I have heard your name mentioned many times by other tiers, this video is my first time watching you and definitely understand now why you are the talk of many other fly tiers.

Great video, Charlie! Your advice on using a saltwater hook, the safer way to break a razor blade, and steaming the deer hair before trimming, were all valuable tips!

I seen Larry tie the original for Pike in the early 80's. I used purple deer body hair and Buck tail on mine. Bleach first...then used Rite dye. I called it Pikezilla. I also used piano wire for the weed guard. What a rush fishing for large Pike on a small Fly-rod! Dahlberg was the ultimate fly man back then using his famous "Double Haul" method.

So do these dive or float? i was always under the impression that deer hair flies like this and Bass bugs float????

As he mentions at the start of the video, fish it on a sink tip or sinking line and the line will cause it to dive on the strip retrieve then it will pull itself up. Gives a ton of action.

Very good video but the sound quality was very poor it would pay you to improve on this otherwise a very good show.

I'm sure it works, but I fished with Larry as a kid and it honestly doesn't actually look like the way Larry's look. I was surprised to see the picture of it.

Show what you are doing! Stacking hair? Thinning out? What? Its all off camera.
