Michelle, if your not having lucid dreams (recognizing your dreams within the dream) then you likely won't recognize the bardo state either. This was written in Tibet by a Vajrayana monk. I would suggest studying some Vajrayana, meditation and dream yoga if you really want to prepare yourself for death. Liberation on Hearing of the Between by Robert Thurman is a great translation.

If you call someone a Buddha who isn't really a Buddha, you have offended the Buddha's image in the minds of others who hear and believe you, leading them astray from the Buddha path! If you call someone a Buddha who really is a Buddha, you have offended the Buddha's image in your own mind by wrongly believing it is possible for the Buddha's image to ever be an object of conception!

Before I even seen this video, my gifted uncle taught these things as far back as I can remember. He also said that there are beings who got the map on how to get out but came down here to help others to get out. He also said that the majority of the people who are most aggressively oppressed in this life where the ones who oppressed and planted the seeds of oppression before now. I really liked how he describes our bodies being like stations or schools of thought. We shift perspectives by taking on a totally different body, location and set of challenges to learn from the errors of our ways and to gain wisdom for the soul. This teacher had the spelling of deity right the first time. The students, thinking they were right, convinced him it was incorrect and he changed it. This in itself is a lesson. Go with your gut instinct, led by positive intention. Trust in the self, ego will always try to deceive ;)

Hi Steve! Thank a lot for explanation! I didn't read this book but your explanation resonates with the teachings of my Lama who is the disciple of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche. I agree that Dzogchen realization is possible even during life and certainly during the transition (so called death). I'd like to add that according to historical facts, this book was composed by Great Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), who was a fully realized Buddha of those times, not some monks. The only thing is that translation might be inaccurate and without a lineage holder teacher guidance it's very difficult to interprete such sacred teachings by our dualistic minds (which is so widespread in the West, people read a book and think they know it and think they got it :) ), yet is a step forward. I agree with you that all the religions and teachings are interconnected and refer to light as a source. My Lama said that when we are able to see this light in all beings and see no separation (see yourself in others) this is a good sign of liberation. We all should start with compassion and love to all, we should try to recognize this light in everything, to recognize phenomena as they are with no labels of our dualistic perception. I’ve always known that we are (I am) the light that we (I) seek. I’ve taken moments in my life where I’m awake then something happens and I fall asleep. I realize it’s the tv, it’s social media, I have to quiet my mind and listen. With all of that understanding and plus more, I come to realize that we’re all perfect! To realize in the moments that we’re asleep and awake is just mind blowing as well as having these death experiences which happens consistently due to CHANGE. Thank you for sharing.. I think it's particularly sad that most of whom u help are those struggling with addiction. It seems to me drugs would be a way to escape the feeling of being here without actually checking out, so to speak.. So the attachment of the addiction dooming the person to more time spent in this reality is truly a most cruel and harsh form of self affliction. It's not easy to look clearly at this society without feelings of disgust and hate. I can't blame anyone for wishing to blur the glare of it in any way possible.. Those who do are despised by the majority of society, of which i believe are indifferent to the suffering of others and typically benefit from it, the same element to put things in such a wretched state that the sight of it is painful to the more sensitive and empathic of us. It makes sense that ppl feel overwhelmed by the evil and greed. By the time the addict realizes the source of the pain, they are usually too eaten up by the drugs to engage in constructive solutions.
The druggies in my family took drugs not because society was so appalling, but because they were too lazy, inept, and socially unskilled to actually fit into the matrix. They wanted to fit but in an easy way. Some of it is hardwired/genes. They are now the "evil and greedy" ones.

I have read the Bardo Thodol once as well as listening to it on audiobook around 5 times, with sometimes more attentive than others. I always received new information each time going through the book. Even then it allowed me to obtain new feelings and understandings. I don't know what told me to watch your video and I don't really care but I honestly was not prepared for the amount of new information and understanding that you were about to deliver to me. I have been trying to have dialogue with a loved one on these subjects in the Book and having no success. Not because of them, but because of my inability to break down these metaphysical, spiritual, and esoteric subjects in a way which are easily understandable. I never had a moment of confusion during your lecture and that doesn't really do you justice as to how eloquently you articulate this subject. ❤ Thank you so much I'm kind of still digesting the energy right now :). Gonna watch it a few more times.

