  • The lightest mid-late 70s Pbass I have had in here and a real low end machine.
This 47 years old Pbass is a true representation fo the genius of Leo Fender and shows than even in those "dark" CBS days, some of these instruments were still made with high standards.
    Enjoy

Love it. It sounds great Andy. I've got a 76 too. It's sunburst and closer to 5kg, so way heavier than this one, but I love my one too.

I’m a 70s Fender fan as you’d expect. 74 P owner and I had a project 76 Jazz. It was a wreck but some tlc and I got nearly £1.5k for it. Both ash bodies but my P Bass is 11lbs and the Jazz was just under 9. Wish I’d kept it but cash flow was against me at the time 😢😊

Yeah so much misinformation about fenders from the 70s and the post CBS era in general
I would say that bass players have been more clued up than guitarists in that regard !
The weight can of course be an issue but it’s never been a deal breaker for me as I’m a studio guy , also as you mentioned some of these are light too! My 77/78 Antigua P bass is defo on the lighter side
The heaviest bass I’ve ever owned was a 68 telecaster bass ( basically fender first reissue of the original 50s p bass )
The lightest , a 67 mustang which I suspect is made of pine or basswood

What is something like that worth in excellent condition?
