After watching hundreds of movies, but these two movies still make my top 10.

    UPDATE:
Very recently after the upload of this video, information has surfaced about Shane Carruth and his abusive relationship with his ex, Amy Seimetz. A very saddening and disgusting situation. As of writing this, this informatiom has spread into mainstream news and I have no clue what will happen next. So if anything I say is outdated, then i apologize.
I will not be taking down this video. For most artists, I can separate art from the artist. And while these reports are saddening, I can still respect and appreciate the work Carruth has created over the years. If you don't feel comfortable even remotely supporting him by watching this video, then don't watch it. There are a number of other directors like Polandki and Woody Allen who have also committed disgusting acts, but have still made fantastic pieces of art. This video is not about Carruth as a person or anything like that. Rather it's about Carruth as an artist and his collection of work. It would've made me uncomfortable not addressing the situation at hand, especially when this was uploaded so recently to the information being revealed, but I at least wanted to address it for anyone who's wondering.

Shane's abusive nature has been known for years, well before the making of this video.

Thanks for the comment! There's something so human and connective about Carruth's work, and I seriously hope he can make one last film as well. Utterly inspiring.

Hope you feel differently now considering he's been outed as a domestic abuser and has a restraining order agaimst him by Amy Seimetz.

Yeah that's a very strange situation and disappointing as a fan. I am able to separate art from the artist, and I still believe everything I said in the original video, (none of which is about carruth as a person himself and only as an artist), but nonetheless it was disappointing to find out.
Granted we don't know exactly what occurred or what happened that incited the two restraining order requests, but the fact that it even occurred is saddening. That's all I have to say about it.

@@ElijahCinema hey, just wanted to add that I kind of came off pretty standoff-ish and dismissive. That wasn't my intent. Your vid is still ace and I agree with your take on art and artist needing to be taken differently.
I guess I reacted pretty swiftly at some disturbing news about a filmmaker I also admired and championed. Felt like a stab in the back, even though I don't know the person behind the director or his work.
As a person who was subjected to violence myself, I lashed out at the wrong outlet. I apologize for that and hope it didn't cause any discomfort your way. Man, this year just keeps sucking.

It's alright. I felt the need to explain my response and my reasoning for keeping the video up anyways. Obviously this is a strange situation, especially since it wouldn't have even been known except the fact that Carruth subtlety revealed it. I still don't know how to fully process everything that's going on.
But I do also know how you feel. Carruth seemed like such a genuine guy and a big inspiration for not only me, but so many out there. And his accomplishments should not be neglected, but it seems more and more clear that we as fans truly don't know him as a person. And that can feel so painful to realize. I hope that Amy finds piece and her order will be taken seriously, but I also hope Carruth finds the help he needs and grows as a person from this.
I am glad you enjoyed my video, and hopefully my future endeavors will continue to interest you and many others. This is such a strange and shitty situation. I do hope Carruth addresses it maturely and gets the help he needs, but at the same time I struggle to find remorse for abusers. Overall, it's just a very disappointing and saddening situation.
