Ruby did the petals first in red trailer kinda, but the first time we really properly see the swirl is in the food fight in volume 2… We see her do it at some points in volume 3, then in volume 4 short and she uses it with Nora in the beginning of volume 4… We see her first chronological use in Yang’s volume 5 short… I don’t think she uses it after that though, until now.
And Ruby talks about discovering her semblance with Oscar, Juane, Ren and Nora in Haven also, while training with Oscar/ Ospin...and her recovery in Yang's short shows how out of control Ruby was when it first kicked in. (;]D`
Roman was very much a *bad* bad guy, but he was motivated by self interest and callous disregard for the lives of others while Adam was actively malicious, and Roman actually cared for and supported Neo while Adam manipulated and used Blake. Oh, and Roman had P R E S E N T A T I O N, which Goatman seriously lacks.

There's another thing about villains with "P R E S E N T A T I O N" if you don't show your opponent adequate respect, you're gonna lose your presentation and end up flat on your face. And Roman had REAL presentation. So that implies, even if he views our heroes as obstacles and villains in his eyes, he showed them the respect of never under-estimating them TOO much. The first few times (Red trailer and the docks) he underestimated RWBY, but by the time he sees Ruby in Mountain Glenn, he responds with "That... would be a problem" He's started to respect them, maybe not as people, but at LEAST as adversaries. In the end his mistake wasn't under estimating team RWBY, it's that he thought the Grimm were on his side.
A big theme with RWBY’s villains is that they’re all very human and relatable. They may be terrible people, but they’ve gone through very human things that changed them. Roman was a very bad and dangerous criminal, but only acted in self preservation because he knew Cinder or worse would kill him. Hazel lost his sister and holds Ozpin accountable. Emerald was an orphan and street rat before Cinder found her. Adam is the latest example of this with society’s hatred of him turning into his own spite. There are other villains to come who take this idea further. Their pasts don’t justify their actions, but make us gain an understanding for them. Sympathy over empathy. At this point I pity Adam because he’s just an angry, hateful man who has nothing left of purpose in his life.

This premiere is probably in my top 3, and the big event songs (train fight and OP) are two of my absolute faves. Loved your reactions to both those songs, as they mirrored my own the first time I heard them.
I remember watching this in a theater when it came out. People screamed when Blake kissed Sun, and when Ilia ran forwards and hugged her. And when she helped Yang with her bag some dude yelled out "Gay!"
I still remember when this episode first dropped. I watched the Argus fight at work and I immediately knew I had to rush home to finish watching it. I was so hyped when I heard "Miracle" for the first time. Oh, Volume 6, how I've missed you.

I’m glad you recognized the emotional manipulation at around 10:05 A lot of reactors completely miss it. In fact I feel like you completely nailed his manipulation tactics. I love Adam but I’m not an Adam apologist. He was a horrible person and he got what he deserved, but I do wish we got more of him bc he was a really awesome villain. Terrifying, charismatic, badass fighting style, etc. Also Blake’s ears seem to get more expressive each volume. I’m sure it’s bc of increase in animation budget and skill but I like to head-canon that it’s just because Blake is getting used to not having to hide them anymore. And I’m going to do something dangerous and mentioning shipping for a second; I’d like to think that Blake had feelings for both Sun and Yang, but ultimately chooses Yang.

