I saw the video recently as well. Prior to that video, it was theorized to be Gra'ha Tia (or the Crystal Exarch). Which I thought to be it despite having some doubts. Edit. My doubts were entirely based on feeling. I had no evidence to support it. So, I wouldnt ride on the "I was right all along" Edit 2. It wasn't a video. It was an article.
So it’s been revealed during the Primals concert that it’s actually canonically ARDBERT singing. So that’s why he’s the only voice to come to us twice in the final walk.
"To whomever receives this message out there in the vast reaches of the cosmos… To someone, I hope, who looks up at the stars with the same wistful gaze as mine… To you I say…forge ahead. May all our tomorrows be blessed with joy."
God when I first cleared that one my main, I had to go to the moon and sit at the Allagan crash site and cry for nearly an hour afterwards thanks to this song and that quote
@@SparkShadow212 So, I'm an idiot and need reminding, but is that(spoiler): from Omega's sidequest in EW's postgame/patch content? I'm not sure, and would appreciate the confirmation.
I agree, even more because the lyrics "(Morning) rises on a land reborn from the ashes' Neath the heavens To sunset, blood-red skies tranquil after the storm Blessed shadow Turning, wending, always night follows day"
“If you like, I will tell you a tale. A tale of a world on the brink, of a people that never gave up on the future. Of a man who realised his grandest dreams, and then awakened to a grander reality”
That scene hit me the hardest. Seeing him say that so cheerfully. I knew what was gonna happen and what will happen afterwards but damn....why he have to do that >< also what our friend saids afterwards. Then this song plays afterwards. I walked slowly up to the top and looked over the area we traveled and cried. They hit us hard at the end
"Know this, my children. There is more ugliness than beauty in this world. To live is to suffer. To drink of calamity and drown in anguish. To toil and be tested, always and ever. 'Tis a perilous path you walk. Death lurks in the dark, and is the sole promise that awaits at journey's end. You will tremble with terror. You will weep tears of anger and despair. But do not avert your eyes. See your life for what it is. Then you will see how the hardships make you strong. Every doubt reforged as scales for your armor. Every agony to temper your blade."
Having Alphinaud follow me on the crystal path was a walk down memory lane. He came a long way from the posh boy we met back in ARR and I couldn't help but think on the adventures we had together, from Garuda all the way to Meteion. This song just adds to the moment for me.
I actually teared up at the dialogue stop "Offer words of comfort" and reading Alisaie's concern for me. I held it together up to that point, but that broke me.
My dad was watching me play through Endwalker, and he started crying for that part as well. It was so fucking moving that my dad who doesn't get emotional about anything cried over it. This game is amazingly made, and I love every minute of it
Walking up the path with the twin BFFLs was so emotional. I was sobbing cause I knew these two I had grown to just adore were next. Especially after G'raha. I was with Alisaie when she screamed you idiot, but also displaying how close she had gotten with him too. When Aphi said it's only our footsteps now and not the chatter of our other Scions. When they both realized they would leave me alone, but as usual had the most faith that I would come through, just like in Amaurot. We literally took this journey with them. Alphi and I became Scions at the same time and were fugitives together. Alisaie being one of the few to always voice how I was still a person and not some unbreakable beast like Zenos makes me out to be. Honestly, I wished the devs made the WoL cry. Even just a few tears. Because a lot of us were.
I lost a friend recently. They were a huge fan of FFXIV. Listening to this song is making me so emotional. In loving memory of Maribelle. Rest in Peace. "Forge ahead, Until the end, We pray"
Just remember... Maribelle will always be with you even though she seem so far away but never left you.. always keep your head high, stay strong and press on. She probably would say the same thing for you
I just realized there's a verse that goes through all expansions A land reborn from the ashes - ARR 'Neath the heavens - Heavensward Blood-red skies tranquil after the storm - Stormblood Blessed shadow - Shadowbringers
I know this was from a year ago but it also is linked to the scions mostly featured in each expansion: Thancred - ARR (Ul'dah being the consensus for the "canon" starting town, and your first Scion partner) Estinian - Heavensward (obvs) Y'shtola and Urianger - Stormblood (while it was Lyse's expansion I think they represent overcoming the odds at all costs for the sake of everyone really well) G'raha - Shadowbringers (this being where the music kicks in is all of your journey so far, and them all coming together to cheer you on is heart wrenching still) The Twins - Endwalker (they were with you at the start of your journey though you didn't know it, now they see you through till the "end")
I played 1.0 briefly, really made a comeback in ARR and played it a ton, once Heavensward was released I took a break, until Endwalker. took forever to brief myself on story and get up to speed but the FFXIV dev team is the greatest I've ever seen. The music bops in any scenario, the team cares, the game carries so much legacy, everything is perfect. I just wish I was there for the end of 1.0, if only I came back for that one moment to experience the Beginning of the best Ending.
