Hi, Cliff! You mentioned Trees, and I have a theory about Trees that I don't think anyone else has really put to words in the clique.
I believe the song is an expression of Genesis 3 with Tyler being Adam and God being himself.
So this little interaction happens right after Adam and Eve eat of the forbidden fruit...
    Gn3:8-10 reads,
"The man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking through the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the *trees* of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, 'Where are you?'
He answered, 'I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.'"
    Trees reads,
    I know where you stand
    Silent, in the trees
    And that's where I am
    Silent, in the trees
    Why won't you speak?
    Where I happen to be
    Silent, in the trees
    Standing cowardly
    I can feel your breath
    I can feel my death
    I want to know you
    I want to see
    I want to say
    Hello |-/
I believe the song captures the emotion of the moment between us and God when we're caught red handed, hiding naked in the trees. The verses are the conversation between us and God, with God saying, "I know where you stand, silent, in the trees." We hide, knowing in our mind, "That's where I am, silent, in the trees." God asks, "Why won't you speak?" We think, "It's where I happen to be, silent, in the trees, standing cowardly."
We can feel God's breath, he's in earshot. And since we are aware of our sin, we can feel our death, for that's the punishment God promised, "Eat of the fruit I have commanded you not to and you will surely die."
I want to know Him, I want to see Him, I want to say, "Hello."
    Pretty crazy, right?

    • @adeptmage2293
      @adeptmage2293 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

Totally crazy! I don't think any one else would have ever thought of this. This comparison definitely solidifies the theological background of the song. Great work figuring this out |-/

The line in guns for hands “I know what you think in the morning...” is incredibly deep if you have experienced those thoughts. As Tyler has showed previously, those thoughts often occur at night. And waking up the next morning knowing what you wanted to or did do the night prior, there is an incredible regret and guilt that is a lot of times un escapable. And I will always sympathize with those words because it’s incredibly real and for and artist to understand, it’s incredibly comforting.

Rize it's extremely chilling. It's deep to think about what Tyler was going through when he wrote it as a teenager. You can almost feel it in his scream. It's also deep because many Christians have been through a similar moment when they're crying out to God.

Glad to hear someone mention Taxi-Cab! That is the best song ever. There are too many #10's for me, but "Ruby" is amazing. We "normal, healthy" people are the diseased, and those fellow humans born with something like Down's Syndrome are the ones who hold the key and the direct line of communication to God. We have to deal with our doubts and regrets and thoughts. They have the more pure faith and hearts and can be the ones to tell our Dad we are sorry for our weaknesses--maybe it's easier for them to communicate with Him?

Pretty sure from all that I've read and how the song feels. This song helped me to overcome the fears and misgivings about getting pregnant in my later years when doctors will tell you you have more Down's Syndrome risk, and if they suspect it, you can just get an abortion. I got pregnant and accepted that I will love this special baby however it comes. I had a healthy baby boy at age 42.

Blasphemy is really deep as well. It shares some similar themes with Implicit Demand for Proof such as the concept of wanting to understand God and wanting to see God. It also deals with the concept of doubting God but then quickly correcting himself and saying that God is present. Blasphemy also shares some themes with Migraine such as feeling like his body is waging war on him. Later in Blasphemy, Tyler tells God sorry for doubting Him. In the end of the song Tyler asks God to wash away his doubts and hopes for a new day to start fresh.

I can't pick what the deepest Twenty One Pilots song is, but I'd have to say that Friend, Please or Trapdoor would have to be among those lines.
Friend, Please centers around talking someone out of suicide and telling them that their life is meaningful and that they are worth everything, the opening lyrics beginning with "I feel for you, but when did you believe you were alone?" And I believe that's saying that he doesn't necessarily know where the problem began, but those who struggle with stuff like depression and suicidal thoughts never really do, but he would always be there for them.
Trapdoor also talks about suicide, but from a different perspective, talking about how someone who is suffering is hiding that behind this facade of happiness and such, and no one has cared enough to really notice until their own mind crumbles and they take their own life. It's such a sensitive topic, but one that I feel really must be brushed up on.

