I would be glad to donate a wireless clip on mic for Fr. to use, because the fluctuation and unpredictability of the volume is frankly distracting and a bit anxiety inducing.
Singing, roaring, punching, something with outburst helps. Just something expressive :) Yes, it is usually to let go of stress or to come out of a perplexed state.
Teach them the queen of the night aria or something where everyone can tune in together and you might just have fun. Cursing can be turned into goofing around.
I have thought and believed these things for quite some time but have been unable to find anyone discussing these topics. Language, for instance, is an important topic for the spiritual aspirant, and I have noticed also that women's language has devolved to be exceedingly vulgar, in many cases, both in person and in print on social media. I did NOT know about the terms such as "gosh" actually refering to spiritual terms and I feel terrible about that because I have used those frequently in the past, trying to sound informal with folks who complain that I am too formal in my language. So much to learn! Thank you so much for putting out these videos! I very much appreciate the concept of "penanceware" also and will offer up a decade of my daily rosaries for each video I watch.
Matthew 5:37 "Let your yes be yes and your no be no". Sounds like Father Ripperger didn't pick this stuff up on his own. Perhaps we need to heed these words.
Someone who lacks precision in his or her language is someone who doesn't care very much about the truth... FINALLY, some common sense - not so common anymore - about language!
In Quebec (Canada), there is a huge problem in term of profanities. They literally refer to mass-related objects. _(Calice, tabernacle, sacrament, etc)_ It literally became part of the dialect, which is quite irritating.
It's disgusting, I hate that it has become commonplace to the dialect. It hurts to hear it. Most don't even know what they are saying and although baptized have never been to mass.
@Bighorn44 None Instead of say using "f bombs, curse words etc" the French Canadians use these words to curse, swear, or in frustration "tabernac !!" "calice !!", " sacrament !!".
Bubby why not just make 10, louder? (Sorry - needs more cowbell. Whoops, sorry again). Agreed, often too quiet. Look for a software called “Boom 3D”. It’s helpful to turn up volume.
Per usual, this was a great presentation but I am concerned about his emphasis on what many of us consider fairly benign interjections. He kind of renders us speechless when speech most naturally comes forth as it's almost impossible to remain silent when surprised, excited, angered, etc. I'm afraid that his utter certainty on such trivial matters may push some into scrupulosity,. When constantly tortured by thoughts of sin, people are much more likely to burn out or turn to a much more permissive religion that relieves them of this condition. I don't think that's what God wants...at least, I hope not. I've heard that Martin Luther may have suffered from scrupulosity, which may, in part, explain his rejection of the sacraments, in particular, reconciliation, and his assertion that "faith alone" is the only thing required of a Christian. "When I was a monk I tried ever so hard to live up to the strict rules of my order. I used to make a list of my sins, and I was always on the way to confession, and whatever penances were enjoined upon me I performed religiously. In spite of it all, my conscience was always in a fever of doubt. The more I sought to help my poor stricken conscience the worse it got. The more I paid attention to the regulations the more I transgressed them." -- Martin Luther Unfortunately, most of us have more in common with Martin Luther than we do with saints such as St Alphonsus Liguori, who also suffered from scrupulosity, but unlike Luther, depended on the help provided by the Church, particularly confession and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.
What you say here, especially about Luther, is insightful and important. Scrupulosity is a terrible thing, a very dangerous spiritual trap, as the history of the German Augustinian suggests. It's really hard to see how someone (me, for example) who uses "Gee!", "Holy Cow!", or even "Hell's Bells", unaware really of any sacred connection, is sinning. Tout au contraire, most often this evidences a speaker's subconscious attempt to avoid what he knows perfectly well is profanity. My personal scruples tell me never to take God's name in vain. Practice to avoid that circumstance has made it so these innocuous phrases leap to my lips rather than what I so often hear in the speech around me in moments of surprise or anger.
