    Interesting teaching. Babaji.
    THANKS
    Like you. I'm a student of the Karma Kagyu school. Still reeling from the enlightening but painful Tilopian
    slap in the face by recent revelations of samsara/ bad karma frankly from the top down.
    Possibly from engaging in so much opulence.
    Can you tell how your dealing with it.
    I took refuge with the 16th Karmapa. I worked 2 years on the KTD Monastry in Woodstock NY.
    I knew and studied with Bardor Tulku and Khenpo Karthar till they parinivanad.
    Sincerely in the Dharma,
    Karma Zangpo

      Dear Karma Zangpo: Very good to e-meet a brother in the dharma. I am sorry for your disillusionment. This sort of thing is happening so much these days, in random ways and in various traditions. Earlier I felt like Buddhism was the least likely of the pathways to fall victim to such compromise and letdown, but there it is -- in Zen, in Tibetan, in the Chinese paths.
      Thankfully I have a defense. My main path is with my Paramguru, Sri Ramakrishna, and my main work is with his disciple, Swami Vivekananda. There has never been any scandal in that Order, nor is there likely to be.
      We are in the West, in modern times. It is the Kali Yuga, where spiritual darkness is as if natural. For that reason, we need to continue to be faithful and supportive of the dharma, of all dharmas of India, and hold the standard high. Hinduism has also fallen victim to spurious teachers and charlatans. Christianity too. As also, the working out of karmas takes many forms and directions. We can but observe, from a distance, and "go from place to place to help them out of darkness, maya's veils..." (Swami Vivekananda)
      Feel free to write here any time.
      Peace x 3,
      Babaji

    The more I abide in the self the more dreams I have....why is that?

    • @SRVvedanta
      @SRVvedanta  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is due to your abidance in Atman thinning the curtain of nescience between the waking state and the dreaming state. If your inward direction is aimed a-rightly and intensified over time, then you should eventually be having higher dreams as well.

    Rt the dual paths merely perpetuate ignorance.

    • @SRVvedanta
      @SRVvedanta  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      At a certain level this is true, but if it is authentic dualism (like Madhva's dvaita, etc.) then it perpetuates the dissolution of ignorance between the realm of worldly beings and the devotees of God with form. Millions of beings get their salvation in any given cycle of time via dualism. We would not want to take that away from them just because they are not ready for advaita yet.....

  • @raymondharvey1821
    @raymondharvey1821 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    But how you gain knowledge is through your meditation practice.

    • @SRVvedanta
      @SRVvedanta  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pertinent to the comment that 'meditation is how one gains knowledge,' this is true only if one acquaints oneself with traditional knowledge as related in the scriptures by the illumined souls of the past. Otherwise meditation either wastes time in mental blankness, or more authentically gets used to merge the small self (ahamkara) with the Formless Essence (Brahman/Buddha Nature).
      Said another way, there is a middle ground. If one spends some of one's meditation (dhyana) time in contemplation (dharana) of what has been read, heard, or been given by the acharya/guru during spiritual discourses, then that knowledge gets "digested" and becomes a part of the mind's thinking process, as its gleaned and accepted knowledge. This path utilizes Jnana Yoga, and is basically a route to liberation via the paths of Wisdom, or of Detachment. It also aids in the liberation of Transcendence as well.

    • @SRVvedanta
      @SRVvedanta  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to Sri Krishna, how an aspirant gains knowledge is through right action. Knowledge, next matured into dharma, then makes one ready for higher practices -- like meditation. To quote Him: "Knowledge left on its own and not matured and merged with Truth is dangerous."

  • @raymondharvey1821
    @raymondharvey1821 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's not as rare as you think.

    • @SRVvedanta
      @SRVvedanta  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are speaking about Truth, that is a rare possession of illumined beings only -- not of those who still have desires for and attachments to the world. We only wish it was more prevalent and available to the citizens of this world, but one has to qualify oneself for That. But short of disagreeing, the classes SRV puts out are helping people with that selfsame qualification. Let's support and get into harmony with such a mission.....

    Meditation for seeing God and not destroying karma, future or past, you do not know all the techniques. Meditation brings good health, brings equanimity and mastery of mind into your everyday consciousness. It destroys future karma. It also helps you to see your past karma.

    • @SRVvedanta
      @SRVvedanta  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you believe the purpose of Meditation is to bring good health, you have fallen into the trap of placing too much emphasis on the body. Meditation is essentially practice for when you give off this body, it is practice for the bardo state beyond death. Have you died on your cushion yet?

    • @MrOktony
      @MrOktony 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SRVAssociations good health is a by product of meditation, I have seen death not on my own cushion but though the mystic frog, and let me tell you, equanimity developed through meditation which is then brought into your conscious life will be with you when you have the final battle of the mind.

      Too many minds. You are attached to technique. The point is to use it and come out the other end. Like the raft sutra.
