Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Australia. Really need!

I wish those were more easily accessible where I live.
Microdosing was my next step for my husband. He's 59 & dealing with lots of mental health challenges, possible CTE & a TBI that put him in a coma for 8 days. Unfortunately, I had to get a TPO since he's 6'6, over 300 pounds, and showing violent behavior, constantly talking about harming others. He's aggressive. To anyone reading this, if you're familiar with BPD, is it common to have an obsession with violence?

youtuber doctor try not to leave their profession challenge. Seems like all the docs that gain a good source of easy income immediately leave their job lol. So much for being a doctor to help people. I'm not hating i just find it discouraging. Especially when the product some of them end up producing is just over-priced garbage that targets aspiring physicians. Like thanks for the 3 thousand dollar mcat prep course dude, really helpful.

try building a channel with 500k subscribers while in med school and call it an "easy source of income". people like you are all jealous af. its a job, BE REAL. people leave medicine all the time. Also, his channel has obviously helped thousands of people already, more than the number of patients we might see in our lifetime. Also, why are physicians held to a higher standard than all other medical professions where its 'okay' to chase the $$$. stop being so naive. this is coming from a current med student.

    Hey Zach,
    1) Do something you're proud of. What you will find is that your need for external validation disappears if you fulfill this requirement.
    2) Lower your damn bar. Quit trying to change the world. That's stupid. Do something that excites you. Do something that you feel is a net positive for the world. It's that simple. If you change the world, great. If you don't, who cares. Just take the first cool thing that comes your way and run with it. Pivot to other things when necessary. You're not going to figure it out in the next few months. You can't plan life. The best you can do is take chances and see where they take you.
    3) Never, ever do something just for the money. *Ahem* your lame courses *Ahem* There is so much BS on the internet and in the world. Please please please keep high standards and ignore easy money. We don't need another guy selling courses on the internet or making videos for clicks on TH-cam. What we do need, is somebody that holds themself to a high standard, and provides substance to the world.
    - Some random guy on TH-cam who hopes you'll accept peace rather than chase "success".
    Cheers,
    Huxell

Yeah he still hasn't realised that a single person can't make the type of change he wants to make. You need a whole lot of investment working in the background behind you for that sort of thing and, nowadays, if it stands in the way of capitalist exploitation it's betting nipped in the bud regardless of social benefit.

This stood out to me as well. There's nothing wrong with wanting to do good work and make a contribution, but focus on what type of work you'd want to be doing day to day rather than the outcome. After a certain security level money is quite an empty pursuit. Not reflecting on these external things is what lands you in this position in the first place.

"Zach, it sounds like you're navigating a quarter-life crisis, common in your late 20s to early 30s. The corporate grind often feels like an endless marathon-always running, never arriving. Many live one-dimensionally, focused only on the physical: work, family, and relationships. But life is a triangle-physical, mental, and spiritual. The mental state traps us in 'what-if' and 'what-will-they-think.' Spirituality, often overlooked, offers grounding. True fulfilment comes not from what we take but from what we give. Simplicity, humility, and the mindset of 'I came to serve, not be served' can transform everything."

    1. Enlist the assistance of an agent to help you explore ideas. They understand practical applications for various types of "talent". I could see you on national tv.
    2. Consider venture capital or private equity if you want to be a healthcare consultant. DO NOT join a Big 5 consulting firm because it will monopolize your time.
    3. Align yourself with a healthcare related non profit that connects with your values.
    4. Sit on the board of a healthcare entity.

How excited you were, hearing of engineering wonders that actually could really help people. This would be an area that I think you would not only be successful at, but feel that inside fulfillment that you are looking for. Just a suggestion. Is the juice worth the squeeze? Best wishes 👍😊🙏

Hey Zach, I’ve been watching you for a few years and just wanted to share my perspective since I feel like we’re on a similar path. I started off my education as a premed student studying Biomedical Science. After the end of my second year, my best friend (who I’ve known since we were 12) decided that it wasn’t for us anymore. We felt so burnt out and just wanted something with more financial stability. We knew our families would be depending on us being successful, and we made the decision to leave science for business. The way we saw it, being in medicine was too “high risk-high reward” for us, especially here in Canada where the ratio of applicants to seats is so much lower compared to majority of other countries. At first, it was the most difficult thing we had ever had to do. Over time though, I can definitely say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I feel so much more free. In fact, even though I’m still a student, I’m now working part-time for the company I’ve always dreamed of working for since I was a kid. This definitely would not have been possible if I had just stuck it out in biomed. Now, to be completely honest, even though it was my dream job, it’s not everything I imagined it to be, but I’m glad I at least had the chance to find out for myself. Even if I decide to quit tomorrow, I can live the rest of my life knowing I had done it, and for me, that fulfillment is worth more than any fancy science degree. I know this was a long story, and I’m still trying to figure out my path myself, but I hope you see this and know that you’re not nearly alone in this as you might feel at times. Good luck!