This will be our wedding march in a month. This game accompanied our relationship from start til now. 8 years and 7 together. We were married in Eorzea before even being dating in real life. I can't put in words how grateful we are for all the friendships and memories we made through the years. Update: Thank you so much everyone for your comments and wishes!! This game was everything we had for 5 years of a far-distance-relationship back then. We were only able to see us 1-2 times a year in RL so this was our "home" :) It's awesome to read so many comments sharing a similar story ♥ on April 6th 2024 we had our first anniversary as married couple, we celebrated with a big bowl of Ramen in our favorite restaurant. The last year was full of death and sickness.. We lost dear family members shortly before our wedding and shortly after our wedding, we lost our unborn child last year in August, I almost died early this year due to sickness, but we are still here and there is nothing we cannot challenge together. We fall, we cry but we stand up again and keep walking. Trying again for a family. Tales of loss, and fire and faith. Of course we are still at home in Eorzea and looking forward to our second honeymoon in Tural! ^^
May you both ever walk in the light of the crystal. From one warrior of light to another, may your days be full and plentiful, may your nights be warm and filled with stars. Love to you both, Cinder
@@Wisteria_Moon It's honestly insane that the only two games that made me shed a tear are NieR: Automata and Final Fantasy XIV... and damn good luck that NieR is in FF14 aswell. God I love this game so much lmao
ye i feel that, every time i listen to this song i just think "take me back, i want to relive that" but then realize that its not possible, then it hurts even more lol
I've already heard that the ending is capable of almost curing chronic depression, and though I believed it after Shadowbringers, I've had my doubts at the beginning. Then, I've completed the game, and just this morning... And I'm still crying. This is THE theme of a journey, our journey, which finally came to an end. Theme of Scions, of those who we lost, of those, who we might yet save from the inevitable. With the twins I slowly walked ahead, for the second time in the game since Sharlayan I was carefully listening everything they had to say on the way to the top, almost like I really felt the weight of the universe on my shoulders like I was the Warrior of Light. I'm so, so glad I've played this game, truly a masterpiece.
Hear: The words of others, The sounds of nature around you, the reasonings behind their thoughts. Feel: The pain of betrayal, the fear of loss, the joy of reunions, the hope in despair, the joy in sorrow, fear of death. Think: about why others do as they do, for what reasons you should act. For yourself. Live in your life knowing you are where you are by the choices of your past Die remembering those who once lived Know That it was all so much and so very worth it.
I feel like this is just the perfect song to try and cap off the human's eventual acceptance of despair. We are all born to eventually die, but that ending is not why we have chosen to keep living. We live for the sole thrill of doing so, of finding things to love and hate, feeling your blood turn cold and your heart beat against the odds, knowing the endless agony of living and the eventual joys of still being alive. There's no way to find true purpose to life. It's just not possible. But there is a way to create a reason to live. And all you need to do is keep living, and soon after, you'll find it. Either it be in the arms of another, or standing alone. To look down on the crowds, or look up and see someone else. To draw your hand on a canvas, or shed tears when you see the finished product. Your life has a purpose. You just gotta be willing to live it.
Can't say I agree. To be happy is a purpose on itself, and there are many a thing beyond happiness that give me purpose just by living. Finding purpose isn't hard. What is hard, is enduring the pain of not having a purpose.
I've been actively avoiding visiting this zone ever since I finished the story I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels it but... the visual design of Ultima Thule, coupled with this song... the emotional weight is almost _tangible_
After I finished Endwalker my mother passed away, it's not exaggerating to say Endwalker helped me manage my own fears of death and accepting of it. It prepared me in my heart for what would come. This song reminds me so much now both in-game and out.
I'm sorry to hear about for your loss, but I'm glad that you found some measure of respite in a game like this. I do believe that traces of wisdom and life can be found everywhere, even in something as "silly" as a videogame. Blessings to you and your family.
tbh it will probably always be the most underrated story in history. the whole story is weaved to be a looooong lesson on what it means to be alive. the responsibility that comes with that. the pain of loss and the joy of hope and love. never forget no one truly dies forever. her hopes for the future lie with you and the words and actions she put into the world will echo on through you and throughout eternity. the sun will shine again. walk on. through you she lives.
You can really feel how much Soken is speaking from the heart here, knowing how it feels to face your end and feel alone and isolated with his battle against cancer.
No, his intense emotions are captured "To The Edge", since he producing the song during his moment between life & death. So, this song sings of memory lane for the WoL onto countless treacherous paths that had to be taken and dealt with. Over all, "To The Edge" listen closely to every sound to the melody and read the lyrics . . . . . He was giving his all to the makings of that song.
Just finished EW and when this song kicked into full gear upon Graha vanishing I started crying but tried holding it in. Once that walk with voices of the past? I. Lost it. Bad. This game has made me cry more than I've had in awhile amd thats a good thing. Yoshi-P and everyone who's worked on this game? Thank you for making a story and journey I will never forget
@@azadalamiq It's also the critically acclaimed MMORPG with an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 for free with no restrictions on playtime.
"The sorrow of a thousand thousand worlds weighs heavy, and yet you can walk on." When i saw that dialogue option, i didnt click past it for 10 minutes
