A magnificent performance by Siouxsie & the Banshees. It was brilliant to add horns. Steve is throwing down a thumping bass line. His incredible bass rhythm added a distinctive sound to their music. Budgie was a solid drummer keeping a tight rhythm. All hail our Queen of Goth!!
I missed out on this band in the 80's but now here we are enjoying this great performance. I love youtube. She's fucking awesome and her music stands up well.
@@NINOABSNABSN Not just "called". These bands "were" underground. I grew up in the 80's, and only my hardcore friends who wore black and went to clubs all the time knew about bands like these at their peak. MTV was too busy playing Madonna and Duran Duran to play this obscure stuff. Maybe if you listened to KROQ all night on a sunday. I did finally catch up on all this stuff during the early 90's but just not the same to catch bands like this at their peak. My favorite Siouxse song is Cities in Dust...which I saw from some 80's movie. Keep on.
Te conocí libre, huyendo a cualquier lugar. Me alegra que así tan libre, creciste para bien. Se que nada ni nadie te hará cambiar, pero con esa libertad, quiero que sigas haciendo tantas cosas más. Vete pero nunca olvides que mis brazos siempre, siempre… tendrás un lugar
For some reason producers and executives of most tv or cable shows required the acts to lip sync back then siouxsie and robert smith was always pissed about that
A lot of 80s music programmes were e.g. Countdown in Australia, every band was miming, & we all knew it. The Cure did a song & even 'played' their guitars with loose strings, & upside down. Iggy Pop deliberately didn't even pretend to sing on one occasion.
Lot's of bands didn't bother to mime. The Cure performance was from 'Countdown'. In UK especially ,Musicians Union rules meant programmes like TOTP stated that bands had to use the BBC house orchestra or else they had to mime. Many bands like The Clash refused to appear because of these rules
@@youjoker9647 Johnny Rotton did something similar on American Bandstand. He didn't sing at all and moved all of the dancing couples around to other parts of the stage. I heard it really pissed off the host, Dick Clark.
it is, but that was the only option - forced on the group. She still puts in a fantastic performance and she did get to sass that annoying announcer + give us an awesome roll before the recording cut over.

Siouxsie Sioux had a historical look. Besides a great singer.
her outfit is soo cute i love it
The horns added to this song are brilliant!
She plays off the horn well
Iggy now uses them
I love singing to this song especially when I’m driving but afraid I’ll drive off the road, lol
Me too, that's why I only listen when I am ...the passenger
Ah yes, the 80's 🎉🥳🎉🥳🍾🎈👯
So very grateful for having been in my 20's from 82' onwards.
What a time to be young and alive 🇬🇧
She could melt a candle at ten paces.
I missed out on this band in the 80's but now here we are enjoying this great performance. I love youtube. She's fucking awesome and her music stands up well.
I feel so lucky to live in this time when we can view these things so easily
They were post punk, anti new wave, pre apocalyptic, psychedelic, what was called underground at the time.

She looks amazing out there.
I agree. Sometimes she looked quite plump, but I like the slim version of her.
And she is
Yes....
Punk Princess, original goth queen, queen of new wave music...
Punk Queen
Best version this of song ever...!!!!!!!!
Oh my God why don't they promote these awesome artists on the radio more oh my God this is a bad ass song love it love it love it😍😍😍😍😍😍
Absolutely love this era of the band ❤️❤️
Oh how I love ❤️ you Siouxsie forever great 😌 great track Siouxsie & Banishees
You dont ask Siouxie the question, you just give her the mic
I saw "I, Tonya" yesterday. A few seconds into the closing credits and I knew what I was listening to! Surprised, but it was PERFECT.
Recorded live at Petofi Csarnok Disco Show TV year 1987, Budapest, Hungary
Best cover version of "The Passenger" even better than Iggy Pop.
Love how Siouxsie Sioux carry the tune with that iconic singing voice she has.
Yep,her version even made Iggy Pop seem lackluster.
@@kevincarlson4562 Glad you noticed. More like sipping too much of that Bourbon and Whisky.
@@mymusic5632 Haha, wish I could relate.Brown liquor gives me migraines and they won't bring back the guillotine.
Iggy should rerecord it. His version sounds like a demo. It's an amazing song, and Siouxsie owns it.

Another fantastic track thanks Siouxsie love you Siouxsie forever ❤️❤️💋💋👍
Потрясающе...
she indeed is, 80´s glam
No, she’s Goth
@@richardperricone6909 shut de fok up bro 💀💀💀
Punk and goths came from glam
And of course post- Punk. Goth was originally subgenre of post-punk
❤️I Love the Siouxsie and the Banshees group, but mostly Siouxsie Sioux ❤️🥇💎🎸🤘🎼🎵♬❤️
Not sure where the brass is coming from but I love it 😆
@@DanielHollingsworth not for me sorry 🙂

Me gusta mucho su estilo de música 👩🎤

Good stuff and EARTH IS FLAT!
For some reason producers and executives of most tv or cable shows required the acts to lip sync back then siouxsie and robert smith was always pissed about that
I wish the two of them would’ve done more together after the Cure.
im in love with her
Siouxsie is "POP" Iggy (POP) is History!

Watch the movie: "I Tonya" where this song plays at the end credits. You won't be sorry.
Wow, I'm dumb. I had no idea that album was all covers.
The 11 thumbs down can only be mistakes !!!

Totally!

She didn’t want too, had no choice.
No guitar in this presentation?
Gente isso foi meu pai
Carruthers had left by then. Another guitarist casualty!
Siouxsie herself should have been playing guitar .... there was never a place for a guitarist among the Banshees.
Guido Lucherini Benvenuti She could only play a few chords!
+Largactyl Kid She is more of a percussionist.
Dexter 101
Per forza, solo un povero idiota può non apprezzare una simile artista...
Uh... Where's the guitar player?
Are we sure this isn't a lip sink
it is, but that was the only option - forced on the group. She still puts in a fantastic performance and she did get to sass that annoying announcer + give us an awesome roll before the recording cut over.
Driven away John Carruthers by this time. WTF has she against guitarists? Ended up with Knox Chandler!
+Largactyl Kid It was Siouxsie and the Banshees, not the Banshee's and Siouxsie.
+jim crow She's the one that seemed to always fall out with guitarists. Smart arse.
+Largactyl Kid I'll never understand why Carruthers left...
Knox is fucking great
Problem is:none of them were John McGeoch...
рррррррр
lip synching. that's a disappointment.
Don't think so!
It's mimed. Lip synched. Not sung live.
Perfectly normal at that time, it's not as if she had a choice
True. It's a 50/50 split searching the videos.
There are some great one out there, just have to sift through these, and the lower level live pieces.
Pissed her off
