Raven's conversation with Yang is intentionally theatrical....she's performing in front of the whole tribe and there's no way she's going to lose face or show weakness by caving in to Yang's demand in front of everyone. Yang & Weiss put on a credible show of force and thus Raven offers to parley in her tent....which the tribe members can understand. It's all performative social ritual. Raven is even strutting on a raised platform, very much like an actual theater stage, so the jokey aside "you doin' stand=up?" is actually a good observation.
yang and weiss are the only characters up to this point that had consistent interactions in every volume (other than v4 when they're separated). in v1 they have a serious conversation while looking for blake, in v2 they're organising the party together, and in v3 they are paired for the 2x2 fight in the tournament.
When WInter was quipping with Weiss in Season 3, she actually mentioned that Papa Schnee would have a job for her little sis as a receptionist if she gave up being a huntress! Lots of little in-house references like that.

Big thing about Raven, she was putting on airs for her bandit tribe. If she suddenly acts all emotional and lovey, then it would be the opposite of what she makes them do, be tough. Plus it's the only way so many people could be in the wild without the Grimm attacking
That's definitely part of it, but i feel it's more so Raven's pride speaking, and her way to mistake power for strength. She values survival of the fittest and fears getting involved into something that she sees futile to fight, since despite how powerful she is it is beyond her league in her eyes.

That's what I love about Mounty the most is that instead of getting outside talent to voice this show he just went to his family/friends and I'm so glad that he did because the voice acting for RWBY is top notch.
Considering that Volume 1 was made on a shoestring budget, it was more practical to ask family and friends for a favour than go through the official process of hiring voice actors they couldn’t afford.
It's something that draws me towards RWBY. Just how homegrown it is, and that it grew with each season (I know it's a HUGE production now but still). Pulling from japanese anime but with obvious influence from western cartoons. It just scratches an itch I didn't know I had.

When you think about it, Raven and Qrow are opposites in every sense. Raven is very distant from her family and yet her semblance allows her to reach them whenever she wants. Qrow wants to be with people and yet his semblance forces him to keep his distance
the reunion between Weiss and Yang was so unexpected in terms of the emotion, because we have seen how much those two have grown from the first time we seen them....Weiss now considers them her family, her team and it was touching af

Like maybe a section here and there to show Tai teaching that she now can project aura over the arm and then when it’s gone still have the arm as a second shield. And then he let’s her keep training and checks his phone to see his other huntsman friends haven’t found Ruby yet, to show he’s still looking for her.
Opening scene? Best scene, best track, probably of the entire volume. And she doesn't get the shakes until the threat is over, that's accurate. None of those bandits have aura, and Yang never fired directly at them; more evidence that she can tell who has it and who doesn't. Oscar would be an excellent way to point this out, but it's still only implied, and it's usually only Yang that implies it. Semblances can evolve? Something to remember for the future. I admit, I usually skip the conversation with Raven to see the reaction to the Weiss reveal, it's always a hoot... but yeah, as if her one-save-rule wasn't evidence enough, she really is a complete and total dick. But at least the hugs have gotten so much better.

On the subject of Voice Actors. Oscar's VA also voiced Alphonse from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. And Qrow's VA voiced Edward from FMAB. Also General Ironwood's VA was Roy Mustang from FMAB. Allstar cast for somewhat 'side' characters while the main cast is entirely in-house voice talent. Pretty dope. I met Team RWBY at Galaxy Con in Louisville, KY. Awesome people.

I wouldn’t go that far. As always the truth is more complicated. While Raven is right that Oz can’t be trusted, at least not fully and with such blind faith as Qrow does, part of the reason she is so insistent on painting him as the bad guy is to absolve her of responsibility for abandoning the cause. Regardless, here she completely misses the point, none of this matters to Yang, all she cares about is being with her loved ones no matter what trouble they’ve gotten themselves into, something that Raven obviously couldn’t understand seeing as she abandoned all her loved ones the moment things seemed too hard for her.

