    Perfect example of less is more, I think you've just done the OEM+ mods, the car looks spot on. As for the wheels, you're right, they look great out f the box, after market ones will just make the car look cartoonish - it's not needed. Glad it's not let you down Becky, I've done 15k in mine now and love every mile. I still have my E92 M3 and of course it's a different beast - I'll never sell that - but the G82 just leaves me thinking where does it go from here? It's just SO good.

    • @jwardTLS
      @jwardTLS ปีที่แล้ว

      couldn't agree more. I've had my E92 for 7 years and will never sell it, but my G80 as a daily is just so much car for regular needs, and can double as a track backup if my E92 is under the knife.

    I think the fact that is 80-90k is why I wouldn’t every buy one. Car prices are getting stupidly high now.

      You can always wait a few years and buy a higher mileage used one. Or you can easily buy the F80 gen for 40-60k depending on year/mileage.
      Car prices are high and luxury goods (such as a BMW M3) are especially high. It’s just inflation. I mean have you seen the price of eggs?

    • @jbmectronic4314
      @jbmectronic4314 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomw485 Well, I think that these cars should be owned before the owners get them that just own them for six month to brag with and use them without care. Im personally looking for a BMW m2 now, but the most of them have had 10+ owners and that is not my cup of tea.

    • @tomw485
      @tomw485 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jbmectronic4314 Look at it this way. A car under 90k USD can do 0-60s at 2.8s and post a 7:28 Nurburgring lap time. For reference that’s the same time that the Porsche Carrera GT, McLaren MP4-12C, and Lamborghini Huracan LP 610 all posted. The original 458 Italian and Pagani Zonda F each put up a 7:33 lap time. 10 years ago you had to pay 300k+ to get this kind of performance and these were in mid-engine supercars with no daily drive-ability or practicality.
      You’ve never been able to go as fast for as cheap as you can now.

    Beautiful car. I just took delivery of mine about a month ago (M3CX) in the same Tanzanite blue with carbon fiber exterior and interior. Went with Kayalami Orange interior with sport seats. Performance.
    Practicality.
    Looks.
    Handling.
    The M3 Touring feels more settled than the saloon & the exhaust note is more prominent.
    As for the new M2.... the manual is way more engaging than the auto.... also, at last the manual shift is short, crisp & precise (the rubbery feel to the shift that all manual boxed BMs have been saddled with has gone!) 😁.

I don't live in a city and have worked from home for 10 years so I don't really have a commute to speak of, which makes it easier to justify owning manuals. • @jwardTLS

    I got my G80 in June with a 6MT and daily it. For the money, it's so much car for the money. I don't think you can do much better for a daily. We have plenty of snow where I live and RWD + snow tires is just fine. The F80 isn't really comparable because the way BMW tuned the engine for that car, all the torque comes on very low and breaks the rear end loose erratically. The G80 is far more balanced and progressive with power delivery, which makes the RWD version MUCH easier to drive in inclement weather. I don't fault anyone for getting the AWD version, but it's not really the same thing comparing RWD F80 to RWD G80. I also have an E92 M3 that I've owned for 7 years and have never had an issue in bad weather with it. Very neutral.

    If I had your BMW, I would have replaced the black rims with silver or chrome rims, it would have lifted the look of the car to the dark paint. Then I grew up with old American cars and they always have chrome rims.. I think these black rims ruin the overall impression while silver or chrome would have lifted. Just look at Tim from Shmee150 on His Ferrari SF90 and GTC4Lusso both painted blue and the latter dark blue and the silver rims lift the cars output.

    • @BinaryBlueBull
      @BinaryBlueBull ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In general, the blacking out of rims and body trim is a trend I don't quite understand. It is mentioned frequently as being more sporty and giving a more sinister look but in most cases I find that it detracts from the overall look and looks cheaper as well. It has a certain "base trim" look, though that might be a weird explanation. Don't know, it's likely just me because blacked out is insanely popular but in most cases I think chrome or another accent colour works better and lifts the car up much more. It also hides much of the detail of certain car parts like rims and bodywork I think, you can hardly make out the design when it's fully black. There are exceptions though, certain cars do work like that but it's usually cars that are fully blacked out, inside and out. I realize this is an unpopular opinion but that's how I view it

    • @ingvartorma9789
      @ingvartorma9789 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you that it looks cheap and full. I grew up in those days when all cars had black steel rims with a silver plastic cover on the outside, usually the cars lost these and you could see the ugly rims. This is precisely what these black failures remind us of. Then I hate black interiors, because it becomes so dark and gloomy. Then what is also popular that also spoils the appearance of the cars and that is to paint or foil all the chrome on the car black, it also spoils the overall image of the car. I think that those who do this today do not understand the design, color and shape of the cars. They destroy the whole thing instead of lifting the beauty.

    I nearly went for the M3 tourer, but couldn’t quite forgive the fragility of the finish on the back of the bucket seats and how uncomfy they are for a daily entry/exit… it was a tough call, but in the end went for an F Pace SVR which has a bit more practicality, and that brutal supercharged V8 that sings out of the exhaust.

    Dont buy a manual M2 Becky. I borrowed one yesterday, felt big and heavy, and the manual was a faf, compared to the ZF box, and i actually felt, it slowed the car down somewhat. These cars are all about ultimate performance, and the manual just isnt that, i think you would regret it. I really want to try the M2 with the ZF in CS guise, when it lands, but i still dont think it will trouble the g80s, unless, it comes with X Drive, which i dont think it will.

Hope anyone considering one will wait a few years for prices to bottom out and doesn't get sucked in by "influencers" that say things like "you must buy..." whilst simultaneously publishing affiliate links to finance companies. It's kind of irresponsible to be honest.

    I agree I think the G80 M3 is a great daily driver. I've finally decided after a lot of deliberation to get an E92 M3. It will be a weekend toy mostly so the petrol bills shouldn't be too ruinous. From what I gather the DCT is a great gearbox but I'm leaning towards a manual for the added involvement. The only issue is most of the later cars seem to be DCT with manuals mostly seem to be 2007 or 2008 cars with the odd exception. Are there any must have options in your view? Is EDC a must have? and is it worth trying to get into a later Competition model?

    I got a F82 a little over a year ago. Even though I love it, I'm kinda looking at the G82 and thinking ..... hmmm, should I? Only thing that's holding me back is the loss of the DCT 'box. Do you notice the ZF lacking in any department over the DCT? Especially in paddle-shift mode? I love the DCT. I had a 335i and the one thing I couldn't abide in it was the lag in shifting in manual mode. You had to shift about 500 revs before you wanted to shift.

      @jstoli996c4s ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t driven a G80, but from the videos I’ve watched, the auto seems to shift very fast, certainly a lot faster than the older torque converter autos of yore.

    • @lifethroughnick
      @lifethroughnick ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With an xhp tune the zf transmission shifts quick like a dct some say it's faster

    • @CaomeiMonster
      @CaomeiMonster ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Went from a F82 M4 DCT to a X3MC with ZF8. I have to say the new ZF8 is very fast; however, less engaging. It's much smoother, but it's missing the mechanical feel. You won't be sacrificing speed, but you will not get that kick anymore when you shift (at highest shift speed setting). At least I miss that feeling very much.
