I have admired Adrian's work on TH-cam for almost 10 years now, so it was a pleasure and honor to finally get to sit down and play with him. We only had about an hour and a half (I was on tour) to arrange and record this tune, so I had to splice together two takes (hence the vanishing bag). Big thanks to Adrian for lending me his friend Robin Nolan (an amazing player in his own right)'s guitar. It is made by JWC Guitars, and Adrian is playing a Holo.

About Josh Turner Guitar
Josh began making TH-cam videos in 2007. Ranging from popular to esoteric, local to far flung, and playful to serious, Josh’s videos offer a little something for everyone. Josh also performs regularly with long-time collaborator, Carson McKee, as the folk duo The Other Favorites. Josh’s first full-length solo album, As Good A Place As Any, was released in April 2019.
Equipment:
Recorded on a Zoom H2. Filmed on a Canon 70D with a lovely L lens (Thanks Reina!) Edited in Pro Tools and Premiere.
Thanks for the fun times, Josh!
Django Framework make sense now!
great playing Adrian!
Muy buen trabajo, Adrián. Gracias.
Perfect playing both! Very similar to the Perfesser, Gene Nichols, whom I heard play this at a fundraiser in the late eighties. At one time called the greatest guitarist in the United States by his friend Jim Croce. I don’t mean that you guys sound like his stuff on purpose, most people don’t even know who he was, I am giving you the highest compliment possible on a cover track, in that such an amazing performance of your reminded me of him. I searched the web high and low, and all I found was him playing a saw while a guy played his theramin, people came from worldwide to play on an original that Theramin made for him, so all we have is him like a few years older than dirt playing the saw, which is exactly why you boys need to keep on recording!
To Adrian, you are such a gift, you are wonderful to hear, joy and skill always are. I don’t know you any more than that, I’m afraid. I have been following Josh for a while now, the word is genius, get used to it. Your musical choices, your talent and many gifts, and the way you bring out the best in others qualifies you for the word. This coming from someone who sat on her back porch watching Steve Goodman back in the day. He knew how to laugh, too. I think I actually heard Steve do Martha my Dear, again the joy and skill, yeah he shared those as well. He was Jon Prine’s best friend, I think you have done like Paradise or another of his. I just thought I would take the time to say this, I know a few of your patrons and others I have steered your way, and I wanted them and others to hear. Don’t be an unsung hero hon, play with as many people as you can, but get it all on tape! We have nothing from the Perfessor, little from Goodman, Ole Joe of St. Pancras just died with only a few minutes of him ever recorded, on piano and being silly singing from one of the Mediterranean ‘s premiere musical talents of the sixties. He would love you boys, he would probably have cried to hear you Adrian! He lost himself in prison, I remember my Dad Donald Beckwith, greatest alcoholic guitarist of all time according to Kris Kristofferson, just crying saying no way Joe was going to survive and he kinda didn’t. So, I say stay out of trouble especially in countries whose language you do not speak, stay way from chemical recreation, and collaborate on and off camera as much as you can. If you are in London call up Terry Miles or Brendan Kavenough, either one of you or both, they would adore this track and you can never have enough crazy genius piano men in your life, that’s a rule. My only other rule is that you introduce yourself to Alice Cooper, he has more road wisdom and just plain old guy wisdom than almost anyone out there and he would feel honored to know you. Let him beat you at golf though, it’s the only time he voluntarily gets any sunshine and should be encouraged. Peace.
Nope, have to say it again. Peter Tork’s Lady’s Baby! Maybe Reina would sing it, but I think you could pull it all off. Cooper’s I Never Cry is a thought to.
..please remove the comma, it incompletes the sentence...thanks!
You guys sounded amazing!
Oooh yes, so good guys!
Guitar PewDiePie approves. 🙌🙌
Paul davids commenting on this.... my two favorite youtube celebs appreciating each others work makes my day
you need to take singing classes paul.

Wow
Just turned 64 today.
Thanks for making my day.
The good news is that she still needs and feeds me!
Just turned 64, 1 hour ago and chose your version to listen to. To remind me there's still hope for good musicians in the future.
Yes, there is. So glad to see/hear musicians who don't need a machine to keep a beat.
I've only got a day left at 64. Glad I caught this in time!
there's a lot of great musicians nowadays, it's just the industry don't pick them up since the fans are looking for what's in the industry right now. degenerate's music
I just turned 65 and remember when this song came out and thought that was so far away.....well......woosh....here I am. LOL Thank you for the fun song which hasn’t aged at all.
63 in two weeks! Jeesh, were did years go? Great job guys.
Welcome to my world!
The day before I reached 65 I still felt youngish, the
day of my birthday not too bad, the day after that I suddenly turned into this old bloke who keeps taking about the good old days!
Where have the years gone😂
Here's another old codger -- I turn 64 in January. I bet Paul thinks about writing this now at 77 and muses about the good old days at 64.
I am a tad younger but yes, time flies.
Only just finding this one now. Utterly fab!
Adrian's solo at 1:34 is beyond brilliant. What a talent.
Totally Agree!
4-fingered Django,
For Sure.
Hate to be a party pooper, but the solo impressed me the least. It lacked vibrato big time. Quite important when playing gypsy swing as it also determines dynamic control! It could also be the guitar make had poor sound. Well, getting just an OK Selmer-Maccaferri can be a very pricey enterprise.