That's the thing about medicine. It takes up most of our youth and we barely have time to learn other job skills. We end up having no other skills aside medical skills. But I think finding time to take short online courses in digital marketing or even a Master's Degree outside of medicine would help medical students/doctors divert if they ever decide to.

Zach. Keep thinking. Focusing on what you enjoy, may be better replaced by putting your mind and body into what you dislike the least. You are clearly at an inflection point, after embarking on a great challenge. I don't know if this helps, but I retired to 2 1/2 years, after being in business for 30 years. (I'm 60). Hated sitting idle, so now, I am awaiting U of F for acceptance into their Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing and then I'm going to contine and become an N.P. I have my own commercial building, so that's my future clinic. I'm not going to earn $125k as an NP. Learn business. You could make millions as a doctor, or doing anything. Own the practice, own buildings that lease to Doctors, own a surgical center. Get the idea. Keep brainstorming. The future isn't in working for others, if you want to call your own shots. Trust me, medicing does the same thing. You make connections. You could have a lab and be the director. you were looking at MD, all wrong, my friend. I say this with encouragement. you are young, so you have a lot of growth.

Option Number 1 is really beautiful and should be the ultimate goal, but it shouldn't be pursued for the sake of it. When you have a specific groundbraking idea, based on your work and life experience down the road, that is when you will start building on it.
The second option sounds best actually at the current situation, because exposing yourself to a new sphere of influence and making connections could turn out crucial for your development! I vote for option 2!😁

I think all healthcare workers shall experience quitting healthcare for a moment. I am very thankful for my “away from healthcare” period. I trained for a job I despised, felt a lack of purpose not being able to directly help people, HATED the desk environment and I was unable to cope. Went back to practice looking at the full part of the cup and ignoring (or more accurately adapting to) the empty. One can have my scenario or yours. Nevertheless, it will be a journey of discovery that will dedicate ur entire life.

As a 'senior', my question is 'what do you want the increased money for?' I found you via the minimalist living video you posted, and my take it that as long as I can afford everything I really need, and a bit of what I want, I'm content, and free to do the things that align with my values. I remained a teaching assistant for 20 years, choosing not to qualify as a teacher like my older sister, after she commented that if I wanted to actually spend maximum contact time with students, remain a TA; qualifying would have meant higher salary, higher status, and a larger pension now, but I decided that doing more of the stuff I enjoyed and was damn good at, was more important. Haven't regretted it so far... I don't know what 30 year old-me would have made of this 63 year old me, I don't think I was as self-aware as you are. And I'm still a work in progress.

Our local hospital is selling a few of their old ambulances. Fully loaded Sprinters. And my first thought was, “Ooh, if Zach lived up here in Minnesota he could get one of these and start his own mobile service to our more rural citizens.”
I clearly have no *practical* ideas. I just like the romantic idea of a TH-cam channel with “The Adventures of Zach: Hero Doctor of the North.” And you dog would love it up here, too.
On a more serious note, you are only 30. At that age I had already been shut out of two careers. I was fired from my job around my birthday that same year. I was developing the beginnings of what would eventually be a 12 lbs (benign) cyst that I was very much in danger of dying from.
But everything turned out okay! I’m 59 now and in better health than I was back then. I found a unique career that better suited my skills and interests. It will be okay for you, too. ❤

Looking for a job as a doctor is extremely difficult here in Ethiopia even with very low payment (its like a 100 dollars a month on average). @fasikagh6192 , yeah it's competitive but it's doable! And your chances of MATCHING into a residency program in America isn't determined by how many people are applying from your home country. Though it really is a huge investment in time, money etc.

