Good ride mate. There was a lot of gold came out of star creek about 6 old mines not far from where you had lunch. Your on the right track with Morris trail👍and will pass the timber top siding. Think the old sign is still there but may be over grown. The tunnels are further on. Good luck👍
Cheers Neil 👍 Ended up trying once more- up Morris Trail- and ran into a hill I wasn't prepared to ride up. Close but so far... I was probably 2 or 3 kays shy of the tunnels. Catch ya mate
The line started at glenreagh and was standard NSW gauge. The last commercial train ran to dorrigo in the very early 70s but the last trains went from Newcastle to dorrigo in the mid 80s to make the rail museum.
Cheers Jason for the info 😎👍. I've been up to the Dorrigo rail museum- meet the owner last year. Was cool, Would love to have found the tunnel. Next time.
Well! I didn't know about the tunnels or the lookout, although I've been near them many times! Bill & I have chased many railway runnels up in this area, and they all ended up being on private property, with unfriendly locals to boot. Another lovely day on the bike mate, enjoyed as always :)
Hi David. Yeah, such a lucky did with access hey. I have new hope to find the tunnel (thanks to some local info) and will go back pretty soon. Redemption Ride coming up...lol Take care mate 😎👍
Thanks MCA, My daughter lives in Bonville, and I have never ridden around Coffs, these videos are great and gives me a few ideas on where to ride as I have a few months off work...and it does not look like it is -10 as it is cold in the snows at the moment.
Seems like you might have got pretty close to where the tunnels might be Maybe it would be possible to just walk the rest following the old railway lines and hopefully end up at one of the tunnels. A 5 K walk should be easily doable by a reasonable fit adult. Especially along a gently graded railway line. 😅
Great ride Phil, that was a nice place for lunch. Do you think the bridge got washed away from the recent floods. It's to bad you couldn't get to the tunnels, it's like everywhere is locked up these days. Great views from the lookout but. What's the drone you are using.
Cheers Bazz 😎👍 The bridge could have been washed away years ago- or in any one of the many floods we've had since. Seems a common occurrence here. As the the Drone, just a DJI Mavic Mini. Seems ok, pretty good footage, and cheap enough 👍
Hey Phil great ride 👍 If you headed to south when you poped out heading to the tunnel and head up the cross roads of Twelve Sixty Road and Timber top rd theres more train tracks up there and someone once told me of tunnels near there and just down the hill onto Morris Trail it follows the rail line a fair way up in the hills , been a long time since I was down that way but heaps of good trails up in that area with lots of nice creeks etc 😊 Cheers and happy trails
Cheers Anthony😎👍 I knew full well someone local would know a way to get there...lol I was close. And i'll try Morris Trail next time- cheers for that. Catch ya mate
@@MidCoastAdventures welcome mate Im not really a local there but have been up through a few trails chasing gold with some pans in the creeks for bit of fun and different adventure 👍😆😄
Cheer's Phil what a cool ride, been a few years since i have been out that end of town. I am under the impression the tunnels are used to grow mushrooms now, like a mushroom farm not 100% on that. :)
Cheers Gumby 😎👍 I'm going to try again and get there, if only to find out if it's possible. Mushrooms. Hmmm, will have to go back (via Morris Trail) and find out. Catch ya mate
Thanks for the fun .. just resting up with a vicarious ride ... cheers
Glad you enjoyed it Rocksolid 👍
What a pity, all that history lost. Thanks again Phil for showing us some bloody beautiful spots!
Glad you enjoyed it Michelle 👍
I seen you riding to coffs on Monday. Another great video 👍
Cheers Kane 😎👍 Where did you go past me?
@@MidCoastAdventures I think I was just north of the bello turn off. Seen it was you by your headlight I was heading south

You can get into the Tunnels from Kangaroo Creek Rd or come in from the top end past Timber Top Station from 1260 Rd.
Cheers Robert, I'll head up there again this winter I'd say. Keen to check them our 👍

Thanks Johnny👍 I'll find them next time, but had a great day either way 😎 . Catch ya mate
Good stuff, beaut little creek spot, good shots too. Shame about the tunnels, next time! 👍
Thanks Kurt 😎👍 Loving the new DSLR, only used it for the ride by shots, and some of the creek chill out spot. Top bit of gear. Catch ya mate 👍

Cheers Rob, there's plenty to see and do around Coffs 😎👍 Minus 10 is not something I'm prepaird to deal with! Under 15 degs and I'm cold...lol

Ill get there one day Sean - probably this winter. I probably just got to walk like you said. I was so close one ride...lol Cheers mate
How far did you need to go up stars creek road to get to the creek? Looks like a great spot.
Hi Jason. Not too far. Once you reach the end of the main dirt road, you head straight up the narrow trail about 300 meters to the creek 👍
@@MidCoastAdventures Cheers Phil!
