- IGN got to sit down with Marc-Alexis Côté, the project lead of Assassin’s Creed Infinity at Ubisoft, to talk to us about the next phase in the long-running Assassin’s Creed franchise.
At its core, Assassins Creed Infinity will be a “hub” that will like both future Assassin’s Creed games (like Assassins Creed Codename Red) and previous ones (like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, as well as previous AC games) into one launcher.
However, AC Infinity will be more than a launcher. It will incorporate a multiplayer mode, full-price, single-player, open-world RPGs like Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, as well as smaller adventures. Think of Assassins Creed Infinity as a launcher-adjacent experience that will connect multiple Assassin’s Creed adventures together in one Animus-like interface.
Of course, AC Infinity will change over time, and the video takes a deeper dive into Ubisoft’s plans for Assasins Creed Infinity.

And we will need the ubisoft launcher to launch the Infinity launcher in order to launch an Assasins Creed Game and log into the Animus launcher in-game to launch the actual Assasins gameplay.

More than that. As the video mentions it's where modern day stuff will play out, and I'm guessing if you don't want to be interrupted in the gameplay you can choose whether you want to engage in them or not.

These post conference comments have clarified what AC infinity is which shows how poorly they communicated it in the actual showcase.

In classic Ubisoft form, Infinity is just a reskin of something players are already familiar with. It's the COD Warzone menu. All this hype and mystery for something that, when revealed, players will never think about again.

Well it's more of a thing for ac fans. In blackflag and unity there's an animus hex interface that shows a bunch of abstergo games launched by abstergo in lore. So they've prolly been planning since then. And iirc people wanted something like that. Specially when unity came out

Mirage is the one that's going to be " going back to the roots" and it will launch before infinity. Red is going to be nowhere near what classic AC games were.

I'm worried about the shorter games being priced cheaper. Unity was not shorter because they just spent less time on it but also because each piece of content had more time put into it, so the same amount of time resulted in less but better content.
So it's a bit like the battlefield menu from a few years ago, when you could swap between the games straight from one another? Be cool if we could get that on console

The disc version will still connect you to infinity. So, you will still have access to the modern day stuff.

Even though I’ve never been the biggest fan of the modern day story it’s the whole point of assassins creed, people experiencing the memories of their ancestors. If you take that away then how is it different from playing something like Ghost of Tsushima, which isn’t a bad game but it’s not assassins creed.
It's a launcher for AC games, think of like how Steam is a launcher for games or epic games store. There you go, saved you 6 minutes.
