    This was a great discussion. Marty, Nechochwen was one of those bands I kept hearing about from you, Matt, and Ben but never listened to. Upon your recommendation, I put in that album on today and man, first listen in it hits you so powerfully. What an impact! You are one hundred percent right, they could be huge. Thanks for putting out this material.

      @@letstalkmetal Its from one of my "On The Dark Path" episodes that I did last year. You guys ripped off my format. 😁
      I also did one with Marty where we talked about Fields of the Nephilim, and one with Dennis/Analog Archives where we dived into '90's era gangsta rap.
      All 3 were fun episodes. I would have kept that series going but I didn't want to keep paying for Streamyard.

      @@that-matt-guy I saw the FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM episode; it was really cool! They're a very interesting band.

    Great video. The debut Sulphur Aeon is outstanding, especially the opening track and the closing Fabio Frizzi cover, but the followup didn't do it for me nearly as much. The Immolation you picked is good but Majesty and Decay is my post-2010 album choice from them. That MGLA album pick is legit, so good. The new pick for me here is the Azelisassath that Myke mentioned, sounds fantastic.

    • @letstalkmetal
      @letstalkmetal 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks Simon! I agree that the 2nd SA is not my favorite; the increased focus on technicality worked but it isn't quite my style. Decent album but I'll pick the other 2 albums over it.

    • @HeavyMetallurgy
      @HeavyMetallurgy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Simon! SA to me are one of the leaders of that cavernous death metal style, but they bring more of an urgency and technical flair via older Morbid Angel to the table. I’ve enjoyed all that I’ve heard. Take care

    • @HeavyMetallurgy
      @HeavyMetallurgy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grav? Seems like we talked about them as well if that wasn’t the one you were thinking of. But they do have a surf rock, almost distortionless guitar sound. I know Myke and other really like them, but it never sat well with me. Thanks for watching.

    • @HeavyMetallurgy

      And regarding the price of Wuthering Heights... it seems like everyone is eager to call for the death of the CD medium, yet all the older releases START AT $20-$30. Ack!

    Another really great discussion idea! I’m only about 45 minutes in but if you are in a power metal mood at the moment Marty please check out LORD from Australia. Their last album called ‘Fallen Idols’ is one of their best. I’d say they are power/heavy metal at the core but have many other elements ranging from AOR to extreme metal. I’m totally down with people listening to whatever they want. You just got to decide if you’re ok with financially supporting an artist or a label who is a shit head. The older I get, I’m not.
