This is a great video showing the real world electric only capability of the Seal U dm-i. I'm looking forward to your hybrid driving range video as that's how I would most likely use it. I'm booking a test drive of the design trim.
PHEVs have been around and usually are horrible. Once the battery is finished they suffer from high fuel consumption. This is the first PHEV that doesn't suffer from that. You can charge this daily at home and use the battery to commute. And when you do your long trips you still have a decent fuel consumption and a more than decent range. Bravo BYD bravo. DMi tech should win engine of the year because this is a game changer.
My Audi A3 Etron does 50mpg (21.2/Km/L) when the battery is depleted. It is 6.5 years old and has done 73000 miles (117,500 Km) and over the past 4 years , I have pretty much charged the battery every day. I still get 15-20 miles electric-only range, enough for my pootling about! There's a lot of misinformation about Phev's, I think they're a good choice for some people.
Our 2020 Kia Niro PHEV does 30+ miles in EV mode and regularly gets 60+ mpg once the battery has depleted. The variable regen is excellent. However, PHEV’s have now moved on a generation. The new BYD Seal U looks extremely interesting, preferably the Comfort model with 70+ EV range.
I don't know whether to go phev I currently have a old 1.9dci Renault 7 seater and even when I'm loaded up with 4+ people and weighing over 2 tons I still get 68mpg on a run also going over a mountain range. I'm guessing this BYD only gets mid 40's per gallon, if I'm getting 3.8ltrs/100km is it worth changing I think not 🤷
@nothingsurprisesmeanymore 68mpg sounds "optimistic", but if you say so and are happy with it, don't change. However, bear in mind that if your daily total is less than 80 miles, the BYD PHEV will NEVER need diesel. That will make 68mpg look expensive. Your call and good luck.👍🏻
FWD model of sealion 6 has a non turbo 1.5 engine while AWD uses a 1.5 turbo. I am also very curious to know what is the fuel consumption in hybrid mode (once battery is depleted to 25% or below and engine is used to run the car and charge the battery).
What's the deal with the German / English? Half of it is in German. It's a good informative video (whenever I can understand), but you need to decide if your target audience are German speakers or English speakers

@@simplyelectric ok thanks, maybe a typo on your translation in English about turbo
So weird AI generated translation with AI voice answering rhetoric questions that not meant to be answered😅

Weird review.....switching between English and German is just odd 😞
