Great pick. I like them being patient and gaining assets with the trade at 8. I trust the organization. And this isn’t a great draft class or free agency group in 2024. Let the young guys develop, maybe bring in a vet like Chris Paul if he becomes available and wait till next year to make big moves.
We don’t have the same shooting coach anymore he left a few seasons ago and it shows. Who’s going to show him how to shoot Dilly? Oh he’s on the Wolves now

He's a new Dejunte Murray...same game type from what I can tell. Hopefully he works on his offensive game soon. Wemby needs a reliable playmaker who can also take pressure off him by shooting well from the perimeter.

A Wolves first round pick and a pick swap is worth a LOT more than the 8th pick in this draft. To everyone who says "gave away" who is the amazing player you would have taken at 8? Maybe you're right but put your cards on the table. Who.
Yes in this draft class he's a top 5 pick and he has long term upside, but you can't ask for vets or another star like 80% of the fanbase while wanting to draft a player like Stephon Castle at the same time. The same people that want Trae Young wanted Stephon Castle, if you wanted to compete now you'd have been fine with bringing Murray back, you would have let the Hawks draft Clingan with the 4th pick and you would have drafted Knecht at 8, but they didn't want Knecht and they would have screamed at a Murray trade. What's the point? Spurs fans are never happy... They wanted to draft at 4 at and 8 while getting Trae Young which would mess up the cap space while destroying the draft capital. I like what Brian Wright did, he drafted best available with highest upside and best fit, while getting out of the draft probably after his next target was gone, while potentially getting two future lottery picks that should have higher value long term than the players that where available, when the Spurs could be contending for titles, it makes a lot of sense with the new CBA and so on. The only reason why we had the 8th pick in the first place is because he traded Poetl, that mind you was going to leave for nothing in the offseason, after he was handed the worst situation in the past 20 years and was left with a roster of DeMar DeRozan, Dejounte Murray, Derrick White, LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Gay and Jakob Poetl. On a team that couldn't even make the playoffs. Brian Wright is playing the long game while Spurs fans think that the NBA is Instagram. Not all of them of course, but the vast loud majority. And for those bashing Stephon Castle, you havn't even seen him on an NBA court.
I totally agree, and I also don't follow college, G-League or foreign leagues, but I learned about Castle and his attitude is just what the Spurs need. His height and athleticism are great too. The rest will come.
i think they wanted holland but he was gone at 5. so they got outta there with more than likely their best offer available that had little protections from a poorly ran organization. those will be pretty valuable based on the new cba and how the tax penalties will be applied. they got their guy at 4 already and now have more assets to use or package in a deal. most people dont realized how valuable an unprotected pick is and a top 1 protected are however far down the line they are. on top of that the spurs have been stockpiling assets from some of the historically worst ran organizations in the league. the hawks were nice when the spurs got their picks and theyre already about to hit the reset button. history says the wolves wont sustain their success either. the spurs are sitting pretty. SA and OKC for that matter have set themselves up for sustained success, not the one year wonder multiple max deal free agents/trades that might result in a ring but more than likely wont.