All my life I have never feared being alone because I never felt like I was alone, I know I am by myself yet feel the company of a infinite amount of other souls. Does this have significance? Also, I have seen the white light but was not near death, my one and only time doing DMT and it flew me to a void where the bright white light told me I should be at peace and not fear. I also seen this light while in deep dream state with the same message yet less intense. I never thought it would have been myself in spirit form telling me what matters, thank you so much for this video.

You're an excellent teacher. Thank you. If I recall, years ago, I read either Tibetan book of living and dying, or the dead....it was very depressing and dramatic on how to care for someone leaving the movie theater. Even days after the passing, the care of the body and praying. Is all that really necessary?
In my opinion, no. ... But the reason for that is discipline, as it takes significant focus (and compassion) to attend to all those details, which can be helpful in understanding the death process. As Buddha himself taught, everyone has their own pathway back to the light ... and I sure wouldn't want to rely on someone tending to my dead body "correctly" in order for me to get there! Ultimately the idea is about staying energetically connected to a loved one who has transition to the next bardo.
moral of the story... If you want out of this trap you give up all attachments to this trap. what you love, what you hate, who you are, who you are not, it's all a Story of you acted out by the Ego, and none of its real.. you are free to go when you figure this out. The Ego is the suit you wear created by the system.. it has no zipper so it's very hard to find the way out of it. But what about this whole understanding about learning who we are, about being Spirit who was bored and came here to experience? Well, that's a story that's been passed down for centuries and ridiculous when you really examine it.. What kind of God/pure spirit doesn't KNOW ALL, and would be bored? What kind of Pure Spirit needs lessons? If you are the ALL, then every story is already within you. Either we are not Spirit, but lesser entities who got conned into this reality to possibly learn or worse be slaves, Or what seems more likely is that we got conned into this prison to steal from us Our Spiritual Essence. There is a choice... Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, once you realize that a wizard created this shithole, and put you in a straight jacket(ego) Just Demand... I Want to go HOME.. or better Yet I AM HOME, I AM FREE.
For the most part he did a good job explaining it. But I wanted to add a little more information starting at 24:17 where he introduce different color of light as exiting point. It is exiting point and it is not exiting point. Let me explain, and take it as a grain of salt. These lights that one begin to see are different frequency that appear as one go through the Bardo. Another word there are many different planets in our universe, each planet depend on the society on that planet vibrating different frequency. During this time if one have not yet recognize their true nature, if he or she take one these light he or she will be rebirth into that planet. This is why the textbook talk about different soft such as blue light, soft orange light etc. If you are a light person while you are living more or likely you will be drawn into a high frequency of light which rebirth you into a good planet where society are peaceful and high spiritual society. If you behave badly then depend on your mind will be drawn into a lower frequency and rebirth into a harsh society. But if you manage not picking any of the light your mind have presented than you will remain here on Earth or which ever planet you die on. Another word if you want to rebirth on a higher spiritual society in our universe practice compassion, loving kindness and elevated your mind frequency when you died you will be drawn into their energies and rebirth there. No matter where you rebirth, it is still a learning process for awakening, Earth just happens to be one of the Goldilocks plain of existing. Not too much Chaotic (Hell) that made it hard to be awaken and not too comfortable (heavenly) that one forget about spiritual awakening.
Okay this is very important. He is right, there's no such thing as death. Only body can die. I feel like I need to leave this here too. I've had this experience where I found the truth. I was in place beyond time. I know it wasnt a dream, like he said when you know something is truth it's truth. It was like a path. I saw all my past lives. I'm sure I have lived more than 10 times. I was seeing them but in the same time I was in them. I got killed so many times in many different ways. Now I know there's no need to be afraid to die. Everytime I died I came back to this place beyond time. I call it like this because Im still looking for answers and where I was. So after so many deaths and returns to that place I realized there's no need to be afraid to die and I wasnt afraid anymore. It's like you're out of something. Now I will describe the place. This place was so intense. I was on the path, on my left was water but there were many things there. On my right was also many weird