that spooky narrative
@@tylerbuckley2092 I thought it didn't sound exactly like Vincent Price, now you've confirmed it.
The man talking in the beginning is Vincent price, he also did the intro to thriller
It's Barry Clayton not Vincent Price
Must have seen them live , 14 / 20 times over the last 30 years..
