Absolutely wonderful video. I really did not know anything about this knife. I agree; can see merits for students as far as using in school or music trips where one needs something to take off cane. I am an old creature of habit, and will stick with Chairugi!!!
I bought their "bullet" specialized for synthetic reeds back when I was doing oboe solos in marching band. I too find them much more tedious to use than a knife, however they are a godsend for increasing the longevity of single reeds. That said, aside from their special shape and grooves, they are all identical to cheap lathe toolsteel you can get for $5-$20 from any hardware store. So if anyone wants one and just needs a straight edge, just go for a bit of toolsteel.
I gotta say I really don’t enjoy using this. I just can’t get it do what I need it do. Also, I am surprised that this is appealing for someone with arthritis to use. Even w a handle designed for oboe use, I find it quite cramped to scrape with. I think a traditional reed knife is much more comfortable to use.

That's VERY interesting! Thanks, Devon!

Likewise - but to each their own, and it's nice to have options for people who need them!
