    Hi Mate,
    Thanks for the video. I popped in to Halfords and got one for my dashcam and it seems to work fine on my VW ID.3

      Great news. I just finished using one to install in my Polestar 2. I ended up removing the ODB port and switching ot 180. Another video to come. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      Have you seen this video where I provide abit more information on removing the OBD port on my Polestar 2, I assume this is what you mean?

    Hi mate - I looked at the OBD port accessory before I purchased the Multi-safer V2, as far as I was aware the OBD port accessory didn't monitor battery voltage hence perhaps why your camera continued working for 10 hours+? I set my multi-safer to 12.4v I think and in the summer it runs for up to 6 hours before cutting off, much less in the winter of course due to the temperature affect on the battery. There are also some cheaper chinese made parking mode adapters which aren't as complex as the multi-safer and have a switch to select cut-off voltage.

      All installed and working and tested with this now (separate video to come). It has battery protection built in also with the relevant BlackVue product.
      In an EV it auto tops up the 12v if it gets to low, so its "less" of a concern.

    I bought this especially for parking mode usage. It has this switch for either parking mode or normal mode. Everything seems to work out fine. But after used it for 3 weeks, only normal recording works now, and parking mode does not work. When the ignition is off, the dashcam announces "powering down" when the switch is turn on to parking modus. Any help is appreciated

      You need to have it in parking mode with the ignition already powering it. I personally leave mine in parking mode ALL the time.

      @@SpectrumGeeks I do have it on parking mode all the time. (the switch turned on to the left where the sticker says "parking mode") I mentioned it in the text if you missed it. I tried out one thing to make it work. Like 50%, if I have battery protection on with 12,5V in the BlackVue battery settings it will switch on parking mode, but not always. But I noticed it only last 4 hours before powering down

      @@Phissile Might be worth doing voltage checks on your battery. Perhaps your battery is not able to provide the power to maintain parking mode, so the Conecta is doing its job to allow your car to still start based on minimum charge.

    How long will it power a 2-ch cam in parking mode before cutting off due to low battery?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I don't have the answer for that. Its going to depend how much power the 2 channel camera uses, how much charge the car 12v battery has, and the low voltage cut off you set on the camera.

  • @Jamie_Dee

    Does anyone find that every time you power it up from an off position, it takes about 30 seconds to even start to send power to the dashcam when you first start the engine?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not experienced this myself.

    Do you switch ignition off before you put it in parking mode

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No switch to parking mode prior to turning off the ignition.

    Yep! This plug connector won’t allow the fuse-box panel to snap back into place and like yourself, had to buy an ultra low profile OBD extension cable off Amazon. My vehicle is a Ford Ranger.

      @@SpectrumGeeks spread the word! I also informed my local Halfords who fitted my dash cam to stock these ultra low profile OBD2 flying extension leads. It makes a huge difference to the fitting itself! Without it, as in my case, the fuse~box cover could not be snapped flush back into position!!!!

    The reason it says to turn off parking mode if the car will sit for more than a week is because other electronics in the car will drain the battery even after the camera shuts off power possibly causing the vehicle to not start when with the normal parasitic drain in that timeframe (no dashcam taking extra power) the vehicle would’ve started after sitting.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Makes sense, but if the vampire drain of a car is that bad its pretty inefficient. Guess BlackVue are just covering their arse :)