you were never the warrior of light because you were the strongest, the wisest or the fastest. you were the warrior of light because where you saw others frozen in fear, you would step forward. in the face of false gods, tyrants, unspeakable monsters, ancient beings of unthinkable power you step forward. courage without fear isn't bravery, its foolishness. its only when you are filled with fear that one can truely show their bravery. the reason that line hits so hard is because up to this point you have never ben truly alone in your journey. this is the first time in the story that you have to walk forward alone, without the scions and without player comrades. i feel that the player being able to walk on in this moment is more of a trial than any that came before, especially since i've watched some "tough guy" streamers straight up break during this section of the story.
I cant listen to this without crying man. it makes me think of my mom who I lost due to lung cancer this past June. on June 7th it'll be an entire year since she went onward. this song pulls on emotional heartstrings beyond just the game
So sorry for your loss. This game's more emotional moments do tend to drag up personal grief but I find that it also somehow reminds me to take joy in the fact my loved ones existed to make memories with me, and will hopefully continue to exist as long as I remember them. Take care of yourself.
I'm on the brink of crying after reading these two comments, FFXIV is a story in large part talking about loss and how we as human beings deal with it, seeing how it can bring all of these emotions together and literally help people that suffered from certain events in their life is one of the most beautiful and heartwarming things ever in the world.
Whenever I listen to this song I think about your comment specifically. It makes me realize that a lot of players have lost people they love and the music of this game digs up so many memories of them. I'm praying for you man.
As fragmented, imperfect beings yours is a never ending quest A quest to find your purpose, knowing your end is assured. To find the strength to continue when all strength has left you To find joy even as darkness descends. And amidst darkest despair Light, everlasting.
Same here man, my mom passed away due to covid just before endwalker release. This game help me alot during that low point and somehow the last walk in ultima thule bring back alot of memory spent with my mom.
As a 1.0 player, this hit me hard... its been, such a long road.. from uncertainty that the game would die off, to Yoshi P saving it... what a journey. standing there, in those flowers.. remembering all the people I met on the way, some no longer with us, other 1.0 people no longer playing.. the tears flowed.
This is why we play finalfantasy games. Its the story and the music. There has never been a game franchise like Final fantasy delivering a great story and music. 30+ years of great stories and music.
Music has always been used in the Final Fantasy series to tell as much of a story as the actual words. FFIV and VI stand out, as does FF9. 'Unfathomed Reminisce' is still one of my favorite songs ever.
Don't mean to draw comparisons but I would say there has been. I consider the Xenoblade series and pretty much everything monolithsoft has done to reach similar heights while doing its own thing. Both series hit hard in music and story and I have yet to see franchies other than these two do it like them
@@AlexGCrit wanted to say that as well, aside from FFXIV Xenoblade 1 and 2 have been the only games so far that brought me close to tears (XC2 even twice, once at the end of the main story and again at the end of Torna), and they also have excellent music. Though they can't quite keep up with all the masterpieces Soken has been pumping out.
And yet people dare to skip, because "it's too long", FFS. It's not freaking League of Legends people /facepalm. It literally pisses me off when someone at endgame starts asking "so uh, who is Elidibus?", "what happened after the calamity?", "what are these rats doing here?" (Loporrits), "who is Meteion?", "why is there a space ship?", like, people just go for the carrot without actually caring about how much effort and thought they have given to every single piece of the story. It's plain disrespectful to just get ingame and skip everything when the game was made with the story as the central piece of content.
There is nothing like this in any other game. The rhythm building in layers atop every loss. The chorus greeting us in our final stretch, as we walk among the shades of our loved ones. Then, finally, ascending a rainbow bridge, built through their sacrifices. This song is mournful, but hopeful. This one was for the players. Thank you, Soken. Forge ahead.
I looked this video up again months after playing since I was reminded of the zone, and now I'm laying in bed singing and crying. Videogames can be art and FF14's journey is evidence of that.
This song will always remind me of the interaction i had at the end of the expansion. Before the final dungeon, after the scions are returned. I met another player... and this is what they said. "Welcome, traveller." "Funny thing. We're here, at the far end of the universe where no life should reasonably exist." "Yet because of our friends' conviction, we are able to push on." "Every encounter is another piece of what makes us what we are." "A wonderous thing the internet." "We may be on opposite sides of this star, but we can still communicate." "So to you. The friend I met here at the edge of everything..." "I love you." "I may not know you, but my love is there regardless." "Now... walk on. See the end of this story with your own eyes."
Before Endwalkers release my dad passed away and like many who go through pain I turned to something that brings me joy. When I heard this song I broke. I would have broke anyway due to everything that built up to this moment in game, but the words hit so hard, I had to forge ahead with my grief and pain.
@@Yurikan Same with my grandfather, arguably more of a real parent than either of my actual ones to me. I had maybe two or three MSQ sessions here until he passed and I put it down to- y'know, do all the stuff surrounding major loss. Eventually get to return and feel like distracting myself from it all again. *the next fucking MSQ quest was the one that dropped the vocal track.* Fucking broke me sideways. I hope you both have healed some friends, we'll all forge ahead and stay strong. :)
