“Dead money inspired by the wizard of oz” is almost definitely supposed to be “old world blues inspired by the wizard of oz,” which is something I’ve heard before. Usually it goes that, like the characters in the story, the courier is recovering/finding their spine (courage), heart, and brain during the main events.
I agree 100%. Dr. Mobius even makes this connection himself in a voice line, pointing out that the spine represents courage, and how there was an old movie about people looking for those three things.
nope. it refers to the "finding a heart, spine, and brain" heart being dean, spine being Christine, and brain being Dog. you, of course, are Dorothy, who was thrown into this world against your will.
You have to admit, it is a fun format. It lets you branch out onto borderline fiction territory, which lets face it fallout has plenty of material to work with and plenty of cool ideas.
I feel like the tier list format was an alright concept but icebergs was like the big bad motherfucker level100 final boss version that lets you drink beer at only 13 on holidays lmao

Hey Mantis, thanks for the great video. I've been finding myself watching your compilations of facts lately to scratch my fallout itch. Thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos!
6:32 Fallout 76 being developed by a B team refers to the experience of the development team who produced the game. Specifically, the branch in Austin who worked on overall development, were from a relatively small studio that Bethesda had just recently acquired. They were previously "Battlecry Studios", who were working on an Overwatch style Hero shooter pvp game called BattleCry at the time. At the time of their purchase, the company hadn't released a single title. They were an unknown group, with a completely failed project (BattleCry never released) and were put in charge of a game that was by all accounts (theirs and reviewers) well outside their experience to produce.
*THANK YOU* for not explaining what an Iceberg is. I'm so sick and tired of literally everyone explaining what an Iceberg is, when there are *THOUSANDS* of these videos - people are bound to know what they are by now. And if not, an older video explaining them would clue them in, or they can simply educate themselves through other means.
Thank you for saying that. I know that my scripted videos are easier to listen to sometimes, but I really like going off the old memory banks for videos, seems more personal and conversational.
The thing with the aliens, starting the war and all that, is referring to in fallout 3 the DLC there is an interview of a US army soldier or something like that giving the aliens the nuclear launch codes
Grognak and the ruby ruins is honestly addictive, i had never messed with any of the pipboy games until about a month ago but i LOVE the grognak game and ive played through it like 5 times, i wish i could find more real games like it
The Starfield reference could be a reference to how Mr House stated that he would get humans to colonize Alpha Centari given 200 years of being under his control
I could be wrong, but for Zeta’s starting the Great War; I believe it refers to one of the alien logs in Mothership Zeta with an alien taking control of the American nuclear missile codes
Pretty sure the 16x detail comes from fallout 76 being the first ever fallout to support 4k resolution at launch. Since the older consoles were low resolution natively. But most idiots still own their grandmas avg tv and don’t know how aspect ratios or resolution scaling works they just made it a meme after it flew way over their heads.
Can you explain what you meant by if the RNG is shining in regards to obtaining synthetic gorillas? I have one playthru and have them, I didn't realize it was rare, what are the specific parameters?
One thing I expected to see on here was something a lot of people don't know! That many of the Fallout 1-2 Soundtrack songs were inspired by and (maybe unintentionally plagiarized) the album Selected Ambient Works Volume II by Aphex Twin. Evidence includes the comparisons between Grass (Aphex) and the FO2 Credits theme, and others I cant list from the top of my head. Here's an old video that goes into detail: th-cam.com/video/sw1Cfe5f7f8/w-d-xo.html
glad to see you defend f76 a bit lol. its definitely not for everyone (I love it) but you're absolutely right- its very clear that there are a lot of very passionate, hard-working people behind the scenes. while you can see bethesda's hunger for money cropping up in places (the atomic shop & fallout 1st), the events, worldbuilding, and writing is so much fun. surprisingly, it's ended up having one of the best battlepass systems I've personally come across. they recently updated it to make it even better, as someone who isn't paying for it, i still feel like im getting a lot out of it. im not sure if its been confirmed whether or not the big npc update was planned from the beginning, but either way, the devs ability to adapt based on fan input is admirable. the initial launch was such a huge flop, they could have easily cut their losses & gave up, but they put out so many major updates that it feels in many ways like a totally different game.
I've heard the B Team thing a bunch at the time around launch and during the beta. I think part of it comes from it being a studio and team that had not previously worked with the janky engine FO4 uses and then trying to shoehorn in MMO support resulting in the extremely buggy mess 76 was for, like what, the first couple years? Over 200 endings in FO3 might be possible if you count every permutation of end cut scene as different endings. At the time, that sort of thing where player actions in random side quest affecting the end cut scene/epilogue wasn't common.
I dont know why but i think my version of FNV is bugged somehow? It impossible to sneak past Elijah, i got 100 sneak, Stealth boy, no armor, sneak magazine used - and nothing. The moment when you are too close to the exit he just activates the forcefield no matter if he spots you or not. I have done everything that was suggested, every step possible, every possibility, every way. Nothing. Also reading the last message in Sierra Madre casino doesn't trap me inside casion. It never happened. Also when i escape and trap Father Elijah inside(even getting the achievement) his radio still works just like before. He still says things like "What is 6th doing?" or talks about how he is going to get his holorifle when everything is over
23:30 If people are saying that their wrong: The Chosen one can literally do porn in Fallout 2, having sex with both or either of the Bishop woman adds an end card where it says he was the father of the next Bishop leader. Female players can still sleep with the Daughter, not the mom but no baby from it.
When I first played Fallout 4 and Kelloge spoke through Nick I thought that there would be more of that and if I later chose to side with the Institute I'd have to override Nick's personality with Kelloges.
I think he said the map was 16 times bigger. Probably in reference to the FO4 map size. Unfortunately, the map size difference was offset by "mostly vacant".
I think it just needs to make the supernatural elements 'questionable'. For example, Dunwich building/borers. Is what you're seeing actually magical? Or are you hallucinating due to radiation/drugs. Or the Interloper. Is it an otherworldly being, or just a crazy mutant? It's something that could honestly go either way. Meanwhile, Fallout 2 having you exorcise a literal ghost. just fuck you, here's a ghost. That's incredibly stupid.
I just realized that the legion orgy theory doesn't quite make much sense because the legion forbids the use of alcohol. But on another note I heard somebody shot up the tops
