Muscle Museum live at Shepards Bush 2017 (Matt sings a guitar solo) Showbiz live 2017 - The video is called “Muse - Isolated system live reading 2017” but the song they play is Showbiz after the Isolated system intro - This song is just one constant buildup as Matt’s voice goes higher and higher and everything gets way more intense till the finale. They are later performances so Matt doesn’t go *quite* as high with his vocals and the performance isn’t *as* insanely crazy but they are far and away my favourite performances of these songs.
No matter how many times, and it must be in the thousands at least by now, this song always gives me chills and gets me so hyped. Studio version is similar but live is best.
That "sci-fi" sound you were thinking of is called a Theremin. And yes, he sounds like a Theremin here. Also, their "Space Dementia" Live performance from the Montreux Jazz Festival 2002 is off the chain.

To be honest most Muse songs sound better live than in studio cause they're just that good live. Still you should give a listen to the studio version! The recently remastered version's got a harpsichord too for some added spookiness.
