When EW ended, I ran the final dungeon more than a hundred times to get Meteion as a minion. I needed that for closure.
The first thing I did when I finally got her was going back to Elpis, and bringing her back under that cherry tree. We stood there together, waiting for the night to fall so we could stare at the starlit sky, like she used to do with her father eons ago. I took a picture and, remembering Hermes famous quote, went away in a final goodbye to the Ancient times.
Then, my journey was complete. From my arrival at Limsa to the deep recesses of the Universe, it finally was made whole.
And from this day onwards, she has never left my side. I will pass onto her the spirit of Azem. Teach her how to walk the earth. So she can carry on singing her song of Hope, long after I'm gone.
This is my answer.

This song really holds all the emotions of endwalker
It is the perfect memory-montage inducing song. I can’t hear it without reliving Endwalker in my head and heart.
Not just Endwalker, but every state of the game. “Unbroken promises we made so long ago, but you’re still here. The community has made an impact on them and they hope you stay with the game for its entirety)
@@gearsofwar07 Yeah, this pretty much sums up my thoughts on it as well. For lack of a better term, I think "Close in the Distance" is the Swan Song of ALL of FFXIV up to this point; a sort of bookend to this era of the game and story as we and the team behind it - and the world itself - gets ready to move on to the next era. Like a manifestation of closure, so to speak.
Either that or the team is testing whether or not it'd be a viable option to have people pay for their subs with their tears, instead.

“Strong art thou mortal” … I stop and broke down to tears at that. Weird place… but it was like… the greatest thing to hear after everything you face through, reviving some appraisement felt just broke something in me that made me cry my eyes out.
This needs to play when the credits roll on the 6.x finale.
Agreed, but they used the Limsa Lominsa music instead. Missed opportunity but oh well.

@@ExtremisInvictus The city state theme only appears if you skip the credits, otherwise you get Flow Together in the ending with everyone walking.
@@shadeleonhart8470 The developers should make a patch that also skips the song to Flow Together as well for people who skipped the credits.
@@ExtremisInvictus they play the music for all of the city states. If you skip the credits then yeah, the music doesn't fit the final scene anymore.
This song fuels my heart with Dynamis.
The implementation of this song in the game was great. The filling in of different parts as your team committed to the cause at hand. Definitely my favorite story zone in the game.

To those who saw The Primals... 'twas a pleasure to cry alongside you
There was not a single dry eye in that building. Met one of my FC friends for the first time there and her and I cried together while singing as loud as we could. Truly could not have been a better experience
It was a wonderful experience to bawl with 14,999 other members of the community

I can’t help but feel my heart get heavier when I listen to this track. Endwalker’s story was heavy too, but after losing a loved one during COVID, and while I’m still getting hit by more loss as the days pass, the lyrics remind me to keep pushing. Love it, I’m blasting this when it hits Apple Music.
I lost my mother back in January. It wasn't covid directly that took her, but the lack of hospital space due to covid. "tales of loss and fire and faith" hit me extremely hard. We must push on and live and be the light for the ones we lost. We must be the ones to light our darkest hours.

Not going to lie, I had trouble getting through this zone, it was pretty hard to see through all the water
making that walk to Metion with this song playing as you lost everything you known made this chapter epic.

I never cry for any almost any reason, but I had tears more than a few times during ShW and EW.
I've just completed Endwalker for the second time. And also for the second time I cried. A lot.
I bawled like a baby when i finished this during Fall Break truly a wonderful experience

this song is so powerful and beautiful i literally just burst out into tears irl like out of nowhere. maybe you have to earn those tears by knowing what they mean in the story from the game or the life of the composer, or maybe its the pain in the vocals and the composition's innocent hope like dawn peaking over the night sky. either way i cant explain how a song from a video game can make me just bust out into a full ugly cry out of nowhere even having not played ff14 for several months as of this. powerful af soken man
I basically mararthoned all of this game and got caught up 3 weeks before endwalker. This song really was something.

every step forward was hard once the first fell, with everyone sacrificing to make it possible for the WoL to go forward. made me cry by the end of it. first time XIV mad me emotional. gave me a punch like the DRG Questline for XI.

My bf who already completed endwalker saw that I was reaching Ultima Thule and wanted to do this part of the story with me because he knew I would fall into pieces and cry.
It took me almost 6 hours to complete, after multiple break and a lot of tears I finally did it.

This is an amazing song, I haven't even reached Endwalker yet but someone played it in our FC and I've taken a liking to it already.

After playing since launch, leading an fc for over 7 years, just for it to fall apart right before end walker launch...this song hits really hard. I have stayed subbed, but it's hard to log in. The memories of past friends, adventures, the journey that just was abruptly halted, it hurts. FFXIV is beautiful. But I don't know if I can return.

Initially didn't really like the Endwalker MSQ with the direction they took. But looking back on it, in retrospect, it was a satisfactory conclusion to the Hydaelyn/Zodiark story arc (both representing the legacies of the Ancients, not necessarily the primal entities). And this song perfectly captures the environment of Ultima Thule...

the song starts as blurred instrumental and changes with every major step you take in the final area of the main story, called Ultima Thule.

It does kind of sound like 'through sight'. But I dunno, it also kind of sounds like 'from sight', and that would make more sense.
"Fading through sight" makes zero sense.
It's from sight as it describes literally what happens in the events of Ultima Thule as the scions dissappear and the warrior of light can still see them in their mind and hear them.
Don't know why, but opening sounds a lot like a Linkin Park song.

Its a good song. Im not getting the emotions everyone else is, i dont have existential dread about the future or a despair dragging me down.
So yeah, the story didnt hit the same for me. But enjoyed it as a 'forging ahead to the bright future' thing.
ngl i kinda like this version more than the one they have in game. im not huge on this song in general, but this one definitely has much less christian alt rock energy

The original is softer tune, this version was pick up a notch. I cant say i prefer it but i can see what they were trying to do. I do wish it hit a little harder rock, its very soft rock imo