things, I cant remember all of this now. I know that this place was so different, green, full of colors and beautiful. While being on this path I was thrown in my past lifes, not all at once . Every time I died I came back there and walked and saw many things I cant even explain them because I remember it unconsciously now. Then I experienced next and next and next life. I remember I wasnt alone there. At some point, idk which life I was experiencing, let's say 7 life. I died, came back in that place and there were people/souls waiting for me, I'm sure there were more than 5 of them. They were always there with me. At the begining I wasnt sure who they were and I was scared of them a little but then I realized they must be my friends, I am very empath person. I felt that I can trust them and they were with me always. And idk if it is possible but I am looking for them. I dont know how to find them or they're looking for me. But I am lost. I wish I could be together like I was in there. So let's come back to that place. I experienced the last life. And now I was only passing through that place and looking at all those beautiful things. I remember face of Jesus above water. He was in colorfull circle. There were so many colors. I was confused and I passed through him. I feel bad now.. At some point I was riding white horses with my friends but this is not important. Oh there's a thing. I cant remember how they looked like. This annoys me so much but it's probably not important if they reincarnated. Because of course they definitely look different and have different gender and stuff. I know that we were wearing similar clothes, if that was our clothes. So from the BEGINING of this experience everything was colorfull and there was so many thing floating around. But the longer I was there things started to change. I saw trees in the distance, big and green. At some point everything was covered in snow. The ice formed on water, the trees was white, everything was white in snow. I felt something weird. I felt like I have to get out of there. I still dont know why. At first I though I am afraid of something, that something is chasing me. I think it might be time. I was probably running out of time. We stopped under the trees. I felt the urge to get out of there. I dont know what feeling it was tbh. I knew that to get out of there I have to die. You have no idea in what state of mind I was. I felt like portal is closing and I have to leave. Idk... There comes the sad part. So I was sitting on horse and I knew I have to do something (die) to get out. I looked at my friends to remember them and the path. But I cant remember their faces. I jumped to the frozed water. I hitted the ice, broke through it and fell in the water. The sad thing is that in the moment of jumping one of my friends yelled at me to 'WAIT' It bothers me to this day. I wish I could... So I was under the water. I have seen the hole I made in the ICE with my body and I was slowly fainting. You might think it was scary. It wasnt. I wasnt scared at all. After all these deaths there wasnt even a single fear in me. It was peacfull. The hole in the ice I was looking at while being in the water started to blurry more and more. Then I woke up in bed and took a huge breath. Actually I cant remember when this happened but it was in 2018. I am looking for information and more answers. Reincarnation is real, do not fear death and remember to be a good person.
I experienced the white light in August of 2012. I’ve been trying to find others ever since. I’m aware of psilocybin now, and I have met the transcendental other/The Father/ God. The white light experience happened 6 years before I ever found psychedelics though. I was completely sober, awake, and aware when I went out of body, and became the white light. My best friend was 4 ft in front of me, and saw the same entity that I saw in the quantum world appear behind me in our 3D world with his naked eye. What a simple and great explanation. I will always be open-minded, but I don't believe there is a greater truth perspective than that. I'm even a student of the Course in miracles, and I clearly see many similarities. Let's get back home!
I remember watching this cool video years ago. It was a time when I had no understanding of non dual awareness. And I took the *"light"* to mean literal light. Now, since I know the true meaning, I have found a deeper appreciation of this cool video.
Guru Rimpoche wrote it. He was Stated in 3 Sutras that he would incarnate as Guru Pabasimbava to teach the Bhutanese then after travel teaching a secret practice. He wrote the book in question, his it to be found when & by whom he intended. There are more than 1 translations & the original isn't considered most accurate by many Bhuddhists. Robert Thurman, PhD, who is a Harvard grad now teaches at Columbia University as an authority on Bhuddism. He has translated the book as well. You may want to consult a Tibetan Lama on your choice & meanings. It's too dangerous to take incorrectly or from misunderstanding. Guru Rimpoche is a fascinating Buddha & his history is quite beautiful & existing. Pabasimbava n Bhutan. It's said he rode in on his consort a white tiger. He did leave a magnificent impression as that incarnation & the book was worthy of his expenditures...

