I've been through your video several times trying to fully understand all the aspects of this application/configuration. Am using a Pi 4b 2G with a Mini+ and a Mk4. Have had both successfully individually set up for PrusaLink directly to my Win 10 laptop for a while. Have also had the 4b configured for Octopi multi printer/multi camera. Now trying the PrusaLink Multi off github as in your video. In your example here you are using older printers that I believe do not do PrusaLink natively (not supported in the FW). I've disabled both PrusaLink and Prusa Connect on both my printers and made both default to Wifi without doing the configuration. The intent being to use only the USB on both printers to emulate your example. I can successfully run the Rpi-imager using the github prusaLink multi image to a high speed micro SD card just like yours albeit 32GB. That runs successfully, go through the 4b initialization and multi reboots. SSH via putty works great. Have updated the Prusa FW to 6.0.0 on both Mini+ and Mk4. Power up both printers, connect their USB cables to the 4b and nothing happens. No reboot of the printers, no messages on wait while they do their internal setup with the PrusaLink Multi, no IP with the /1, and no printers showing up on the PrusaLink Browser instance. All the Prusa documentation I've seen indicates that the Mini+ and Mk4 are only using the internal FW for PrusaLink. So am I trying to climb the wrong tree here or am I just missing something important that isn't covered by your excellent as always video. Thanks in advance, Barry
That is one down fall to this. Currently if the printer has PRusalink (MK4 mini, XL) You can us the secondary computer version, it would register. I hope they add something like this where we can consolidate the newer machines with the older ones.
@ChrisRiley Just got a pi 5 8 GB, doesn't directly support octoprint ( can't select it in the imager) used the octoprint_deploy to install. All works except serial comm interrupts frequently when the octopi and Mk4 can't continue due to a loss of process on the octopi end.
You helped me set up octoprint on my mk2 back in the day, now you're back at it on my pi4 with Prusalink. Thanks again, Chris.
Happy to help! Thanks for watching
Wow great timing on this as I was just reading the prusa blog post about this this morning and thought I’ll have to look into this.
Great, let us know how it goes!
Thank you, was having too many memory issues with prusa connect. Sometimes it seems as if the servers were overloaded as many times I just couldn't connect at all. Going to use Prusa Link going forward for all my prusa printers and only use Connect to monitor the printers when I'm not on the local network. Nice Job!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Thank you!, Super super helpful. Going to set it up now.
Would you have some insider information if they are planning on using Prusa Link and pi for input shaper and bed mash display (similar to OctoPrint)?
Seems like a really good way to rapid test features and deploy advanced functionality for older model printers. Especially using accelerometer over USB directly into the Pi.
MK3s is for sure one of the more reliable printers.
Chris thank you for everything you do.
Thank you for watching! I don't know what they are planning on doing really. I would think most of the features we see in Octoprint would be possible. The one I am really looking forward to is local USB cam. It would be really cool if we could just plug the cam into the printer.
@@ChrisRiley Completely agree. Just setup one of my devices with this walkthrough. SUPER EASY.... thank you again.
Thanks for the video knowledge. What about running Prusa link from a PC. Why a pi zero instead of from your pc desktop? How is the Prusa Link now compared to the initial release of the MK4 and XL, there were issues back then.
Prusa link runs much better now, than it did at the beginning. I'm not 100% sure how Prusa built the image. Octoprint is just a Python program, so you can run it anywhere. I would have to break down Prusalink to figure out how we can run it on other systems. I will add it to the list of things to look into.
underrated channel
Thanks for watching!
Chris, could you do a video on a camera hook up on the XL? Would love to have one so I could see my screwups!
Hey Dave, I've been looking for options. If you don't use your phone, it's pretty involved. I will see what I can find.
@@ChrisRiley I guess that I can find an old phone and use that. I actually have 5 heads on the XL (for now). Thanks for your help
Great video. Can I use my current raspberry pi zero 2 W to control more than 1 printer? It is currently installed through the header on my board.
I think not, since he said you have to disable the RPi Port. But try disabling the port and see if the Pi still gets power, since if it does, you could theoretically just flash this image and plug in your printers, provided that you have a USB OTG adapter and/or hub.
Does power panic still work?
I think if the PrusaLink just uploads to the SD card and prints from that, then Power Panic should work. But if PrusaLink acts more like OctoPrint, power panic probably won't work, but I do think that Chris made a video about power panic on OctoPrint.@@PerMejdal
@georgewhite5310 You can use the Zero 2, but you would have to use the USB OTG port over to some sort of hub. You can't use both USB and GPIO pins.
As @djispro4272 was saying. Prusalink copies to the USB local to the printer, so power panic will still work.
Wish I could afford a Prusa in the first place!
There's options for other printers, stay tuned!
trying to connect my MK2.5s on prusalink I believe I've done all the imaging right. but it wont show the ip on the screen like in the video.
Does you MK2.5 have a prusa mini rambo? Have you replaced it? It might be a serial number problem. You can fix it, but it takes some special commands to correct it.
Do you know if anyone is working on adapting the yellow display for something like marlin, and others to replace the generic graphical display?
I haven't heard of anything, but I will keep an eye out and report back if I find something.
@@ChrisRiley Thanks - I searched and nothing came up. Could be a really cool mod for a lot of printers out there.
do you have any idea why I can't find the camera connected to the raspberry in the web interface? I have both the webcam and the pi camera, but neither can see it
I'm not exactly sure what streamer they use. If you installed yours with SSH enabled, you can check the syslog to see what's up. Run pas -aux |grep 8080