I really like their songs. Because of Tyler's and Josh's songs, they have impacted many people in the world. They have helped people who had any thoughts and who had trouble on their life. Tyler himself has gone through something and he wants to help us. Their motto is stay alive, Tyler cares for is, and he is always there for us weather we know him or not. He is an insparation to me and many other people ofthe clique.
Thank you for this video. I agreed on a lot of what you said. My deepest Twenty One Pilots songis Addict with a Pen in my opinion because he take about his stuhgles in a metephorical way and he wants to see some hope from God.

  • @literallyawickerchair3081
    @literallyawickerchair3081 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Two of the most deep Tøp songs are Forest and lovely
Forest is like when a depressed person goes dead into their thoughts like an Existential Crisis “does it bother anyone else that someone else has your name” does it bother you that a lot of people have the same traits like Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, etc but it all happens in a different form but could have some things similar . Like how my name is Morgan there are other Morgans in this world but not all of them look the same. One in my school has blonde hair and I have brown but we are both short. And that is what he is what bothers him. That some people have to go through the same stuff but in a different forms
    Lovely
Lovely tells me that every one is lovely no matter what happens “luckily I can read your mind cobwebs and flys unwind” sometimes people understand when you put it in a different form. When you say it, it can come out foggy and unclear but when you write it and they can re-read it they can understand more. People care about youy and if you thing people don’t think so you are wrong.“I will make you believe you are lovely” it tells me that someone omg this unforgiving universe cares and if you don’t think so you can listen to Twenty One Pilots songs or talk to someone who you trust.
The clique is one of the strongest and most real fandom I have ever been a part of. I love you all so much and if this helped you I am so happy it did. I have and still am struggling but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Remember Stay alive and I hope you have a wonderful today tomorrow and every day after. ||-//

"I've been thinking too much (Ride)", "okay, friend? (Kitchen Sink)", and "we've made it this far, kid (Migraine)" are some of my favorite lines, they always stick out a lot to me. Also, I was thinking Car Radio is probably the deepest before you said it. I saw some people mentioned Friend, Please and while that song has a very strong message, it's pretty straightforward and kind of an obvious thing people know they should do, so I wouldn't really say it's deep. It always hits me hard though, particularly when I wished I had a friend like that and when my sister needed a friend like that, those were hard times and that song helped a lot.

Isle of Flightless Birds is deep as heck. I haven't listened to in a while, but the ending lyrics essentially say, "Act on what you think is right, as you know what's right and wrong. I have chosen to help suffering teenagers and to not doubt God, and I will prove his existence."
At least that's how I interpret it.

I think "taken by sleep" is extremely deep. (also I am aware that it is from Tyler's solo album, but since he wrote it, I'm counting it in this)
In the line "And I know it might be a little selfish for me to say, but I need to know if you thought of me at all today," really gets to me. It reminds us that we are not perfect and that even when we are thinking about others, we are really thinking about ourselves, too.
"Spending hours on end, deciding what I'd say to a friend if I ever saw 'em again
Cause I don't know if I know, don't want to come across the wrong way
And I don't know if I know, but I know I want to see your face today,"
is probably one of my favorite lines ever. That feeling of wondering if you have made the right decision or not by parting ways with a friend can be really hard to deal with. "coming across the wrong way" could be referring to the worry that trying to see this friend that you have shut out for so long would go over with that friend. Would it come off as a true act of friendship or would it come off as acting desperate and selfish. In the second and third lines of the exert there is a lot of switching between saying "I know" and "I don't know," ending the exert with, "I want to see your face today." I think this is referring to the conflicting feeling surrounding whether you would want to see a friend that you've parted ways with. That doubt of, "will they except my apology?" or "will we be able to go back to the way we were?" or just the fear of facing something that has been keeping you up at night.
Lol this is way too long, but that song speaks to me on a deep level.

personally my favorite song is for how deep it is slowtown cuz I have adhd and the thought of falling asleep and waking up in a slower frame of mind is both scary and magical that I would never imagine happening also be concerned is another deep one for me cuz I have a m8 that reminds me of the song but I feel that way cuz in the first verse tyler says "im sorry mr glboblob but lyings all ive learned so be concerned" I can relate to that too as well and truce helped me save a dear friend of mine when she was feeling like she was going to kill herself or at least wanted to escape the pain that she had, a car, a torch, a death is another good and deep one that's helped me cope quite a few times and isle of flightless birds is another good one

Really I think it's pretty obvious what the deepest song is. Even just one line has impacted me so much. "snowboarding in Hawaii" brings me to tears everytime. And "my breath fogged us the glass, so I drew a face and I laughed" is some if the most introspective writing I think Tyler has ever released.