Bardo Thodol certainly has varying meanings depending upon the source and translation ... the definition "space between" is consistent with "liberation in transitional state" in that during bardo (between lives) we can experience liberation from the illusion of self. (We can also do that in the physical state.)
Very good ,explanation ofory of the model of the Bardos. Missing is the concept of what we experience in the non-dual state beyond identification with names and forms. To experience That (Sat-Chit-Ananda), do the following: access "Mahamritunjaya mantra - Sacred Sound Choir", and "Om Namah Shivaya - Shivananda Adi". Listen to each for 5 min per day for 2 weeks. Tat Tvam Asi - "I am Than, you are That, all this is That", whether with or without a physical body.

My mother died yesterday Dec. 28/21- it was her time, she was very unhappy most of her life, having endured a violent, abusive marriage- and family patterns of tragedy and inappropriate behavior get passed down. Great question, Anon ... and the answer is because opioids mimic endorphins in the brain and typically disrupt the endogenous production of morphine (hence the name endorphins) and the BEST way to restart or revitalize the down-regulated endorphin system of the individual affected by opioid chemical dependence is to exercise, laugh and PURSUE SPIRITUALITY as spirituality has been proven to enhance endorphin production. Michelle, if your not having lucid dreams (recognizing your dreams within the dream) then you likely won't recognize the bardo state either. This was written in Tibet by a Vajrayana monk. I would suggest studying some Vajrayana, meditation and dream yoga if you really want to prepare yourself for death. Liberation on Hearing of the Between by Robert Thurman is a great translation.

Before I even seen this video, my gifted uncle taught these things as far back as I can remember. He also said that there are beings who got the map on how to get out but came down here to help others to get out. He also said that the majority of the people who are most aggressively oppressed in this life where the ones who oppressed and planted the seeds of oppression before now. I really liked how he describes our bodies being like stations or schools of thought. We shift perspectives by taking on a totally different body, location and set of challenges to learn from the errors of our ways and to gain wisdom for the soul. I can say a lot more but all of this resonates with me. Thank you!
@G M It might not make sense to you but it makes perfect sense to me. The oppressor will become the oppressed and it will stay that way until both realize that they are really each other. That's the real hell. Repeating stupidity and ignorance over and over again, while experiencing the choices that come along with it.

This teacher had the spelling of deity right the first time. The students, thinking they were right, convinced him it was incorrect and he changed it. This in itself is a lesson. Go with your gut instinct, led by positive intention. Trust in the self, ego will always try to deceive ;)

Hi Steve! Thank a lot for explanation! I didn't read this book but your explanation resonates with the teachings of my Lama who is the disciple of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche. I agree that Dzogchen realization is possible even during life and certainly during the transition (so called death). I'd like to add that according to historical facts, this book was composed by Great Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), who was a fully realized Buddha of those times, not some monks. The only thing is that translation might be inaccurate and without a lineage holder teacher guidance it's very difficult to interprete such sacred teachings by our dualistic minds (which is so widespread in the West, people read a book and think they know it and think they got it :) ), yet is a step forward. I agree with you that all the religions and teachings are interconnected and refer to light as a source. My Lama said that when we are able to see this light in all beings and see no separation (see yourself in others) this is a good sign of liberation. We all should start with compassion and love to all, we should try to recognize this light in everything, to recognize phenomena as they are with no labels of our dualistic perception. Thank you for posting this precious material! I hope your videos will benefit all!