24:50 "Theres other ways to tell those kinds of jokes than using those words, or just take them out most of the time you don't need them" Wait until you hear a Norm MacDonald sidesplitter.
The reason that born agains (and I assume Catholic) charismatics talk about the language of angels comes from 1 Cor 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. I realize that Fr. Ripperger has first-hand experience with demons speaking languages and even correcting grammar, and I get the philosophical belief or understanding of an angelic intellect--just wondering if there's an angelic language that we don't know about (occult practitioners have one they call "Enochian").
Now that is what real education should sound like. 😊 People who use curse words can be highly intelligent. Maybe it is the wisdom about the effect those words can have on us is what is missing. 😉

Thank you Father for this conference regarding the use of language in our daily life. I was thinking about what you say regarding how to address Church Leaders particularly "the Pope". With the current circumstances should we bow down to this Clergy including its chief leader that are disrespectful to God and his creation on a daily basis? I don't think so. Agree to refrain from using profanity and using Sacred language to exclaim a feeling and a situation regardless the subject. It is offensive to God and our spiritual well being. But don't forget we are all human. However, no flattering words towards Francis and his group of friends who's purpose is to change the Roman Catholic Church into a Roman Catholic Cult . They are cruel, disrespectful towards God and His teachings and very evil towards God's children. Consequently. they do not deserve to be addressed with any flattering words, but the words embedded in the Sacred Scriptures and the Psalms in the Bible
From what this video says even the expressions of surprise such as : "oh my" or "gee wilikers" ,always in our culture considered to be the most innocent, are in fact a form of profanity since they are derivatives. When asked for what to use instead Fr. Ripperger said he'd have to get back to us because he wasn't sure. Now that we know it makes us culpable. Almost makes me wish I didn't watch the video. Lol.
Sometimes I think the Father is so extreme that he is going to fall off a flat Earth! Turning every expression into profanity is just absurd. I guess we could go back to "Great Caesar's Ghost" (Clark Kent's boss in the Superman comics of the 50's). Or is that profanity to Father Rip also? How about "Heavens to Betsy!" Yeah, probably profanity to Father Rip. Father Rip sees profanity everywhere. Maybe the problem is in him, not us.
ArizonaWillful yes he would consider those profanity because the definition is using words that refer to the Sacred in a casual way. Ghost means spirit. Heaven is, well, you know, heaven, so that’s disqualified too. Let me know if you come across any terms which are acceptable. Yabba dabba do maybe?
He's not wrong. Instead of saying nonsensical "oh my," a much more refined and informative statement after taking a deep breath would be "exciting" "my hearts beating fast" "I feel faint" "fascinating" "surprising" "are you feeling as bewildered as I am?" "what a sight!" "the loud noise startled me"... this is what makes public speakers or intellectual giants stand out... their words derive more communicative value, and they have more "self control / self mastery" of their minds, emotions, words, etc.
I have to question the belief that God is 'in' Hell, even in the sense of applying mercy or hope. There is no hope in Hell, and hope is a function of God. In a vision of Hell disclosed to me as a request during prayer, "Is Hell real," the visual exposition was precise, but the spiritual sensation was unbearable. The mass of grief and emotional expression was: This is real and I am here! I was surprised at how quickly I ejected myself, later wondering at my own behavior of self-preservation. For example, I didn't consider trying to help the endless people weeping in their cliff- face little 'cells', or grottos. I just couldn't bear the mass of sorrow, which in a vision is the kind of revelation which frequently is most important - that which isn't visible. After revisiting that particular disclosure several times over the years, I realized that nobody even thought to pray there. Why? Because hope was entirely absent. Also, in an exorcism I read about, a demon told the priest that it was they who created Hell, and that God knew nothing about it, meaning their undertaking. And I believe it. God is capable of knowing anything, but God is pure, and does not spend time thinking of Hell. A system has been established by God which exhibits intelligence, just and is even creative.