I think number 10 should be addict with a pen or Truce. Both are very slow and laid back songs and they have this sad tone to it but if you actually listen to the lyrics closely you can hear some really sad lines like in the chorus for Truce is stay alive. For me Truce seems kind of like *the* song to represent Twenty One Pilots along with Trees.

I think anathema is the deepest and most meaningful song to me and here is why
    In the song, Tyler says
You will never know what's behind my skull
So won't you say good night, so I can say goodbye
You will never know what's under my hair
So won't you say good night, so I can say goodbye
You will never know what's under my skin
So won't you say good night, so I can say goodbye
You will never know what is in my veins
So won't you say good night, so I can say goodbye
    I'm going to decipher this
you will never know whats behind my skull = you will never know my racing thoughts and what they are about
you will never know whats under my hair = you will never truely know my mind
you will never know whats under my skin = you will never know what I truely look like when my thoughts turn into something real
you will never know what is in my veins = you will never know my true self when my thoughts take over
so wont you say goodnight, so i can say goodbye = i think what this means is he wants his thoughts to sleep. When his thoughts sleep, he sleep. Forever
Won't you go to someone else's dreams?
Won't you go to someone else's head?
Haven't you taken enough from me?
Won't you torture someone else's sleep?
To me, this means that his thoughts are constantly racing during the night in his dreams, in his head. His thoughts are taking his sleep away from him and essentially torturing him. (Insomnia)
And you will never know what I'm thinking of
So won't you say good night, so I can say goodbye
And you will never understand what I believe
So won't you say goodnight, so I can say goodbye
in this verse, i think that he is saying, no matter what I tell you, you will never truely know how my mind works and what I believe (voices in your head)
I start to part two halves of my heart in the dark and I
Don't know where I should go and the tears and the fears begin to multiply
Taking time in a simple place in my bed where my head rests on a pillowcase
And it's said that a war's led but I forget that I let another day go by
I want to be afraid but it seems that these days
I'm caught under water and I'm falling farther
My heart's getting harder, I'm calling my father
Am I screaming to an empty sky?
Empty sky, no way, that's me 'cause one half of my heart is free
Empty sky, no way, that's me, 'cause the other half of my heart's asleep
I honestly havent quite deciphered what this means yet but i think he is trying to talk to God and he is trying to get him to save him from himself (am I screming to an empty sky, im calling my father, empty sky no way thats me cause on half of my heart is free/cause the other half of my hearts asleep)
Congratulations, you have made it through this veryy long comment. Thanks for reading my terrible opinion that no one agrees with :)

Hi Cliff! I have a theory on "Implicit Demand For Proof", and it`s surprising that no one in the clique has talked about it.
The song references to Exodus 33 18-23: "Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” And the LORD said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.” Then the LORD said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”
    And the song says:
    "I know You're not a liar
And I know You could set fire
    This day
Go ahead and make me look away
    Strike me down
    I am calling Your lightening
Down from Your dark hiding place
    Go ahead and show me
    Your face".
As for me, this song is a great example why Twenty One Pilots is the favorite band of mine and for many people: this song captures that desperate feeling then you need a proof that the main thing you hold on to in life is not a bunch of lies. Desperate feeling that you need God so hard right now.
    Crazy, isn`t it?

I truly like Kitchen Sink, when Tyler says: "Because a kitchen sink to you is not a kitchen sink to me, ok fren?". For me this is so deep, because it's exactly what I defend. We only know what is happening inside us, our own sink. We cannot fully understand the other's feelings, we are different people. That's why you can't judge anyone. But we can help each other.