I’ve always known that we are (I am) the light that we (I) seek. I’ve taken moments in my life where I’m awake then something happens and I fall asleep. I realize it’s the tv, it’s social media, I have to quiet my mind and listen. With all of that understanding and plus more, I come to realize that we’re all perfect! To realize in the moments that we’re asleep and awake is just mind blowing as well as having these death experiences which happens consistently due to CHANGE.

When I was 17-18 I've read the Bardo Thodol for the first time. Now I am 61 years of age and I am still learning . Good explaining of the book. My complements.
Thank you for sharing.. I think it's particularly sad that most of whom u help are those struggling with addiction. It seems to me drugs would be a way to escape the feeling of being here without actually checking out, so to speak.. So the attachment of the addiction dooming the person to more time spent in this reality is truly a most cruel and harsh form of self affliction. It's not easy to look clearly at this society without feelings of disgust and hate. I can't blame anyone for wishing to blur the glare of it in any way possible.. Those who do are despised by the majority of society, of which i believe are indifferent to the suffering of others and typically benefit from it, the same element to put things in such a wretched state that the sight of it is painful to the more sensitive and empathic of us. It makes sense that ppl feel overwhelmed by the evil and greed. By the time the addict realizes the source of the pain, they are usually too eaten up by the drugs to engage in constructive solutions.
The druggies in my family took drugs not because society was so appalling, but because they were too lazy, inept, and socially unskilled to actually fit into the matrix. They wanted to fit but in an easy way. Some of it is hardwired/genes. They are now the "evil and greedy" ones.

And I might add the ability to stay true to YOUR path.

I have read the Bardo Thodol once as well as listening to it on audiobook around 5 times, with sometimes more attentive than others.
I always received new information each time going through the book. Even then it allowed me to obtain new feelings and understandings. I don't know what told me to watch your video and I don't really care but I honestly was not prepared for the amount of new information and understanding that you were about to deliver to me.
I have been trying to have dialogue with a loved one on these subjects in the Book and having no success. Not because of them, but because of my inability to break down these metaphysical, spiritual, and esoteric subjects in a way which are easily understandable.
I never had a moment of confusion during your lecture and that doesn't really do you justice as to how eloquently you articulate this subject. ❤

All my life I have never feared being alone because I never felt like I was alone, I know I am by myself yet feel the company of a infinite amount of other souls. Does this have significance? Also, I have seen the white light but was not near death, my one and only time doing DMT and it flew me to a void where the bright white light told me I should be at peace and not fear. I also seen this light while in deep dream state with the same message yet less intense. I never thought it would have been myself in spirit form telling me what matters, thank you so much for this video.

Absolutely! Because this is Truth. The quicker we all realize that we are teammates playing the same "game" from different angles, the better off we will all be. In the meantime, the sooner each of us "individually" realize this, the better off we will all be. It's why we all must, in Buddha's words, "strive for our own liberation" and why Paul teaches in the Bible to "work out your own salvation." If you already have the "company of other souls" feeling, you are well on your way to liberation and salvation. Namaste!

If I recall, years ago, I read either Tibetan book of living and dying, or the dead....it was very depressing and dramatic on how to care for someone leaving the movie theater. Even days after the passing, the care of the body and praying. Is all that really necessary?
In my opinion, no. ... But the reason for that is discipline, as it takes significant focus (and compassion) to attend to all those details, which can be helpful in understanding the death process. As Buddha himself taught, everyone has their own pathway back to the light ... and I sure wouldn't want to rely on someone tending to my dead body "correctly" in order for me to get there! Ultimately the idea is about staying energetically connected to a loved one who has transition to the next bardo.
moral of the story... If you want out of this trap you give up all attachments to this trap. what you love, what you hate, who you are, who you are not, it's all a Story of you acted out by the Ego, and none of its real.. you are free to go when you figure this out. The Ego is the suit you wear created by the system.. it has no zipper so it's very hard to find the way out of it.
But what about this whole understanding about learning who we are, about being Spirit who was bored and came here to experience? Well, that's a story that's been passed down for centuries and ridiculous when you really examine it.. What kind of God/pure spirit doesn't KNOW ALL, and would be bored? What kind of Pure Spirit needs lessons? If you are the ALL, then every story is already within you.
Either we are not Spirit, but lesser entities who got conned into this reality to possibly learn or worse be slaves, Or what seems more likely is that we got conned into this prison to steal from us Our Spiritual Essence.

