      I agree, the front end of the last gen Accord 2018-2022 was top tier. Timeless and elegant. I dislike the new front end on the civic and accord. Doesn’t flow with the rest of the car well imo.

  • @DarthNero
    @DarthNero 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +53

    One big reason why i stopped considering Honda is when i realised the lack interior colour options in their vehicles. They make everything come with nothing but fully black interiors except on some Touring trims in which lighter interior option is available, forcing you to buy the most expensive trim if you don’t want an all black interior. Very disappointing!

    • @kelsobluesky
      @kelsobluesky 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      Yes, and on the Civic the exterior colors don't always work with the light interior- which is only on the top trim are you said. You can't get a light gray exterior with a light gray interior!? It's very limiting.

    • @chrissetina1107
      @chrissetina1107 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      For the Accord and CRV, their gray options are even extremely limited and not appealing. In the CRV with gray interior, only the seat face is gray but NOTHING else - everything else is black. And black interiors are all monotone - no variation in the black tones. The Accord is better, but only a bit. And very few exterior color options pair with a gray interior. This is a misjudgement IMO and stinks of cost cutting. Honda should also bring back a parchment or tan interior color option.

    I can’t stand the fact that it has fixed rear headrests and only one map pocket behind the passenger front seat! It drives me crazy!! These are features that my 7th gen has plus hood struts plus a very nice camel interior color. I just finished watching a review of the Australian Accord and it has the adjustable back headrests and two map pockets instead of one plus adjustable interior ambient lighting plus sun blinds for the rear seats and a panoramic sunroof. However, I much prefer the dashboard layout of the American Accord than the Australian, as the latter’s instrument cluster is just a free standing screen (which to me looks incredibly silly) whereas the American model has a proper housing for the instrument cluster.

      I'd love a wagon too. But I believe part of the problem with current Accord platform (last gen and this one) are that they kept the same roofline height as the Civic - they just made it slightly longer and wider. For a family sedan, it should be easier to enter/exit and sit upright. Even kids get tall.

No mainstream company makes a truly practical sedan anymore. Sales of low-slung, coupe-sedans keep plummeting as a result of their misguided focus on 'swoopiness'. It is only the six figure, luxury brands that retain the traditional, rational, boxy sedan profile but most of us don't have six figures to spend. No wonder practical people are buying CUVs. The main reason I got it was for the exterior styling interior styling all-wheel drive and they pretty much redid the motor and transmission numerous times from my 2010 model! Just an all around upgrade! I didn't realize how much I actually wanted all-wheel drive and how much a deal-breaker not having it actually is! It's a little down on horsepower compared to the Camry but still a very torquey motor and gets the job done with very little effort! In my opinion Asian vehicles are the best! @@mikeb3216 No it's no problem so the issue is the used dealer market and the used consumer market are two different things! I traded in my 2010 Altima with 280,000 mi to the used dealer market and they only gave me $500! I think that's a combination of things a it's harder for them to move a newer Nissan so getting an older Nissan is a little scary for them I assume! Had I traded it in on the used consumer market I probably could have gotten $3,000 for it! But my predicament was I'm not trying to wait a couple months to sell my car for somebody to come to my house and finally buy it I needed to get rid of it right then and there because I just wanted a new car I haven't had a car payment for 10 years and I realized I pretty much drove all of my value out of the car already I should have traded it in years ago! But the problems with it is it needs work probably about the same work your car needed the engine is perfectly fine the transmission is perfectly fine it's just all the other stuff, suspension, brakes, New tint on the back windshield because somebody decided that they were going to take the tent off for me and didn't tell me that they weren't qualified and before they tried so my back windshield looks like ass! But the main issue is my AC went out again I literally spent $1,600 2 years ago on the AC at Belle tire I don't think they knew what they were doing because now my AC went out again in the peak of summer and that's when I decided I'm done with this car! What really did it was I realized all the work I'm putting into the car is literally a down payment for a new car and then some! So for my new 2021 Altima the second I'm done paying it off I'll probably just get a brand new one whatever year that would be and then keep that one for a while! Some people might say I got fucked but at the end of the day I didn't have AC and it's 85° outside everyday so to me buying the new car was better for me plus it'll be a nice little credit boost! But now I see my problem is the mileage I will always have a trade-in with high miles because I drive way too much! So I don't really think I'll ever be able to get a trade-in with the maximum value it seems like you did pretty good though!

    I've commented before regarding my Touring 2.0T. My vehicle came with all the interior goodies Kirk mentioned (rear vents and USB were already installed via dealer accessories). The thing that I definitely want and I don't understand why it isn't on my car is AWD and a heated steering wheel. Those should be standard and not being standard makes no sense in this age of automobiles. Regarding the "New 2025," Honda still isn't listening. That new body of the Accord is too boring to be considered. Honda NEEDS to completely redesign this car. I don't understand how the Civic kept its looks and DNA and Honda converted the Accord into a four-wheeled Lego block. The Accord is a boring, vanilla, uninspired vehicle. Every time I roll up to a new Accord and look at the new DRLs that were changed from the sexy wrap-around swoop to that straight-line look I am reminded of how bad it must be to drive that bland overpriced hunk of junk. Honda, enough, either kill the Accord or give it a new life because you ruined your own sweet-spot product and you're losing ground rapidly to Toyota and Mazda.

My heavens - the base Elantra complain for years has been people saying "no rear vents or plug ins" (it does have under seat ones for folks back there - it just not redirected to vents). In any case Hyundai pointed out the interior measurements and particularly "up front" the darn Elantra is very ... very close and substantially less than the Sonata hybrid would be - deluxe trim, $1000s less, still not a bad bad seat area - but how important for most folks.

    I won’t even get into the styling and quality…. (Sat in ONE of these and haven’t looked back, speaking as an owner of a 2018 Sport with two previous bought-new Hondas dating back to my first new car in 2006, I’ll sum it up by saying I’ve been disappointed in the build quality of every current generation Honda I’ve sat in).
    Honda’s recent decisions on the trim walk and color options are just plain awful. We’ve now reached a point where everything is just a “Sport” model with a different package. And of course the price on the “Sport” models is jacked up because it’s a “Sport”. “We got rid of the LX and replaced it with a Sport LX for $1500 more. It just adds big wheels and a tighter suspension to ruin your fuel economy and ride quality so you can pay more to feel sporty.”
    (Sorry, I know that rant really isn’t relevant to this video because that’s not actually what they did with the SE model, but it’s not far off the mark and I just needed to get it off my chest).
    When I bought my 2006 Civic there were three trims; DX, LX, and EX. The DX had manual everything; No power door locks, windows, etc. The LX added the power features, and the EX added a split folding rear seat, alloy wheels, and a sunroof. A few years after I got it they added the EX-L because people wanted a Civic with leather seats; It was just an EX with leather seats. I get that the DX wouldn’t fly in today’s market, and the market does demand the availability of more premium options such as HUD, but as time goes on Honda just keeps removing the less expensive trims and adding higher priced trims to the top of the trim walk, with no consideration given to lower priced options. (And then, yeah, they “Sport”-ify everything to squeeze a bit more money out by stroking peoples’ exotic sports car fantasies with a “Sport” trim, so we end up with an LX, Sport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring at the end of the day).
    I really wish Someone would take the time to rebalance the trim walk and actually make it practical for the average owner. Make some trims without low profile tires. Give us some interior color options other than Black. Make the base trim basic again, and less expensive. And most of all, fix the build quality issues and hire back whoever designed the 10th gen cars to design whatever comes next because that generation was amazing, and this generation just looks like early 2000s Ford.
