Commenting as my kiddos godmother has Celiacs and I have friends with Celiacs yes wheat and wheat by-products in beauty and skincare is a HUGE no no they will react very badly to it. Same if you have a Latex allergy, Mango seed butter is bad, because the plant is related.
You could get a pack of doe foot applicators from a pharmacy and use them to swatch things you aren't sure about! That way, you can test it without touching the one that goes back into the tube!
It's still not safe, she'd still be contaminating the product, but opening it at all is a contamination due to her talking and breathing on it... Legally she couldn't pass it on after that without saying used
Yes I was coming to say please get some dough foots to do swatches with. That way you can still give them to friends or family if you don't like them and we can see it.
You're right, people with celiacs can't use things with wheat protein. It's just another way of saying gluten. I used a hair product that had hydrolyzed wheat protein and got a rash on my neck that lasted for months. It was awful.
@bmckong typically they advise all celiac sufferers to avoid using lip products as those are more easily ingested. The other reply is correct about avoiding make up thats not gluten free if they have skin affected celiac disease.
I feel you. I was wondering why I was having constant rashes on my hands and arms with constant tummy pain and realized that the bath and body works gel hand sanitizer has wheat protein in it. Stopped using it and within a week it was gone. It sucks.
As someone with Celiac, wheat protein is exactly what I react to. Cosmetics aren't required to disclose things like that and the gluten free claims on others aren't regulated the way they are in food. Cosmetics are a minefield that is super fun to navigate.

When you take a shower or bath, it's inevitable for watered-downed remnants of your hair and body products to get into your mouth. Or you touch the body product and later bite your nails. I am an extremely sensitive Celiac, but I learned the hard way I would get a full-blown GI celiac reaction most of the time after using gluten body products. Just better not to risk it IMO.

Did your bank issue you a new card? I ask because some banks use a system that will provide new card numbers to companies that are charging you month over month.

Alexandria, you should buy a giant pack of those cheap foam eyeshadow wands and another giant pack of doe foot applicators, and one of those UV toothbrush sanitizers. Then you can swatch those products you aren't sure about with a brand new, unused, UV sterilized applicator and still give the product away because you didn't touch the product in any way. Just an idea.
As someone who is celiac I can verify that I had a reaction to the Origins cleanser. I was dizzy and shaky for the next several hours after using it. But oddly enough it didn't make me break out.

As an eyeshadow primer person, if you don’t need it don’t use it! I use it because EVERYTHING creases on my lids and eyeshadow primer is the only thing which gives eyeshadow any longevity. But it’s because of my eye shape and having oily skin. Not everyone needs eyeshadow primer and that’s OK! I don’t need highlighter lol

@@simbanala79 it is a game changer for me! Without it, my oily hooded lids just eat any shadow or concealer or foundation. It’s like I produce my own makeup remover. With primer my shadow and liner last all day. Urban decay is my ride or die but I’ve heard good things about milani.

I have the same problem and for my greasy eyelids the only ones that really works are mac in the tube or wet n wild, also tube. And since wet n wild is a fraction of the price I would go for that. On tiny tube lasts me for almost a year and I use makeup almost daily

I've used Urban Decay primer potion, MAC eyeshadow primer, Smashbox.. they're all similar and do the same thing. You only need a tiny bit (eyelids are small) so a single tube lasts ages (12 or more months of regular use) and why I go for the "higher" end brands - less likely to get faulty packaging.
I got a full Natasha Denona pallet this month.. The retro one and it is fabulous! Ipsy/boxycharm actually got better IMO since the merge.. I dropped boxycharm last year but I do enjoy having Ipsy/BC now..❤
To answer your question about the wheat: YES! Someone with a wheat allergy or gluten intolerance (or even Celiacs disease), can definitely have a reaction to them! I’ve had a mild allergic reaction to the Olaplex line (I normally have no issue with wheat in skin/hair care, but my scalp was having a bad day and was extra dry/itchy, and I had some tiny scratches on my scalp, which are always more sensitive) a few months ago, for reference. 😅 I still use it, just because (again) topicals don’t typically give me issues and my hair sucks without it. Lol