I tear up at this song because of the god damn final walk. Hearing all those people cheering me on... God, I legit feel my chest spasming every time I hear this song. It's just so beautiful.
As someone who came to FFXIV from WoW, the positive community and just how much love and care is put into the story and music boggles my mind. Thank you FFXIV for helping me create fond memories
I'm sure it was like this for a lot of players, but the first time I heard this with the lyrics, I had to stop playing because I started crying. It's so good, man.
Spoilers**** I almost had to stop when we lost everyone. When we got to the twins sacrificing themselves I lost it. I cried and had to place the controller down. I knew they would come back but damn...was so hard to see them place faith in us so easily and us being the most powerful being in our world but so powerless to help. I actually had to place the controller down and force myself to pick it back up to finish the msq of Endwalker.
Same this exp. absolutely destroyed me and when this song came on after the twins sacrifice I did put my controller down and said no you can't possibly destroy me anymore game and boy was i wrong....then the walk omg THAT was brutal
I already had tears in my eyes when the lyrics began but when "forge ahead till the end we pray" hit i just broke. Then i got to the final walk and it was just tears all throughout.
@semekiizuio dude I was talking about Raubahn specifically . I'm well aware of the some actors who stayed from being in ARR . I'm saying Raubahn never had 2 American voice actors or 2 UK voice actors
I'm a Filipino and with the current grief and despair that the people of our country is going through, Close in the Distance is a comforting song. "In the dark you will not stray. Forge ahead, till the end, we pray."
Finally finished Endwalker...what a ride. The Walk messed me up, man. It truly is a tale of loss, and fire, and faith. You might think it's just a mere lyric within this song but it's a lyric within a song that's never held more true. They did so wonderfully with the music and the story writing just.. MMF.
The best part is realizing that, when you first get to this zone, it's playing as the background music. But it's so distorted it's hard to recognize it except for the more memorable beats. And as each 'event' happens, the song gets a little clearer. Finally culminating in it blaring out full force on The Walk.
@@Maria_Erias See, I'm half deaf so it was kind of hard for me to hear but I noticed as each event happened, ...it was like the events...BECAME each part of the song. Kind of like how each event 'HELPED' You towards your end goal. It was so amazingly done like??? THE WALK GOT ME. And it was so PERFECT.
@@KatHalifax I was crying all the way through this zone, which I expected from all the times previous to this zone that Endwalker made me cry tears of sorrow, joy, and occasionally relief. But I UGLY cried the moment the vocals kicked in and I started The Walk. Only the second video game to ever make me have to stop and compose myself, and I had to multiple times. Had to constantly wipe my eyes to read the dialogue, had no idea what I was doing in the final fights (except Zenos, I knew exactly what I was doing there, kicking his ass), and had to go back later to rewatch others play through The Walk to catch all the dialogue along the way because I didn't understand half of it over my own heaving sobs. I actually haven't touched the game since finishing Endwalker, not only to save up more of the patch stories to go through them all at once when the next expansion is announced, but because I don't know if my heart can handle it. Endwalker meant so damn much to me.
I've never been one to get emotional at games, its very rare for me. The Witcher 3 made me cry once. Endwalker alone made me cry 4 or 5 separate times, 3 in Ultima Thule
FFXIVs message is about hope, Even in the darkest times, In the worst of times, Hold onto hope, If it's real personal struggles, Saving the world, or even Fixing a bad game, Never lose sight of that small glimmer of hope. Ever since the release of ARR the message of holding onto hope and perusing through the hard times, Trying to make the world a better place one step at a time, has always been there, and honestly, it's truly beautiful.
After beating this expansion I returned to Ultima Thule about a week later to relive the area again. I had to walk all the way up since I hadn't unlocked flight. At the bed of flowers a single catgirl was standing in the middle. I was going to take a gpose but she was kind of there in the way so I started talking to her. We've been talking ever since and soon after that day got bonded in game. Officially dating 5+ months now and have met in person :) Sometimes all it takes is to walk to edge of the Universe to find what you were looking for.
I love the message to the players woven into the song from the developers. "Through you, we live ... Tales of loss, and fire, and faith. Every word on our hearts engraved. In the dark, you will not stray. Forge ahead to the end we pray." Very nice way of saying they experience what they've created through us.
Just thinking about this game puts tears in my eyes. The walk up that ever winding hill will forever be engraved on my heart. Best game ever made. Such a beautiful song to sign off on the story of the Realm that was Reborn from the Ashes.
Today, my coworker passed away. He was always smiling and cheerful person. This song isn’t only game music for me. I’m crying again with this song. Our life goes on.
