I lived through the era of fear, the prejudices, and the divisiveness that AIDS brought. Sir Elton reminds us of the great equalizer- we are all human, shed tears, and deserve to be accepted and loved.

I love this song! I remember when I first heard *"The Last Song"* by Sir Elton John. While I didn't know anyone personally who had AIDS, or who died from AIDS, I still cry whenever I listen. This song is just as relevant today as it was almost 30 yrs ago. When it was released, it was during the AIDS epidemic. Today, it could be about someone dying from Covid-19 and/or its variants.

Though the song is beautiful, it is the hardest song for me to hear. I lost three of my best friends, one of whom was my first lover because the right and righteous could not see a way to work towards a cure. They would rather withhold a solution because we were great sinners. However, Jesus never discriminated between the sinners and the saints. Jesus said, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

So sorry for your loss. This song always takes me back to the early years of the AIDS epidemic. So many people (it seemed like mostly young men) were forced out of the closet by AIDS. Many were rejected by their families & died without any loved ones by their sides. The father hugging the son in the video was especially poignant. In those early years, a lot of people were afraid to touch AIDS patients because they thought they could catch it that way. Heartbreaking.

Very powerful song. My Dad came out when I was very young, maybe 10 or so. I really never knew him any differently, I loved him unconditionally then as I do today. I always think of him when I hear this song though the meaning isn't quite the same. Now all these years later after this song was released, I'm a Dad to my own son. Being a Dad is the greatest experience of my life, without a doubt.

I never knew my real father and that has been difficult for me to bear my entire life, but this is a totally different kind of anguish, Just as devastating and even more so since it represents passing on to the next dimension. What a fabulous and heartfelt song 😢

Nice job to the song writer! And Elton did fantabulous performing it! Seee peeeps, we need more music like this nowadays,

This song frequently brings tears to my eyes. A story of the triumph of love over fear and misunderstanding. A heart-rending final reconciliation that washes away years of distrust and non-acceptance. Bernie Taupin is a master wordsmith, and who better than Elton John to sear those words into our hearts with this magnificent arrangement.

It’s a very sad but abeautiful song, the words between a father and son are so true but just recently,we’ll a few months ago my father died at 91,the truth came out about lies and deceit ,I spoke to him over the fone, and a few hours later he died ,I hadn’t seen him in five years, but sometimes the truth is to much to bear and I just couldn’t face up to what he did to me he’s in eternal sleep now