Celiac CAN have reactions to products with wheat/wheat protein in them. It depends on the tolerance/intolerance for each person. Personally I don’t really have a problem with them, although I do avoid products that are not wash off products that may have that in them
To respond to your celiac wheat question… it depends. Some people with celiacs have skin reactions however many don’t. Most people I know with celiacs avoid gluten in face and hand products just to be certain there are no accidental contamination, but I personally think everyone with celiacs should avoid it in lip products and hand soap but that’s my opinion. We avoid gluten in all skin items for my daughter who has celiacs because she’s very reactive and has a skin reaction to it as well. However my friend with celiacs doesn’t avoid it on the skin and doesn’t have any issues.
I have a friend who used to be a professional makeup artist and she always said that if you emphasise the eyes, with for example bright colours, or a deep smokey look, you should put a more natural colour on the lips to make your eyes look bigger, and viceversa. The pink lipstick perfectly sets off your look and makes your eyes look great .
As someone with Celiac disease, yes that product would be a no go. Even if you don't have a form of Celiac disease that reacts topically, anything you put on your body has some chance to be ingested. It is something that has made me frustrated for quite a while that the cosmetics products don't have to put what allergens they contain. I can't even tell you how many companies I have had to Email to see if I could use a product. And often if I ask they say it'll ba safe because it shouldn't be ingested, like they're just gonna ignore that some people have skin issues when coming into contact with gluten. I get itchy but thankfully no rash or hives. As my doctor told me, better to be safe and avoid products with gluten than be sorry for it later.

With the cards it would be a lot to print personalized cards for each box since there are so many options for the box. They did it at one point for the glam bag x and it was a small newspaper type thing because they had to print all the products. Boxycharm was able to print the cards because they had preset variations. Also must people that have Ipsy go and make their choices at the beginning of the month so they already know what they are getting and can see the prices while choosing.
I googled it for you. Yes people allergic to wheat react to the wheat protein. And you can get a reaction from not only food but also cosmetic products and things alike.

Tresluce is pronounced like the english words tress (with a rolled r) and loose with A (like the letter) at the end. Becky G said its a combo of Tres for her fav number (3) and Luce which literally means shine but is often used to say something looks good on someone.
Because they have so many variations of the boxes, I can understand the challenge of making a matching card for each box. But I can imagine creating a little info card for each product and including those when they assemble the boxes much more easily. It would also allow them to manage product substitutions easily. But I think they are just reducing labor and costs to increase profit. I don't think they care about customer experience at all.
I use the Il Makiage foundation and I love it so far! At first I tried it by itself but noticed it was settling into my pothole-sized pores so I got their primer and it made a huge difference! Unfortunately, my face is awful shape but the foundation evens it out and helps hide the flaws. I don't get a full day of wear out of it but that's my only complaint. That pallet was beautiful- I might have to see if I can order one!

Omgoodness!! Yes!! I really enjoyed having boxy separate. Ipsy for some stuff boxy for others. The surprise of boxys items was cool. The prices for sales were better also. Imo. I'm seeing items on ipsy sales left over from boxy sales ( I assume) but like double the price, after year/s on boxy.
The Tresluće eye primer is AMAZING ❤ You only need the TINIEST AMOUNT, I roll a lil bit off the doe foot on the top of my hand and use it. It helps even out my eyelids, cover any discoloration and it's sticky long enough to hold shimmers, glitters, duo chrome & mattes (all the textures 😅). Def should try it, it'll last forever too ❤
I love when you do try-ons not that you need makeup to look beautiful. I prefer a dark pink or red lip becaause my lips are colorless (is that a word) and nude shades don't work for me. I rarely see an unboxing that has prices or any paperwork on their products. You have to scan the code. I want paperwork in my hand. Always look forward tto your videos. Love ya ❤❤
I got that same eyeshadow quad and honestly it’s amazing. For a basic color quad the shadows are pretty much perfect, very pigmented no fallout and easy to blend. Silky smooth.
I am actually really enjoying my ipsay bag and the BC by Ipsy box. Especially if you go to the app in time to chose your products. I took a loooong break from boxes and I'm just a few months in, but I've really been loving the Ipsys lately!
Some celiacs may have a reaction. I can touch gluten but eating it makes me sick without the gluten ease pills which aren’t very good for you. I still avoid gluten in my lip and face products as that skin tends to be more sensitive in general. It just depends on the severity of an individual’s disease.
I wish i got those lippies. Those are my colors! They are the colors i wish they'd give me, but i always get dark colors I'll never wear. And i wish i got the eye primer. I never wear eye shadow without primer. It makes a HUGE difference. Especially with my aging skin.
I am also so frustrated with Boxy Charm. or Ipsy, or whoever they are now, ever since they merged! I've been getting Boxy Charm since 2018 and I've never been as frustrated with them as I have been since they merged. Things have just gone to crap and I'm on the verge of canceling. Maybe I'll go to the EyeScream box instead.
Yup, my friend with celiac can't wear a lot of nail polishes even. I can relate in a very minor way because I'm (skin and ingestion) allergic to natural peppermint and it's often in things like toothpaste and lotion that don't disclose things beyond saying "flavors" or "scents" so I can't know if what I'm smelling is artificial or is going to hurt me.