Zach, go back-packing and record. Post the “discovering the me outside of medicine,” and connect with nature. Learn what’s it’s like to be cold, to be hot, to be hungry, to not know what you’re going to sleep.
I know you want to create something, but consider creating yourself. You’re young. Your years aren’t empty years. You have helped people. You have learned and know beyond the common knowledge. You are not a failure because you’re not done yet. Whatever you decide to do, find the grace to be all in. Thank you for your time in medicine and being “one of the good ones.” Remember that everything we do is a squeeze. Is it worth it? Is only about the juice taste? Or is it more than just the taste.

    Hey Zach,
A lot of people feel lost and confused-I'm one of them-so you're definitely not alone. I wish I were in a position where I had multiple paths to choose from like you do. Reflecting on what you've shared, the startup option seems like a great balance for you between consulting and doing your own thing. It fits your personality and desire to make a tangible impact.
You won't know if it's right for you until you try it, but you don't strike me as someone who plays it safe-you seem like someone who plays to win. Sharing your journey will be valuable to many people; it's a common experience, and your insights can help others navigate their own paths. Plus, imagine looking back on this journey 10, 20, or even 30 years from now. This is just your beginning.
Wishing you the best on whatever path you choose!

Hey Zach, I came to this video again, just to comment this...
Try some innovation, do some engineering, look into devices that could help patients.. For example I am currently working on various models of ECMO devices that could be like super portable to be carried around in bags, or to re-iterate, artifical lungs in later generations if they can be put inside the chest...
By far, i have worked up a model which works in amphibians, but the model has an inherent problem and that is it exchanges not only gases from the environment but temperature too, need some conditioning of air and all, which introduces the energy consumption and all, i think i can make it compact if i work on it for few months

Consulting sounds like a more flexible career path, and most yt consultants I've watched treat it as a jumping board into industry. It would also help with yt video ideas and expand your niche. It might suck on wlb. Join a startup if you really believe in the product they're building or the service they offer and you want to be a part of that journey. Otherwise, why not try consulting for a year?

@@ZachHighley Same! I always wake up at some point wondering how did I accumulate various projects lol
It might be hard to do nothing but sometimes we do need it, although the max "nothing" I can do is 2 weeks.
Personally ,and I'm not sure I recommend it, I talk the ear off of my friends and family and get a lot of different feedback, somewhat similar to what you did with your video (:
I'm still not 100% sure what I want to do...
A great tip I got from a friend after I shared about 2 projects I was debating between, was - "start with the why" (it's from a book by Simon Sinek),. I realized one project was very close to my heart, while the other was just a business opportunity I saw. So that is how I'm trying to continue, while keeping some of my other options open down the road.
You made contemplate so thanks for that exercise! Hope this helps you a bit (:

As a junior doctor from Australia, I hate medicine almost everyday. It's become an integral part of my life that cannot be separated. I have always wanted to quit medicine all together and go into teaching high school.
Medicine today is different. The doctor's main priority has shifted from treating patients to how to avoid lawsuits. No more best practice. So much paperwork to do in case you get sued you can cover yourself. Blaming or dumping responsibility on other colleagues is also rampant as you don't want to get used. Out of your hand, out of your responsibility.

Find a place, hospital, wich would be thankful of that you are a great doctor. I was thinking that of the day when I saw for the first time you are saying that you gave up. Please, think of it. Just give yourself time to clear your mind. You are an amazing young doctor with character. You CAN be a great doctor. People are praying to be only the half of you, because you are much more perfect for that job than the others. I hope so you will take the right decision because your future, the Zack's future, is in your hands. ❤

I'm pretty fascinated by the focus on consulting - you mentioned you're concerned somewhat with how people perceive you based on the 'type of job' you hold and companies you've interacted with or even the association of a certain kind of prestige with consulting. However, wasn't that the same 'trap' you mentioned got you into medicine? And realistically, the job of many consulting entities is to help other companies 'improve the bottom line' so I wonder if it's the right path for someone with your creativity + unique worldview. I'm hoping to see you build something great and find a path that really works for you man... I'm definitely rooting for you. GL

Zach... I think I'm ahead of you in your journey of decision-making & have two careers. One is corporate in a completely different industry and one is medicine.
My advice is go talk to people. Talk to people ahead of you on the journey... Talk to consultants... Talk to youtubers... Talk to corporate employees etc. Then you need to try things out to know if you like them.
The biggest problem you might find is that because you spent so many years to get to medicine, it may make you afraid to make a decision in case you "waste" more years - but none of the years or experiences are wasted. Skills are transferable & you learn more than you think.
If you ever want to talk about it, I have no idea how to do that exactly with this platform but I'd be happy to share what I've learned so far if you think it may help.