I was crying throughout all of Ultima Thule, because of the crushing weight of everything that had happened. Being reminded of all of those we'd lost, and then losing even more of our friends along the way. It was almost too much. ... And then I heard Haurchefant's voice. And that was the push I needed to carry on, and forge ahead. This game has been my guiding light through my darkest times; through sickness, through loss of loved ones, and through unimaginable pain. And this one song culminates in everything we have ever done to get up to this point. I might have started playing FFXIV late in comparison to most, but it doesn't change the fact that I've experienced so much with the friends I've made in this community. To anyone who's actually reading this: I love all of you, and you're all Warriors of Light in my eyes. Even if you've never met me, you're still part of the best community I've ever been a part of.
Right back at ya. If this game hits you, it hits hard. At least for myself, the period I've spent with this game is by far and large my absolutely top entertainment experience. And considering how it took a decade and tons of personal reasons to get here, it's strange to realize that no other product may ever dethrone it.
This song is the absolute highlight of FF14 and marks the end of an era as well as the beginning of a new one. Thank you Naoki Yoshida and Masayoshi Soken for this masterpiece of a game! I can't wait to see what the next few years will have in store for FF14!!!
Man, the best magic in this song, for me, happens at 'Through you, we live...".Damn. No matter where, no matter how far we go, we'll be always be clutching onto memories and fulfilling promises to remember. They may be gone, but they are alive in our hearts, until our last day
When the vocals kicked in after G'raha left, my chest weighed heavy. As I walked up the path with the twins to Ostrakon Hena I read everything they had to say, making me think about the journey my Warrior of Light has gone through. When I heard "tales of loss, and fire, and faith" and the song started to swell, I just stopped. That's when I completely broke down. This phrase I've heard for so long, ever since I bought a subscription and saw it on the login screen, ever since I first watched (and continued rewatching) the trailer, hearing this song use those words at the end of this grand saga just absolutely got to me. Shadowbringers is absolutely beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I think the finale to Endwalker makes it my favorite expansion by far. I hadn't felt so emotional at the end of ANY story I've experienced. It was beautiful.
Thank you SO MUCH for making a point of showcasing the supremely unsettling moments captured in the frozen skyscape -- the hollow blue star, the exploding star, and the star with its core torn out, as well as the worlds lost to what appears to be the Void.
I just finished the MSQ....and I am in tears. To have played this game in 1.0 them come back to a realm reborn from ashes, and end it all at the edge of the universe hits home. FFXIV tells a story unlike any game I've played and I am honored to have been a part of this 10 year long journey.
Endwalker didn't hit me as hard as Shadowbringers did, but hearing this song (and the scene that accompanies it, with the voices of our friends guiding our way) had me bawling. Bravo, Soken. Bravo.
Agreed, overall shadow ringers was. More compelling story, but this one moment was really profound. I was tearing up the whole time and didn't want to walk up the stairs because I knew it would be over.
For me it’s the same, endwalker hits me hard too because it told the story of hermes and venat more. Especially venat’s sacrifices, the elpis part was so amazing.
@@squaresoft01 Shadowbringers was great, but to me it has no chance against endwalker. This expansion made me tear up and feel joy so many times over...
Just listening to this is bringing back all the emotions. This is the only game I've played where I wish I could wipe my memory just to play it all over again.
only recently came to the game and when i heard this song and lived through all that story ARR to EW up that point i was sobbing i still cry anytime i hear this but its tears of joy I love this game and how it made me feel y'all had a beautiful game and itll keep getting better You can hear the emotions in the lyrics for real!
I started FFXIV back in February of this year, and this game was the catalyst for getting out of a depressive slump I had been in since the pandemic started. I started talking to friends again, started laughing and crying again, and generally just came to appreciate life more. I just heard this song in game tonight. I started BAWLING. Never in my life has a piece of art impacted me so immensely. Never has one changed me so drastically. Never has one meant so much to me. I will be eternally grateful to this game for saving my life.
Anybody else have to stop and stand still after accepting the "Forge Ahead" quest when this song finally starts playing in full and just listen? Tearing up reading all these beautiful comments, FFXIV is an experience unlike any other, glad to be here with you all...
Sheesh.. I finished EW last night. Loved it through and through. I am at work now in my headphones listening to this.. I’m like welling up like crazy! Such a great story and message.. it hits so hard!
@@vegeta2998 after I finished Endwalker I put the game down for half a year. I felt It needed to be an ending. If it all ended here I would have been fine.
For me this song tells me this: even in the face great sorrow, despair or darkness, seek out the joys in your own life. By holding them in your heart, you will find the strength to keep going.
When dawntrail dropped. I spent a while here leveling picto and this song felt like a goodbye. A goodbye to the ancients. A goodbye to endwalker. A goodbye to venat...a goodbye to themis, emet-selch, hythlodaeus. Even a goodbye to the little song bird who never found the hope she longed for so deeply
This is so, so, so, so amazingly good. And yet it also has incredibly broad appeal... I can imagine people who have no interest in FF enjoying this just as much. Honestly, why isn't it topping the popular charts? It's just so much better than any 'mainstream' songs...
I legit didn't realize auto-play had moved to another FF track when this started playing. I liked the song so I looked to see what it was and was shocked to see this is from FF XIV. This song alone makes me want to finish the story, haha.