Alex I feel the same way I feel if they can put that little card in there that can print out what each product is worth and what it is about,. I heard that JLo's beauty is not getting as much attention as other people's beauty products. So I guess they're putting it in boxes now so people will try it and maybe buy it.😊❤
The cards probably aren’t done because there’s so many customized variations. The cards usually have tiny tidbits of info, this one was about color meanings. Anyway, I’m loving choices and customization and finding that it’s a huge improvement being able to pick 3 and have power in picking what I get.
I have Celiac and have used the Origins face wash for years without issue. As long as I don’t ingest it, I should be fine. Gluten can’t penetrate skin.

I got so fed up with them that I cancelled all my boxy when they merged into one. Unfortunately, I couldn’t concentrate, because I kept seeing your palms of your hands,. So I tried the Ilmakiage foundation because I have a hard time finding foundations. It was okay the one time I used it, I will say the bottle is heavy and glass, I did the try before you buy and had to buy it because the first time I used it I dropped the bottle and it shattered and spilled everywhere 😅

Wheat protein is not celiac safe for all but if you just have gastrointestinal celiac issues it's fine, it's very rare to experience wheat allergies if not ingested since most celiacs just have an issue with the villi in your intestine and it prevents absorption of nutrients and it also wreaks havok with body inflammation, it's not an in depth assessment but in short, some celiacs have issues with all wheat but most have issues only with consumption of wheat, and it's not fda required to list common allergens on topical products like it is with consumables
Also…on the Ipsy app when you go to buy stuff it gives you the retail price…those aren’t even always right. I got an a Veda product it said cost 41 but it cost 22.
Wish I didn’t need eye primer . I think it would be good if you did a series of doing a make up look with all the products you have recieved in boxes then you can try new things you must have lots from boxes you get . Just an idea
I ALWAYS put lip balm on, after my moisturiser, and before doing my lips. I hate the feeling of dry lips, but I like a lips liner, and a clear lip plumper I know they don't really plump much, but they feel, and look good. Also, could you let us know how much the boxes are, please? 💖
Not sure if you plan to try the Origins face wash but I switched to that one a few years ago and use it twice daily. It’s gentle on my skin and feels refreshing to use if that makes sense.
I’d love if you did a review of the Il Makiage foundation. I’ve been thinking if getting it but it’s expensive and unless it really is the best thing ever, it’s not worth it to me. I’d definitely watch a series of like “TikTok made me buy it”
I was very disappointed with it. Very cakey even when I sheered it out as much as possible. It didn’t match my skin even though I answered the quiz as accurately as possible. Very heavy on the face. Everyone I know who got it is not too jazzed about it.
Since members get to choose 3 items in the Boxycharm by Ipsy box, there is no way for them to process cards with the items for each box. It would be so many combinations that it makes it impossible. I agree, they just need to leave the paperwork out of the box.

You are absolutely correct. People who are sensitive to gluten need to avoid wheat protein in skin care.
Have you tried to use Aquaphor for the lips? It's pretty good! You can even do a normal hydrating lipbalm and then the aquaphor on top.

You hit the nail on the head when you said maybe Ipsy just kept charging your card until it went through. They have definitely done that to me before. Cause I can tell you that unless those are PR, they aren't giving out free ipsy boxes

Because they have so many variations of the boxes, I can understand the challenge of making a matching card for each box. But I can imagine creating a little info card for each product and including those when they assemble the boxes much more easily. It would also allow them to manage product substitutions easily. But I think they are just reducing labor and costs to increase profit. I don't think they care about customer experience at all.
I use the Il Makiage foundation and I love it so far! At first I tried it by itself but noticed it was settling into my pothole-sized pores so I got their primer and it made a huge difference! Unfortunately, my face is awful shape but the foundation evens it out and helps hide the flaws. I don't get a full day of wear out of it but that's my only complaint. That pallet was beautiful- I might have to see if I can order one!

Omgoodness!! Yes!! I really enjoyed having boxy separate. Ipsy for some stuff boxy for others. The surprise of boxys items was cool. The prices for sales were better also. Imo. I'm seeing items on ipsy sales left over from boxy sales ( I assume) but like double the price, after year/s on boxy.

The Tresluće eye primer is AMAZING ❤ You only need the TINIEST AMOUNT, I roll a lil bit off the doe foot on the top of my hand and use it. It helps even out my eyelids, cover any discoloration and it's sticky long enough to hold shimmers, glitters, duo chrome & mattes (all the textures 😅). Def should try it, it'll last forever too ❤
Glitter is the herpes of crafting...you can't get rid of it. I would say those boxes are the same for you with subscription boxes.
The best thing I have ever ever used to clean my beauty sponge is hotel/ motel soap it's amazing gets all of the foundation off of it
I got that first palette in my june boxy and I was impressed with how expensive the component felt. The shadows are nice.
I love when you do try-ons not that you need makeup to look beautiful. I prefer a dark pink or red lip becaause my lips are colorless (is that a word) and nude shades don't work for me. I rarely see an unboxing that has prices or any paperwork on their products. You have to scan the code. I want paperwork in my hand. Always look forward tto your videos. Love ya ❤❤

