But would you really do this in front of non Maori speakers or semi fluent speakers and expect that they be alikened to learning tikanga. Show the fun stuff, the tikanga that showcases things other than kapahaka elements, tikanga is so much more than having a loud voice and weaponry, and lets be honest If you ask an average white New Zealander what our culture was about they will probably say Haka, singing, dancing and pōwhiri, moko maybe carvings. I'm not saying the paper doesn't teach other aspects of Māoridom but can we at least showcase tikanga other than the typical haka elements, thats just my opinion.