For the most part he did a good job explaining it. But I wanted to add a little more information starting at 24:17 where he introduce different color of light as exiting point. It is exiting point and it is not exiting point. Let me explain, and take it as a grain of salt. These lights that one begin to see are different frequency that appear as one go through the Bardo. Another word there are many different planets in our universe, each planet depend on the society on that planet vibrating different frequency. During this time if one have not yet recognize their true nature, if he or she take one these light he or she will be rebirth into that planet. This is why the textbook talk about different soft such as blue light, soft orange light etc. If you are a light person while you are living more or likely you will be drawn into a high frequency of light which rebirth you into a good planet where society are peaceful and high spiritual society. If you behave badly then depend on your mind will be drawn into a lower frequency and rebirth into a harsh society. But if you manage not picking any of the light your mind have presented than you will remain here on Earth or which ever planet you die on. Another word if you want to rebirth on a higher spiritual society in our universe practice compassion, loving kindness and elevated your mind frequency when you died you will be drawn into their energies and rebirth there. No matter where you rebirth, it is still a learning process for awakening, Earth just happens to be one of the Goldilocks plain of existing. Not too much Chaotic (Hell) that made it hard to be awaken and not too comfortable (heavenly) that one forget about spiritual awakening.

Okay this is very important. He is right, there's no such thing as death. Only body can die. I feel like I need to leave this here too.
I've had this experience where I found the truth.
I was in place beyond time. I know it wasnt a dream, like he said when you know something is truth it's truth.
It was like a path. I saw all my past lives. I'm sure I have lived more than 10 times. I was seeing them but in the same time I was in them. I got killed so many times in many different ways. Now I know there's no need to be afraid to die.
Everytime I died I came back to this place beyond time. I call it like this because Im still looking for answers and where I was.
So after so many deaths and returns to that place I realized there's no need to be afraid to die and I wasnt afraid anymore. It's like you're out of something.
Now I will describe the place.
This place was so intense. I was on the path, on my left was water but there were many things there. On my right was also many weird things, I cant remember all of this now. I know that this place was so different, green, full of colors and beautiful.
While being on this path I was thrown in my past lifes, not all at once . Every time I died I came back there and walked and saw many things I cant even explain them because I remember it unconsciously now. Then I experienced next and next and next life.
I remember I wasnt alone there. At some point, idk which life I was experiencing, let's say 7 life. I died, came back in that place and there were people/souls waiting for me, I'm sure there were more than 5 of them. They were always there with me.
At the begining I wasnt sure who they were and I was scared of them a little but then I realized they must be my friends, I am very empath person. I felt that I can trust them and they were with me always. And idk if it is possible but I am looking for them. I dont know how to find them or they're looking for me. But I am lost. I wish I could be together like I was in there.
So let's come back to that place.
I experienced the last life. And now I was only passing through that place and looking at all those beautiful things.
I remember face of Jesus above water. He was in colorfull circle. There were so many colors. I was confused and I passed through him. I feel bad now..
At some point I was riding white horses with my friends but this is not important. Oh there's a thing. I cant remember how they looked like. This annoys me so much but it's probably not important if they reincarnated. Because of course they definitely look different and have different gender and stuff.
I know that we were wearing similar clothes, if that was our clothes.
So from the BEGINING of this experience everything was colorfull and there was so many thing floating around. But the longer I was there things started to change. I saw trees in the distance, big and green. At some point everything was covered in snow. The ice formed on water, the trees was white, everything was white in snow.
I felt something weird. I felt like I have to get out of there. I still dont know why. At first I though I am afraid of something, that something is chasing me. I think it might be time. I was probably running out of time.
We stopped under the trees. I felt the urge to get out of there. I dont know what feeling it was tbh.
I knew that to get out of there I have to die.
You have no idea in what state of mind I was. I felt like portal is closing and I have to leave. Idk...
There comes the sad part.
So I was sitting on horse and I knew I have to do something (die) to get out. I looked at my friends to remember them and the path. But I cant remember their faces.
I jumped to the frozed water. I hitted the ice, broke through it and fell in the water.
The sad thing is that in the moment of jumping one of my friends yelled at me to 'WAIT'
It bothers me to this day.
I wish I could...
So I was under the water. I have seen the hole I made in the ICE with my body and I was slowly fainting. You might think it was scary. It wasnt. I wasnt scared at all. After all these deaths there wasnt even a single fear in me.
It was peacfull. The hole in the ice I was looking at while being in the water started to blurry more and more.
Then I woke up in bed and took a huge breath.
Actually I cant remember when this happened but it was in 2018.
I am looking for information and more answers.
Reincarnation is real, do not fear death and remember to be a good person.