Sure he was semi forced by Cinder, but I feel like he could have opted to betray her if he felt like it. I do also feel bad for some characters like Lionheart, and Raven. They are acting based on fear from Salem, Raven claimed to know or believe Salem cant be killed, she says so to Yang. I think in a lot of situations, a lot of people would cave if it meant their lives were in danger. (Though I would think I’d at least consider betrayal but I dont know.)
If you want some more Sun content, you should look up the spin off books "After the Fall" and "Before the Dawn". They centre around team CFVY (Coco, Fox, Velvet and Yatsuhashi) who have moved to Vacuo after the fall of Beacon and are joined by Team SSSN in the second book.
I love that we got to see more of Sienna, even if it was just in flashback form. And honestly, this was also just a showcase of how much these guys had improved with the animation and fighting choreography. It helped that they only had one short this time instead of three which cut down on how much work they had to do this volume by a lot. More time to on the volume proper. This volume just also seems to be brighter in saturation. Which makes the show look better in general. I love just having all our girls back together, and while there’s still some tension between Blake and Yang still, Yang’s right. It’ll just take a bit. Even then though, the teamwork between all these kids is just… so satisfying. Seems Blake has made her train cable cutting skills known, and thus that will always be her job when the situation calls for it. Tis her calling, I’m afraid.
Something interesting In the adam short we see ilia looking as though she is having doubts even back then and the fact that in vol 5 she was so devoted and brainwashed to serve adam shows how manipulative he must've been towards ilia as well as blake, although people see adam as just blakes abusive ex this reminds me she wasn't his only victim she just had it the worst because she was also infatuated by him Also the scene on the rooftop with adam gaslighting blake in Broad daylight makes me so pissed off every time Blake protection squad unite
Might as well call it the Sienna short, because who wouldn't rather see more of her than Adam? Ruby first cycloned during the epic food fight in volume 2, and against Mercury in volume 3. It seems to have become a regular thing with the volume 4 short and first episode, not that we had much opportunity to see it, since. It's also how she successfully takes someone with her without dopping them, spilling into the street and almost getting run over. The idiot probably would've lost his arm if it hadn't been for his aura. It's nice to see Ruby leadering for the first time since the fall of Beacon. I wonder if Weiss was always supposed to skate across her glyphs, and they just couldn't animate it until now. Good to see a practical use of gravity glyphs, too.
Roman was bad because that was the choice he had to make to not get murdered by Salem and Co. He's a criminal and a thief, and that's what he did. He didn't go out of his way to maliciously and personally murder people.
Very small thing but that actually was Adam that Blake saw, if you remember Qrow hassled Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum about leaving the caboose door open...that was Adam sneaking on board.
Really...I thought it was a flashback and a call back to Blake's trailer...remember, that abusively manipulative gaslighting SOB stabbed Blake at Beacon, and has traumatized Blake for years.
Sun and Neptune are going to Vaccuo. RWBY Before the Dawn is the Second book following team CFVY in Vaccuo. The first book (RWBY After the Fall) is just team CFVY and in Before the Dawn we see Team SSSN, along several other Teams from Volume 3... and get a updated who died list. It also showed Salem's attempt of taking over Vaccuo that takes place off screen... and no one bows of Salem except the headmaster. Both After the Fall and Before the Dawn are great books you should be at the point where you can watch them with no spoilers.

The biggest problem with the Adam short is that CRWBY seems to have forgotten that Ghira left the White Fang when Blake was 12, yet they have Iliya and Adam being adults while Ghira is the leader. And CRWBY thought it'd be a good idea to sow strife in the group by saying the Grimm are attracted to the relic but Oz didn't tell them, but we never see a Grimm attracted to it, even when they trek through the Grimm-infested woods.
We can't say they are adults in the character short for certain, when blake was 12 adam was probably about 18 and ilia is probably older than blake but younger than adam, ilia looks like she could be a young teenager even now when she's probably like 20 so her model still looks quite young she's already pretty small, I mean they couldve made entire distinct new models for them just to show they were younger just for Adam's character short but honestly he's not worth the effort also as adam wears a mask so it's hard to tell anyway

I mean, that's high school senior and 6th grader territory. I liked a lot if the more… heavy worded songs, like Red like Roses part 2, Caffeine, etc. The slow songs though are still good IMO, and do their intended role well, and occasionally I do listen to them again. I wouldnt call any of their songs bad. Though I will say… I know V9 was different from the regular show, and maybe they wanted a whacky style of music to fit for the show, and honestly the music fits the scenes well, but V9 music isnt music I listen to on its own usually, though like you would say its a minority opinion to have, most people seemed to absolutely love V9 music, but it just didnt hit for me. I still wouldnt call it bad, but it is different to past RWBY music. I would have hoped had RWBY V 10 become a thing, the music would go back to its “RWBY” style so to speak. That is something else that worries me about RWBY being sold to Viz is that honestly… we will have a lack of music, or a drop in music quality, and quantity.

I love Adam but I’m not an Adam apologist. He was a horrible person and he got what he deserved, but I do wish we got more of him bc he was a really awesome villain. Terrifying, charismatic, badass fighting style, etc.
Also Blake’s ears seem to get more expressive each volume. I’m sure it’s bc of increase in animation budget and skill but I like to head-canon that it’s just because Blake is getting used to not having to hide them anymore.
And I’m going to do something dangerous and mentioning shipping for a second; I’d like to think that Blake had feelings for both Sun and Yang, but ultimately chooses Yang.

Those humans were trying to quite literally kill them, so the first kill there was in self defense.
I think a lot of people skip over this part because they do hate Adam already.
Starting out, he and Sienna were somewhat similar in beliefs, that action and violent revolution is what was needed, and to an extent I agree with that perspective.
Adam though does start to take things too far, killing Sienna, and tearing down the schools, it hurts not just humans, but faunus too, and even the whole world.
Sure he was semi forced by Cinder, but I feel like he could have opted to betray her if he felt like it.
I do also feel bad for some characters like Lionheart, and Raven.
They are acting based on fear from Salem, Raven claimed to know or believe Salem cant be killed, she says so to Yang.
I think in a lot of situations, a lot of people would cave if it meant their lives were in danger.
(Though I would think I’d at least consider betrayal but I dont know.)
If you want some more Sun content, you should look up the spin off books "After the Fall" and "Before the Dawn". They centre around team CFVY (Coco, Fox, Velvet and Yatsuhashi) who have moved to Vacuo after the fall of Beacon and are joined by Team SSSN in the second book.
I love that we got to see more of Sienna, even if it was just in flashback form. And honestly, this was also just a showcase of how much these guys had improved with the animation and fighting choreography. It helped that they only had one short this time instead of three which cut down on how much work they had to do this volume by a lot. More time to on the volume proper.
This volume just also seems to be brighter in saturation. Which makes the show look better in general.
I love just having all our girls back together, and while there’s still some tension between Blake and Yang still, Yang’s right. It’ll just take a bit. Even then though, the teamwork between all these kids is just… so satisfying.
Seems Blake has made her train cable cutting skills known, and thus that will always be her job when the situation calls for it. Tis her calling, I’m afraid.

