- Northern Tool Ironton 40 x 48 Steel Utility Trailer ASSEMBLY
Welcome back to Indy Homestead. Today we are showing you how to assemble the Ironton 40in x 48in steel utility trailer from Northern Tool. We have used this small trailer for many projects around our 4 acre homestead and it continues to be a helper in most things that we do outside.

A little bit about us: We are new to being homesteaders on TH-cam and we started our family homestead from scratch. We recently moved into this 100+ year old farmhouse with a little less than 4 acres, a couple barns, and a whole lot of potential. After being inspired by other homesteading channels, we decided to start our own to document our journey as a homesteading family.

Nicely done video, and outtakes too!
Noiiice, I was looking for a video exactly like this , thank you very much
Just received my Northern Tool trailer 30 minutes ago. This video was very helpful.
Just curious even though this video is 2 years old. Harbor freight has a similar model for $399 too. Is this pretty much the same chassis in a different brand or an improved model? Northern tool charges $200 just to ship this to CA and my harbor freight is just down the street. I've seen folk change the wheels and tires to a more highway compatible one.
Great job. I just bought this trailer myself. Your video was very helpful. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing music;)
Do you know how wide the total width of the trailer is, out of tire to outside of other tire? Trying to see if it would be suitable to be used with my ATV going in and out of the woods hauling firewood to the house. It may be to wide.
Awesome video, what size boards did you use and how many? I bought the same trailer, but i was going to do diamond plate for the flooring but its looking to be too expensive so wood it will be thanks for your time and effort
Glad the video was helpful, Juan! I used pressure treated decking boards measuring 1" x 5.5" for the base of the trailer bed.
@@IndyHomestead how did you mount them given that the holes don't line up well? Did you have to make more holes in the frame?

I did drill a few extra holes to meet my needs.
Ok, this is a great video demonstration and I truly appreciate it. I need to build a camper that I can live inside of that can be pulled by a bicycle. Can you explain to me what type of attachment I'd have to have to secure it to the seat post of my bicycle; I'd prefer to pull it that way. Also, I'll need to purchase one of those towing jackets with wheels so that it's more level and pulls better. If you have any ideas at all I would certainly appreciate hearing from you.
I'll have to figure out flooring and how to make those tail lights work; I need advice on that as well. Thanks.
looks like you had to add 2 additional holes for the deck boards?
Any chance you measured the axle spindle size? 1” or 1 1/16”?