I experienced the white light in August of 2012. I’ve been trying to find others ever since. I’m aware of psilocybin now, and I have met the transcendental other/The Father/ God.
The white light experience happened 6 years before I ever found psychedelics though. I was completely sober, awake, and aware when I went out of body, and became the white light. My best friend was 4 ft in front of me, and saw the same entity that I saw in the quantum world appear behind me in our 3D world with his naked eye. There is way more to the story obviously, but I really just wanted to confirm that some people are experiencing this white light/ quantum consciousness.

I remember watching this cool video years ago. It was a time when I had no understanding of non dual awareness. And I took the *"light"* to mean literal light. Now, since I know the true meaning, I have found a deeper appreciation of this cool video.

Guru Rimpoche wrote it. He was Stated in 3 Sutras that he would incarnate as Guru Pabasimbava to teach the Bhutanese then after travel teaching a secret practice.
He wrote the book in question, his it to be found when & by whom he intended.
There are more than 1 translations & the original isn't considered most accurate by many Bhuddhists.
Robert Thurman, PhD, who is a Harvard grad now teaches at Columbia University as an authority on Bhuddism. He has translated the book as well. You may want to consult a Tibetan Lama on your choice & meanings. It's too dangerous to take incorrectly or from misunderstanding.
Guru Rimpoche is a fascinating Buddha & his history is quite beautiful & existing. Pabasimbava n Bhutan. It's said he rode in on his consort a white tiger. He did leave a magnificent impression as that incarnation & the book was worthy of his expenditures...

Bardo Thodol certainly has varying meanings depending upon the source and translation ... the definition "space between" is consistent with "liberation in transitional state" in that during bardo (between lives) we can experience liberation from the illusion of self. (We can also do that in the physical state.)
Very good ,explanation ofory of the model of the Bardos. Missing is the concept of what we experience in the non-dual state beyond identification with names and forms. To experience That (Sat-Chit-Ananda), do the following: access "Mahamritunjaya mantra - Sacred Sound Choir", and "Om Namah Shivaya - Shivananda Adi". Listen to each for 5 min per day for 2 weeks. Tat Tvam Asi - "I am Than, you are That, all this is That", whether with or without a physical body.

My mother died yesterday Dec. 28/21- it was her time, she was very unhappy most of her life, having endured a violent, abusive marriage- and family patterns of tragedy and inappropriate behavior get passed down. Great question, Anon ... and the answer is because opioids mimic endorphins in the brain and typically disrupt the endogenous production of morphine (hence the name endorphins) and the BEST way to restart or revitalize the down-regulated endorphin system of the individual affected by opioid chemical dependence is to exercise, laugh and PURSUE SPIRITUALITY as spirituality has been proven to enhance endorphin production.