His top priority has been and still is his ambition to dominate the humans. His obsession with Blake only really grew as she continued to interfere with his ambitions, at that point she long stopped being “the ex who ran away from me” to “that bitch that wants to destroy everything I’ve worked for”. People really need to stop oversimplifying these characters, granted I sometimes did that with Oscar but he hadn’t really done anything interesting, at least compared to the rest of the main cast.

I will say now, Raven and Yang's relationship was butchered. She acts so different in Yang's trailer, season 1, and season 2. You can see her in her bird form following around Yang in specific scenes. And in the post credit scene of season 2, she shows up in front of Yang to talk to her. But they retcon that. They intentionally messed up their relationship and its really annoying. Raven is my favorite character and I can easily defend her for the poor way they wrote her.
First of all, it doesn't matter if she was watching Yang every now and again, she's still a terrible mother, Yang was never aware that Raven was "around", and calling her stalking her daughter being around isn't even accurate, it makes her worse, it wasn't even that she was neglectfully, and never cared where she was, she checked up on her, but never made contact with Yang even though she easily could have. Raven was always going to turn out this way, people complain so much about Season 5, but one thing people liked was Raven's character.

Yeah they fought in the 2v2. It's not a pairing we see too much but this season helps with that, with Yang reuniting with her and all.

FYI Jaune's semblance was actually hinted at in Grimm Eclipse, when he could boost someone with a battlecry (giving them a yellow glow). Similar to how he uses his own soul to boost those around him, physically and mentally. Jaune's the best.

I wouldn’t go that far. As always the truth is more complicated. While Raven is right that Oz can’t be trusted, at least not fully and with such blind faith as Qrow does, part of the reason she is so insistent on painting him as the bad guy is to absolve her of responsibility for abandoning the cause. Regardless, here she completely misses the point, none of this matters to Yang, all she cares about is being with her loved ones no matter what trouble they’ve gotten themselves into, something that Raven obviously couldn’t understand seeing as she abandoned all her loved ones the moment things seemed too hard for her.
@@BlueButterfly015 Fair enough, but upon further inspection, they’ve messed her up since Volume 3 decided to retcon the end scene of Volume 2. The writers were like “Oh, that never happened”. And Adam became an angry ex-boyfriend. I agree that she isn’t a good mother, but things aren’t always as they seem. Thanks for the comeback, I actually agree in all honesty. But my Adam statement still stands
@@saylanmorals4849 Actually, I completely disagree about Adam. In fact, his relationship with Blake has barely come up at all for him at this point. His top priority has been and still is his ambition to dominate the humans. His obsession with Blake only really grew as she continued to interfere with his ambitions, at that point she long stopped being “the ex who ran away from me” to “that bitch that wants to destroy everything I’ve worked for”. People really need to stop oversimplifying these characters, granted I sometimes did that with Oscar but he hadn’t really done anything interesting, at least compared to the rest of the main cast.
@@BlueButterfly015 Oscar’s carrying the show at this point in my opinion. He’s the only one who’s had any real “development” other than Weiss and she’s amazing, but everyone else is kinda just meh at this point

I will say now, Raven and Yang's relationship was butchered. She acts so different in Yang's trailer, season 1, and season 2. You can see her in her bird form following around Yang in specific scenes. And in the post credit scene of season 2, she shows up in front of Yang to talk to her. But they retcon that. They intentionally messed up their relationship and its really annoying. Raven is my favorite character and I can easily defend her for the poor way they wrote her.
First of all, it doesn't matter if she was watching Yang every now and again, she's still a terrible mother, Yang was never aware that Raven was "around", and calling her stalking her daughter being around isn't even accurate, it makes her worse, it wasn't even that she was neglectfully, and never cared where she was, she checked up on her, but never made contact with Yang even though she easily could have. Raven was always going to turn out this way, people complain so much about Season 5, but one thing people liked was Raven's character.

Raven doesn't hate Yang one bit. She actually does care about her. If she didn't, she would never have saved her from Neo.
