  • Suzuki Swift - Jon Coupland Cars '12 Days Of Christmas Countdown' - Day 7 #suzukiswift
    With just a week to go until the 'big day' and im still doing our 'alternative' take on the 12 Days Of Christmas. Each day, right up until Christmas day I will be counting down 12 cars that have come and gone from the Jon Coupland collection, discussing their history, the work we did on them and their future. Some I regret letting go. Others. Well. We are glad they have found new homes.
    Day 7 sees this ... a 2009 Suzuki Swift 1.3 GL - a car I saw for sale whilst walking the dog - you know the drill. Bought the car (in the dark ... don't do it) put Crystal in the boot and drove home. A few hundred pounds profit AND a car that's still going strong and being enjoyed by the lad I sold it to 11,000 miles later. Christmas is saved (following bad reviews from the MGF owners club!)
    Don't forget to tune in tomorrow for another from the archives

    Hi Jon as a previous owner of a 2007 Suzuki Swift Sport, I can tell you that the steering wheel not returning back to centre is normal for this car, check the forums it seems like it’s a weird quirk of owning one of these.

    • @JonCoupland
      @JonCoupland  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's interesting! There still certainly was a bit of a quirk after it having a new steering rack that didn't feel quite right but that's good to know

    Jon, how very true, I just sold my skoda fabia recently as i have just bought a brand new skoda karoq, I got it fully detailed. advertised it, one of the retired drivers from work saw my ad and got in touch. he was amazed at the condition, and the vast amount of paperwork for parts bought, and work done. He was so impressed, he gave me the full asking price! It always pays to clean your car before you sell!

    Hi Jon a great video have always admired the swift and they have always had a good reputation for reliability and value for money
    My brother had the larger baleno and never had an issue other than routine servicing in 5 years great to see the car still running and has been a good car for its new owner
    Definitely have a sport version they are a hoot to drive!

    Yes, nice cars ,Jon. i have no experience of the Swift , but I have of a Baleno .. which was nice to drive very light easily, really if it wasn't for the cheaper plastics on the interior... I think I would have purchased one 👍

    I've recently purchased a ZC32 Swift Sport (ie. a generation newer than this one) and it is the most amusing motorcar I've had in a long while. The modest performance and lively character means you have to rag it everywhere - reminds me of the (original) Mini I had in my youth. The 1.5 in the video is probably a great first car for someone as you get half decent performance but not expensive insurance as it isn't seen as a hot hatch.

    Good little cars those. Im impressed that was a Scottish car originally too. Parks Suzuki in East Kilbride the original dealer judging by the plates. I suppose not yet rare enough to be worth holding on to once the initial itch had been scratched

    The Swift is a car that intrigues me, they have a good reputation but never had the opportunity to drive one. Hopefully one day!
    I think you did the right thing parting with this one Jon, a good a car as it is, the spec isn’t great, it’s a bit ordinary and I’d miss not having air conditioning.
    The Sport model would fit far better in your collection Jon, James from Chops Garage certainly loves his example!

    To appease the MGF owners you need to publicly admit the MLS gasket is the missing link in the K Series rise to greatness.
    On a serious note, I loved my 416 which I only sold due to a cheap monogram ZT appearing in my office carpark of all places...

    • @JonCoupland

      I think they are in agreement that an elastomer gasket is now the way forward :p

    I always liked the look of these Swifts but having suffered with the horrible discomfort which comes with the Second generation Wagon R+ / Vauxhall Agila thing, i didn't really look too closely at these which is a shame as most reviews are positive.

    • @JonCoupland
      @JonCoupland  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think they are genuinely a drivers car - although i do have a soft spot for the WagonR too

    • @RikAindow
      @RikAindow หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JonCoupland we had a few Wagon R in my family. The first one was built in Japan judging by the specs and how well built it was. Indicators on the right, aircon on an early 90s car, and the revcounter went up to something daft like 10,000 RPM.
      The second one was European built, the same as the one rebadged as the Vauxhall Agila and was very basic, no aircon, manual central locking, and the seat and steering wheel weren't aligned so for a bigger driver like me, it soon put strain on my back as the pedals were off to the left, and the steering wheel off to the right.

    hello I want to buy Opel Corsa E 1.4 90 hp 2018-2019 with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. is this car reliable? are there any problems with the engine and gearbox? thank you

      Sadly I'm not an expert. Someone here may help

  • @Brauschemann
    @Brauschemann หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    No, I don't think you should have kept it, you have to draw the line somewhere. At least you made a couple of hundred out of it, but no more than you deserved with the work you and your dad put into it.
    Hopefully you have learnt not to buy in the dark, or the rain, or whilst wearing your rose tinted glasses, or from somebody not at their home address, or having not asked about whether it's ever been written off, or been in an accident etc. etc. etc. !
    It was a nice little car though !

    • @JonCoupland
      @JonCoupland  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm honestly not that bad at buying cars ;) you only see the ones I want you to see 🤣 some are boring and are just quick flippers to make £500 or so. Thanks for watching the series

    • @Brauschemann
      @Brauschemann หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JonCoupland Oh no I didn't think you are bad at buying cars at all, as I'm sure many of your followers would love a few of your cars, particularly at some of the bargain prices you sometimes pay. Hopefully my previous words though will make some inexperienced buyers consider when to look at cars for sale. This series of yours is fun; I'm seeing videos of cars which I would never had bothered with otherwise.