I got that same eyeshadow quad and honestly it’s amazing. For a basic color quad the shadows are pretty much perfect, very pigmented no fallout and easy to blend. Silky smooth.
I am actually really enjoying my ipsay bag and the BC by Ipsy box. Especially if you go to the app in time to chose your products. I took a loooong break from boxes and I'm just a few months in, but I've really been loving the Ipsys lately!
Some celiacs may have a reaction. I can touch gluten but eating it makes me sick without the gluten ease pills which aren’t very good for you. I still avoid gluten in my lip and face products as that skin tends to be more sensitive in general. It just depends on the severity of an individual’s disease.
Loved the blush / highlighter palette from the second box. The brushes were nice too!
I wish i got those lippies. Those are my colors! They are the colors i wish they'd give me, but i always get dark colors I'll never wear. And i wish i got the eye primer. I never wear eye shadow without primer. It makes a HUGE difference. Especially with my aging skin.

I am also so frustrated with Boxy Charm. or Ipsy, or whoever they are now, ever since they merged! I've been getting Boxy Charm since 2018 and I've never been as frustrated with them as I have been since they merged. Things have just gone to crap and I'm on the verge of canceling. Maybe I'll go to the EyeScream box instead.
Yup, my friend with celiac can't wear a lot of nail polishes even. I can relate in a very minor way because I'm (skin and ingestion) allergic to natural peppermint and it's often in things like toothpaste and lotion that don't disclose things beyond saying "flavors" or "scents" so I can't know if what I'm smelling is artificial or is going to hurt me.
Tip: put on some lip balm before a matte lipstick. It will go on smooth and not emphasize chapping.

Alex I feel the same way I feel if they can put that little card in there that can print out what each product is worth and what it is about,. The cards probably aren’t done because there’s so many customized variations. The cards usually have tiny tidbits of info, this one was about color meanings. Anyway, I’m loving choices and customization and finding that it’s a huge improvement being able to pick 3 and have power in picking what I get.

I have Celiac and have used the Origins face wash for years without issue. As long as I don’t ingest it, I should be fine. Gluten can’t penetrate skin.
Girl, let me first say, I absolutely love your videos. Usually, your rants are completely spot on with how I feel especially with Ipsy/boxy. I got so fed up with them that I cancelled all my boxy when they merged into one. Unfortunately, I couldn’t concentrate, because I kept seeing your palms of your hands,. From past videos, I assume happened is from self tanning. You’ve got to get yourself some gloves, mits, or something to apply the tanning! Love, you, totally not meaning to be mean!

So I tried the Ilmakiage foundation because I have a hard time finding foundations. It was okay the one time I used it, I will say the bottle is heavy and glass, I did the try before you buy and had to buy it because the first time I used it I dropped the bottle and it shattered and spilled everywhere 😅

Some of the bright pink blushes actually go on looking like a nice flush of color. Especially if you don’t pack the brush with product
Wheat protein is not celiac safe for all but if you just have gastrointestinal celiac issues it's fine, it's very rare to experience wheat allergies if not ingested since most celiacs just have an issue with the villi in your intestine and it prevents absorption of nutrients and it also wreaks havok with body inflammation, it's not an in depth assessment but in short, some celiacs have issues with all wheat but most have issues only with consumption of wheat, and it's not fda required to list common allergens on topical products like it is with consumables
Also…on the Ipsy app when you go to buy stuff it gives you the retail price…those aren’t even always right. I got an a Veda product it said cost 41 but it cost 22.
Wish I didn’t need eye primer . I think it would be good if you did a series of doing a make up look with all the products you have recieved in boxes then you can try new things you must have lots from boxes you get . Just an idea

Not sure if you plan to try the Origins face wash but I switched to that one a few years ago and use it twice daily. It’s gentle on my skin and feels refreshing to use if that makes sense.
The gluten question, for me would be a Yes. I would not take a chance on a product that uses wheat because my body is very sensitive.

I’d love if you did a review of the Il Makiage foundation. I’ve been thinking if getting it but it’s expensive and unless it really is the best thing ever, it’s not worth it to me. I’d definitely watch a series of like “TikTok made me buy it”
I was very disappointed with it. Very cakey even when I sheered it out as much as possible. It didn’t match my skin even though I answered the quiz as accurately as possible. Very heavy on the face. Everyone I know who got it is not too jazzed about it.
Since members get to choose 3 items in the Boxycharm by Ipsy box, there is no way for them to process cards with the items for each box. It would be so many combinations that it makes it impossible. I agree, they just need to leave the paperwork out of the box.