@@dabastard5950 Ha, you should try playing it, to see how hard this song hits you after you've made your way through 10 years worth of awesome, epic, emotional storytelling, and eventually, at the end of all things, you hear this music slowly growing, evolving, as you make your way through the shattered remnants of a landscape forged from despair... but even here, hope endures... Yeah, I love this game.
@@DodderingOldMan I could feel the loving and the passion through texts. I guess it’s finally time to give it a try. My friends also love the soundtracks, so Imma invite them and try to get into it x’D
Standing there....losing one companion after the other so the WOL could go on and then this song kicks in...and all I could feel in this moment was love. Pure love for this masterpiece. A journey well worth every single second. And I can't wait for it to continue. 🥰
It's impossible to describe how much this song means to me. It's like the entire story of FF14 condensed into perfection. That " Through you, we live " feels like even after they die, you carry all the people you've ever cared about with you, both ingame as the WoL and in real life.
I started playing this game in January and was immediately hooked on the story. I walked in blind for the game and it was completely worth it. I was in tears when my wol started taking those steps. This is by far my favorite game and I cherish the memories I make with my friends in the game. I love the community and I hope to see what's to come for the future of FFXVI.
Sometimes I go to Ultima Thule and just have my character sit in a sanctuary area and just listen and look at the gorgeous scenery. Such amazing work, all of it. It never fails to move me.
I never thought it was possible for a game to bring me to tears, but when walking up the final bit to the final trial and just hearing voices that I had come across on journey and seeing how far I had come, I broke down realizing how many people I had seen, in that moment they were more then just Npcs, they were comrades and friends.
This song brings me to tears every time I listen to it. I felt like my journey was coming to an end. Walking up those bridges was walking through my own memories of this beautiful world. My character stopped several times, fearful that the last paragraph of their tale was fading to a gray void. The creators of this world could not have immersed us anymore deeply. The realm reborn was a realm that was as epic, as endearing and as timeless as the world outside of our windows could ever be.
This song hits so much harder after I lost my sister a week ago. I miss her so much. But sadly I am in the middle of the sea and can't do anything about it.. but this song brings me comfort. It makes me relive the good memories with her.. Rest in peace big sister, I will always love you.
Was singing along to this cause i wanted to know the lyrics, and, when it got to "No time for mourning" which blends directly into "Morning rises-" i got choked up and had to pause and cry a lil. It's an absolutely beautiful use of identical-sounding words that incorporate the story of the song as well; There truly was no time to mourn before morning.
Just listening to this on loop after finishing the MSQ, it's hard to put to words just how beautiful how it all came together. This is a theme I'll always remember.
Here we are, at the end of an almost 10 year's journey. What a way to end this. I don't have enough words to describe this. Only tears to express and a big thank you to FFXIV team for giving us this kind of final fantasy gift
I broke down listening to this song and disecting the lyrics pieces by pieces made me cried miserably Me and my friend was brought into the game back in HW by another friend who we consider as a brother figure. On early 2018 he (brother figure) passed away lost to a battle of cancer. We were devastated and quit the game and went our own way. Slowly... I decided to come back in SHB and not long after my friend came back too so we continue our journey, we just forge ahead as we knew he (brother figure) would want us, and would look over us and pushes us. The lyric cuts deep, all of the journey we had, but we know your still here giving us that push. RIP Laxus Chan (Hyperion/Primal) may your soul rest well
2 years later and this one can still reduce me to tears. The moment it played in full I was inconsolable for 10 minutes straight. Today, I cry for a friend I've lost, who may never return...and who I hope to see again, someday down the line.
Me too. I’m going to Distant Worlds in November as my character for the game. I really hope they perform Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Flow and Close in the Distance
I had heard about final fantasy for years before this, but when I heard this song for the first time it single-handedly got me into this franchise. I’m currently checking out ffxv rn but once i’m more familiar w everything in the franchise i hope to finally play this game someday. On another note I wish this song was on spotify,,
To everyone no longer with us on this long journey, I want to say thank you for guiding us and paving the path to follow as we walk on and forge a new path ahead.
This is apparently sung from Ardbert's perspective, if you want to feel more sad
Yea..
I saw the video recently as well.
Prior to that video, it was theorized to be Gra'ha Tia (or the Crystal Exarch).
Which I thought to be it despite having some doubts.
Edit. My doubts were entirely based on feeling. I had no evidence to support it. So, I wouldnt ride on the "I was right all along"
Edit 2. It wasn't a video. It was an article.
I lost it emotionally when you let him take over to talk to his old mount.
So it’s been revealed during the Primals concert that it’s actually canonically ARDBERT singing.
So that’s why he’s the only voice to come to us twice in the final walk.
"To whomever receives this message out there in the vast reaches of the cosmos…
To someone, I hope, who looks up at the stars with the same wistful gaze as mine…
To you I say…forge ahead. May all our tomorrows be blessed with joy."
God when I first cleared that one my main, I had to go to the moon and sit at the Allagan crash site and cry for nearly an hour afterwards thanks to this song and that quote
That side quest is so good.