Something interesting In the adam short we see ilia looking as though she is having doubts even back then and the fact that in vol 5 she was so devoted and brainwashed to serve adam shows how manipulative he must've been towards ilia as well as blake, although people see adam as just blakes abusive ex this reminds me she wasn't his only victim she just had it the worst because she was also infatuated by him
Also the scene on the rooftop with adam gaslighting blake in Broad daylight makes me so pissed off every time

Ruby first cycloned during the epic food fight in volume 2, and against Mercury in volume 3. It seems to have become a regular thing with the volume 4 short and first episode, not that we had much opportunity to see it, since. It's also how she successfully takes someone with her without dopping them, spilling into the street and almost getting run over. The idiot probably would've lost his arm if it hadn't been for his aura. It's nice to see Ruby leadering for the first time since the fall of Beacon. I wonder if Weiss was always supposed to skate across her glyphs, and they just couldn't animate it until now. Good to see a practical use of gravity glyphs, too.

Roman was bad because that was the choice he had to make to not get murdered by Salem and Co. He's a criminal and a thief, and that's what he did. He didn't go out of his way to maliciously and personally murder people.
Very small thing but that actually was Adam that Blake saw, if you remember Qrow hassled Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum about leaving the caboose door open...that was Adam sneaking on board.
Really...I thought it was a flashback and a call back to Blake's trailer...remember, that abusively manipulative gaslighting SOB stabbed Blake at Beacon, and has traumatized Blake for years.
You should get the Rwby books the first one is After the Fall and the second one is Before The Dawn You should read them after Vol 6

Sun and Neptune are going to Vaccuo. RWBY Before the Dawn is the Second book following team CFVY in Vaccuo. The first book (RWBY After the Fall) is just team CFVY and in Before the Dawn we see Team SSSN, along several other Teams from Volume 3... and get a updated who died list. It also showed Salem's attempt of taking over Vaccuo that takes place off screen... and no one bows of Salem except the headmaster.
Both After the Fall and Before the Dawn are great books you should be at the point where you can watch them with no spoilers.

The biggest problem with the Adam short is that CRWBY seems to have forgotten that Ghira left the White Fang when Blake was 12, yet they have Iliya and Adam being adults while Ghira is the leader.
And CRWBY thought it'd be a good idea to sow strife in the group by saying the Grimm are attracted to the relic but Oz didn't tell them, but we never see a Grimm attracted to it, even when they trek through the Grimm-infested woods.
We can't say they are adults in the character short for certain, when blake was 12 adam was probably about 18 and ilia is probably older than blake but younger than adam, ilia looks like she could be a young teenager even now when she's probably like 20 so her model still looks quite young she's already pretty small, I mean they couldve made entire distinct new models for them just to show they were younger just for Adam's character short but honestly he's not worth the effort also as adam wears a mask so it's hard to tell anyway
@@MigliLovania We saw Adam leading that one group before the Ghira scene, so you're probably right about his age which is pretty disturbing given the manipulative relationship he has with Blake. I mean, that's high school senior and 6th grader territory. And if Ilia is still in her mid-teens, that means Ghira is dragging along a kid on this expedition that he had to know was potentially dangerous.

I liked a lot if the more… heavy worded songs, like Red like Roses part 2, Caffeine, etc.
The slow songs though are still good IMO, and do their intended role well, and occasionally I do listen to them again.
I wouldnt call any of their songs bad.
Though I will say… I know V9 was different from the regular show, and maybe they wanted a whacky style of music to fit for the show, and honestly the music fits the scenes well, but V9 music isnt music I listen to on its own usually, though like you would say its a minority opinion to have, most people seemed to absolutely love V9 music, but it just didnt hit for me. I still wouldnt call it bad, but it is different to past RWBY music.
I would have hoped had RWBY V 10 become a thing, the music would go back to its “RWBY” style so to speak.
That is something else that worries me about RWBY being sold to Viz is that honestly… we will have a lack of music, or a drop in music quality, and quantity.