I hope that after you get a break from medicine that you go back to something involving medicine. Eventually, you may get interest back into being a clinician. Or being an educator full time. In my opinion, working in healthcare is the same as working in education. You don't start without your heart being involved. In other words, you can take the doctor out of healthcare, but not "care" out of the doctor. I have only followed your channel partially and I don't know you. But maybe you should look deep inside, to your heart and not to what you "can achieve". At some point you decided to not longer follow the path within healthcare. You indicate that you are not the only one and that means that an enormous potential is lost in healthcare. Why don't you analyze what the biggest factors are, why doctors and other great talents stop their valuable contribution to healthcare. You have been there, you have experienced and lived it and you have decided not to continue. How do you keep young starting people in healthcare? Why don't you become the best at keeping young people in healthcare? Get started with this and build a company around it, so that you can inspire people to do things differently, including the business approach to healthcare and returning healthcare to what it should be: healthcare. Do people see you as the person who changed the world? No, but for the people you can keep in healthcare and the patients they can provide care for, because they can continue to work in healthcare, simply because they don't have to become zombies, that's where you are so meaningful, so decisive and that can give confirmation to who you are, want to become and want to be. Never give up your dream of wanting to change the world, by caring for others.

Regarding the corporate job: you ll detest it. And you won’t learn that much about business… You ll be exposed to politics, inefficiencies, lack of imagination, especially if you go to big pharma. It’s a waste of time and I suspect you’re considering corporate is because there’s a certain prestige to it and… money. You won’t get those big connections to big ppl. It’s an illusion.

You quit before finishing your training to become a doctor, so you’re not really a doctor now. Calling yourself a "doctor" without completing residency and board certification can be misleading.
I'm seeking to understand your motivation. You reiterate that you want to make an impact on people’s lives. Medicine is a profession that does just that in some of the most tangible, measurable ways. You were on a path where you could make a real difference every day. So, what is it you're hoping to find now that you didn't feel you could achieve in medicine? Is there another way to have that same level of impact, or did you leave behind something that could have given you the very fulfillment you’re searching for?
It’s easy to fall into the trap of looking for validation from others. The reality is, constantly seeking external validation can be dangerous. It might feel good in the moment when someone praises you or when you’re recognized for your accomplishments, but that validation is fleeting-it doesn’t provide long-term fulfillment or a solid sense of self-worth.
Relying on others to define your value can leave you feeling unsteady. If your confidence is tied to external approval, it can be easy to feel lost or inadequate when that validation isn’t there. Plus, people’s opinions are always shifting-what others think of you today might not matter tomorrow, and you can’t control that.
The real danger is that it can make you constantly chase "the next thing" to keep the validation cycle going. Whether it’s a new project, a new job, or a new recognition, it can start to feel like you’re never quite "enough."
Instead, try to find value in your own journey, independent of how others see it. Build your self-worth on your own internal compass-on the fact that you’re making choices that align with your own beliefs, values, and happiness. You get to decide what success looks like for you, not anyone else. That’s where real peace comes from.

I think you are seeking a job that saves the world while sitting in a chair. The problem is you really don’t have enough medical exposure to be an expert. So that’s out. You want to be a businessman but have no business experience. Or knowledge. What firm would hire you, doing what? Business is transactional. What do you bring? If you seek external validation you will always feel empty. You need to have it inside. But you are running from the hard work and “dues” you need to invest. But you ran from it because it was hard and didn’t validate you. This sort of seems like a persistent adolescence. To be a COO? You complain about medicine, but corporate culture is usually soulless.
Go back to residency, and get enough knowledge to have something to barter. This sounds like, I am sorry, like an adolescent fantasy. TH-cam is enabling you to avoid reality.

Chances are you might not be in the same place for 25 years.. times have changed, people have more than one career sometimes. You can’t plan everything.. life will throw you curveballs and send opportunities you are not seeing right now. I personally had to switch jobs just about every 3 to 5 years.. by then you know it inside out, I needed challenges as soon as they were gone.