In my opinion. This song sums up 10 years of a amazing story. And it’s probably the most beautiful song of FFXIV
"Unbroken promises we made so long ago. You're still here."
I agree, even more because the lyrics "(Morning) rises on a land reborn from the ashes'
Neath the heavens
To sunset, blood-red skies tranquil after the storm
Blessed shadow
Turning, wending, always night follows day"
yeah but not for a music map.. I hate Ultima Tulle for that
This and Revenge of the Horde are quite possibly two of the best video game tracks of all time.

“If you like, I will tell you a tale. A tale of a world on the brink, of a people that never gave up on the future. Of a man who realised his grandest dreams, and then awakened to a grander reality”

Truly, a test of our reflexes.
I didn't need to cry even harder... Whyyyyy.

Ardbert, my darling. It was you all along..
I remember when we first met him, he came across as very pretentious, and he's changed so much since then.
That's character development for you ^^
My dad was watching me play through Endwalker, and he started crying for that part as well.
I'm sorry for your loss.

I just realized there's a verse that goes through all expansions
A land reborn from the ashes - ARR
'Neath the heavens - Heavensward
Blood-red skies tranquil after the storm - Stormblood
Blessed shadow - Shadowbringers

both footfalls and this do that and it's so cool
@@NeffyXIVand now the new theme of Dawntrail, too!
Koori, you miss the last one.
"Turnin, wending, always night follows day" - Endwalker
I know this was from a year ago but it also is linked to the scions mostly featured in each expansion:
Thancred - ARR (Ul'dah being the consensus for the "canon" starting town, and your first Scion partner)
Estinian - Heavensward (obvs)
Y'shtola and Urianger - Stormblood (while it was Lyse's expansion I think they represent overcoming the odds at all costs for the sake of everyone really well)
G'raha - Shadowbringers (this being where the music kicks in is all of your journey so far, and them all coming together to cheer you on is heart wrenching still)
The Twins - Endwalker (they were with you at the start of your journey though you didn't know it, now they see you through till the "end")
I can't even begin to describe why this song hits so hard, as someone that's been playing since 1.0. There's just not enough words.

This will be our wedding march in a month. This game accompanied our relationship from start til now. 8 years and 7 together. We were married in Eorzea before even being dating in real life.
I can't put in words how grateful we are for all the friendships and memories we made through the years.
Update:
Thank you so much everyone for your comments and wishes!!
This game was everything we had for 5 years of a far-distance-relationship back then. We were only able to see us 1-2 times a year in RL so this was our "home" :)
It's awesome to read so many comments sharing a similar story ♥
on April 6th 2024 we had our first anniversary as married couple, we celebrated with a big bowl of Ramen in our favorite restaurant.

Of course we are still at home in Eorzea and looking forward to our second honeymoon in Tural! ^^

Think: about why others do as they do, for what reasons you should act. For yourself.
Live in your life knowing you are where you are by the choices of your past

Answers!!!!!
Life doesn't give us purpose, we give life purpose.
"If nothing we do matters. . . then the only thing that matters is what we do."
Can't say I agree. To be happy is a purpose on itself, and there are many a thing beyond happiness that give me purpose just by living. Finding purpose isn't hard. What is hard, is enduring the pain of not having a purpose.

Next time someone asks me what FFXIV's story is about I can simply answer that it's a tale of loss, and fire, and faith XD
that is in fact what ff14 is about. spanning from 1.0 to endwalker, it was about the loss, the faith, and the fires of hope eternal.
A gripping tale with unbreakable bonds, noble sacrifice, and moments of levity to counterbalance the pathos.
Sadly a long part of it is being a pompous little twit's personal errand boy. But, once you're past that part, it gets golden.

When i saw that dialogue option, i didnt click past it for 10 minutes
you were never the warrior of light because you were the strongest, the wisest or the fastest. you were the warrior of light because where you saw others frozen in fear, you would step forward. in the face of false gods, tyrants, unspeakable monsters, ancient beings of unthinkable power you step forward. courage without fear isn't bravery, its foolishness. its only when you are filled with fear that one can truely show their bravery. the reason that line hits so hard is because up to this point you have never ben truly alone in your journey. this is the first time in the story that you have to walk forward alone, without the scions and without player comrades. i feel that the player being able to walk on in this moment is more of a trial than any that came before, especially since i've watched some "tough guy" streamers straight up break during this section of the story.

This is why we play finalfantasy games. Its the story and the music. There has never been a game franchise like Final fantasy delivering a great story and music. 30+ years of great stories and music.
This ❤🛐
Music has always been used in the Final Fantasy series to tell as much of a story as the actual words.
Months after finishing endwalker and this song still makes me cry.

"Funny thing. We're here, at the far end of the universe where no life should reasonably exist."
"Yet because of our friends' conviction, we are able to push on."
"Every encounter is another piece of what makes us what we are."
"A wonderous thing the internet."
"We may be on opposite sides of this star, but we can still communicate."
"So to you. The friend I met here at the edge of everything..."

"Now... walk on. See the end of this story with your own eyes."

