    Hi there, I am a civil engineer with 5 years of experience in the Geotech industry. I want to join as an Air Force reserve officer (Civil Engineer 32EX) is it hard to get in as an officer? is there other paths? What do you recommend? Thank you!!

    Hi Ashley and Khadijah. Thanks for the helpful video. I also have a mechanical engineering degree (B.S.) and have worked civilian since graduating four years ago. I am trying to decide Air Force officer vs. enlisted and I was wondering if Khadijah started as enlisted or applied to OTS as a civilian?

    Wow! I am interested in this career..as civil engineer, is there opportunities to be stationed oversees?

    • @ashleynoelle
      @ashleynoelle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. Civil Engineers maintain the base (i.e. if a facility is damaged or needs repair, it’s CE that gets the call. They also run our base fire department, our emergency management units, and plan for future base developments, etc). So even if just for those functions alone, I’d imagine that every base has a CE presence, including our overseas bases.

    I’m currently a junior in my CE degree is it hard to get into the air force after I graduate?

    • @ashleynoelle
      @ashleynoelle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s hard, but it’s competitive based on the qualifications of the applicants. So as long as you have a competitive GPA and have some history of being in leadership positions at school, or maybe you played on sports teams - show that there’s more to you than your GPA - that’ll help push your application forward.

    • @airforceofficerpodcast
      @airforceofficerpodcast 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's very competitive to get a commission thru OTS. if you've still got the time before you graduate, highly recommend you look into joining AFROTC. it's a far more direct path to becoming an officer.

    Does enlisted engineering 3E5X1 work directly with civil engineering officers or is it a little different type of engineering work?

    • @airforceofficerpodcast
      @airforceofficerpodcast 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes. 3E5s work closely with CE officers, especially are larger scale projects within the Engineering flight. but mostly they make maps. lots of maps.

    • @dukeford8893
      @dukeford8893 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      3E5X1 is the old 553X0 Site Developer career field, which I spent many years in. We did a lot more than "make lots of maps".

  • @umusada
    @umusada 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I tend to see things left in the comments section, unless they’re replies - I have to intentionally search through those. Otherwise, I usually leave an email address in the description section of each of my videos. But if you have a question, others may have that question as well, so I encourage folks to leave questions as comments.

    How much is the pay

    • @ashleynoelle
      @ashleynoelle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each person's pay is based on their rank and time in service. Their particular career field doesn't really matter, except that certain career fields will be eligible for bonuses specific to that career field (mostly medical personnel and pilots). Feel free to check this video out for a better breakdown of military pay th-cam.com/video/ioa-nyfzWDA/w-d-xo.html