Make a FFXIV fan cry without saying anything!
*turns on this, starts crying themselves*
After this comment, i went back to the video to 03:17, just laughed
Officially dating 5+ months now and have met in person :)
Sometimes all it takes is to walk to edge of the Universe to find what you were looking for.
Such a calm story
Tell me when you 2 have a fistfight to the death at the edge of the universe
Revenge arc when?
/r/thathappened
Our life goes on.
im sorry for your loss. life just hits us with these curved balls were not ready for.
For those we have lost. For those we can yet save.
The way this song built as you progressed through the zone was masterful.
And then G'raha. After that the full song opened up and after the events of 5.3. It broke me at that exact moment.
The fact the Vocals kick in after Graha leaves suggests he's the one singing.
Turns out it's Ardbert
To anyone who's actually reading this:
I love all of you, and you're all Warriors of Light in my eyes.
Ah yes,the Feelswalker Ultimate
This song is the absolute highlight of FF14 and marks the end of an era as well as the beginning of a new one.
Thank you Naoki Yoshida and Masayoshi Soken for this masterpiece of a game! I can't wait to see what the next few years will have in store for FF14!!!
Man, the best magic in this song, for me, happens at 'Through you, we live...".Damn.
No matter where, no matter how far we go, we'll be always be clutching onto memories and fulfilling promises to remember. They may be gone, but they are alive in our hearts, until our last day
Saem. The feels hit hard
This is the only game I've played where I wish I could wipe my memory just to play it all over again.
only recently came to the game and when i heard this song and lived through all that story ARR to EW up that point i was sobbing i still cry anytime i hear this but its tears of joy
I love this game and how it made me feel y'all had a beautiful game and itll keep getting better
You can hear the emotions in the lyrics for real!
Tearing up reading all these beautiful comments, FFXIV is an experience unlike any other, glad to be here with you all...
the fatter cat mount really adds something to this
Sheesh.. I finished EW last night. Loved it through and through. I am at work now in my headphones listening to this.. I’m like welling up like crazy! Such a great story and message.. it hits so hard!
this was the perfect place and theme to end off the game with, it felt like a long never ending journey was close to an end
If they ended FFXIV here I would not have complained. Was a great end of a journey
@@vegeta2998 after I finished Endwalker I put the game down for half a year. I felt It needed to be an ending. If it all ended here I would have been fine.
True but as they often say...
Every ending is but a new beginning for another...
For me this song tells me this: even in the face great sorrow, despair or darkness, seek out the joys in your own life. By holding them in your heart, you will find the strength to keep going.
3:24 I was just vibing with the song and not looking at the screen and then I looked at it and saw your mount. Made me giggle a bit.
I shared this song with a few non-gamer friends and they certainly loved it
I legit didn't realize auto-play had moved to another FF track when this started playing. I liked the song so I looked to see what it was and was shocked to see this is from FF XIV. This song alone makes me want to finish the story, haha.
Never played FFXIV but this hit hard for some reasons.. I love this game’s music
God I took for granted how FF storytelling might not be there one day. This was really the end. Always love.
I love the community and I hope to see what's to come for the future of FFXVI.
this song gave me goosebumps when playing Endwalker. It felt like the perfect song for this closing chapter. What a game.
Sometimes I go to Ultima Thule and just have my character sit in a sanctuary area and just listen and look at the gorgeous scenery. Such amazing work, all of it. It never fails to move me.
Best summed up by Emet quote of us and his declaration..You will not end our journey. Sooooooo great and epic HE said it.
This literally changes my mood. FFXIV has had the biggest impact on me out of any game I have ever played. Its a masterpiece!
I broke down listening to this song and disecting the lyrics pieces by pieces made me cried miserably
Me and my friend was brought into the game back in HW by another friend who we consider as a brother figure.
RIP Laxus Chan (Hyperion/Primal) may your soul rest well
Just finished Endwalker last night I could hardly express how this expansion made me feel other then it was simply beautiful.
When the time comes of my passing I seriously want this played at my funeral, I love it so much
2 years later and this one can still reduce me to tears. The moment it played in full I was inconsolable for 10 minutes straight. Today, I cry for a friend I've lost, who may never return...and who I hope to see again, someday down the line.
I cry every time I hear this cause I feel every word this game story hit my heart like I felt a real connection to the npcs through the journey
I just realized, from at 1:30 it seems to be telling the story of each of the expansions...
Ugh, the OST line of Endwalker have pretty lyrical heavy hits! I love it! Soken and his team outdid themselves once again!
8 months after EW Im still crying when hearing this song. Looking forward to hearing it live someday at a Distant Worlds performance
wait its been over 8 months since EW now?! WTF?! What is FFXIV doing to me Q_Q
Me too. I’m going to Distant Worlds in November as my character for the game.
I really hope they perform Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Flow and Close in the Distance
@Samurai Snake Going in March, Susan Calloway will be in performing.
I finished Endwalker this weekend, and man this song.
This is just as much a love song from the devs to us for the years as it has to do with the story itself
When I first heard this song I associated it with sadness. But now it is such a powerful song of hope! I can't help but feel good when I hear it! ❤