Sorry for being that guy, but that certainly isn't talent. It's hundreds of hours of work and sweat and blistered fingers ; that is, in my opinion, what we should praise. I think there's no such thing as talent
My dad died at 64... This song means so much to me!
sending love ❤
@@Bc232klm thanks ❤️
2015 Josh: “I was hesitant to ever cover The Beatles, but I’ll try anything once.” (Martha My Dear vid)
2016: I Saw Her Standing There
2017: Eleanor Rigby; Michelle
2019: When I’m 64; Rocky Raccoon
Also “Get Back” frequently in concert :)
he did she's leaving home too
@@reigenlucilfer6154 and damn well at that
Ah, it seems we share a favourite Beatle!
He did junk too
@@davidevans7897 yes Mac cartney’ s songs
I'm a few months 64 and I've been listening to this song most of my life. Life is catching up with art. I may out run it.
I just realized that I was in my early 20's when I started listening to Josh and Adrian. I'm 31 this year, but I'm glad to know that your music will still be here 33 years from now. Cheers from Paris, gentlemen.
Nicely done, gentlemen!
69 years plus ! What a ride! Thanks guys! Many memories from when this beautiful song came out and you guys were brilliant!
Thanks for making my Dad so happy on his 64th birthday, guys !!
This is a great song, one for all time! The Beatles
I am 70, still love this song and their great version. thank you.
Today is my little sister's 64th birthday, so I sent her this video. Thank you, Josh. Thank you, Adrian.
Damn Josh turner and they people he brings on the channel. Been a fan for a long time going back through the old stuff and it's just amazing
I hope Paul McCartney gets a load of this video. He'll LOVE it!
YESSSSSSS
I was listening to you one morning Josh, and my dad walked in and said. "Imagine being twenty seven years old, and sounding better than the Beatles!"
I was younger than you when this song came out, and let me warn you Josh, that 64 creeps up on you faster than you can imagine!!
Hee hee. And all that, don't trust anyone over thirty stuff....
You ain't kidding, I'm still 64 until February.
So true. I loved John but I liked Paul's "granny stuff" even back then when it wasn't cool and one of the advantages of age is no longer caring if I'm cool
Up thumb to 65...sorry!
Amen.
I'm 64 and remember the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Loved them then. Love them now. I love this version guys!! Well done! Love the feel!
Ever since I stumbled on to josh turner sultans of swing, I have been a fan, talented kid and extremely versatile. He also finds many other musicians to play with, all who are unique. Thanks Josh
Every Beatle song covered by Josh is simply fantastic
Adrian's eyebrow at 01:57 "Man that sounded pretty good."
Again at 2:39
Probably the most understated 'guitar face' I've ever seen lol
Ha!
Well it did sound pretty good
WONDERFUL!!!! WONDERFUL!!! Adrian, AWESOME JOB!!!!!
Finally, a Beatles cover worth listening.
more than 64 here. Great to see this. bravo !
Who knew this would lend so well to gypsy jazz treatment?! I swear.... Josh Turner & friends are nothing short of a perpetual factory of feel-goodness. What you guys deliver is less just playing music and more providing spiritual services to your fellow man. Thank you and carry on, mate.
A big smile on my face 😊😊
This is great. I am so thankful that we have a platform that allows us to enjoy the talent of people like Josh and Adrian.
Getting Close to 64 and still enjoying these guys great music
I love how you said "chuck" with Paul's voice! You've got a good ear for impressions as well as music.
Noticed that too. Doesn't get that clipped Liverpudlian U though :-)
I've noticed that he seems to fall into a British accent, when he sings a McCartney song. LOL
You guys are the BEST IN THE GAME. My father and I are obsessed.
This is a version of this song we didn’t know we needed!
Has moved past being 64, still loves this song.....and this version is just really fine.
Oh man, what a birthday present! Saw you in cologne, you and carson signed my lee stavall record and the concert was one of the best ive seen in my short life of (now) 23 years 😊
Jannis Rombeck i was standing there and saw the moment your guitar was signed! What an evening!
Just magic. Way to brighten the day boys.
1:08 Magic!!!
Enjoyed that jazz treatment from Adrian H. It's not often my attention is diverted from Josh T's guitar playing. Nearly 71 now, 64 seems young, but I remember when it seemed ridiculously old. You guys showed just how good this piece of music can be.
Holy cow. This Adrian is THE inventor of the Django web framework. I thought that was a different person. A multi-talented person, perfectly matched with Josh Turner.
Paul and I believe especially his father Jim being a Jazz Kat would have been very happy to hear this version. Great arrangement, vocal & guitar solo. 👏👏🙏🎸
Gypsy jazz is my favorite! Thank You for featuring it in your upload!
Can't stop smiling. Wonderful.
Absolutely awesome!!!! Both guitars have the perfect tone for this song and Adrian's playing just blows me away
Adrian rocks. Do more with him please!
Good job! Forgot what a great chord progression and rhythm that was! Y'all nailed it in a gypsy fashion!
Can't stop replaying it
The outtake at the end is too relatable.
Great to feature Adrian. To me he is one of the great guitarist!
I love Adrian's gypsy jazz style, I think I've been following his channel even longer than Josh's
even josh has to smile for the playing of adrian....sooo goooood
Your voice is getting so much brighter!
The smile on Adrian's face says how good this is
One of ( the many) pearls of Paul McCartney.
This Django Reinhardt version is exellent.
I'm turning '64 in January. I was 9 when this was originally released.. Great job..
Adrian is my hero. How can one person have so many talents in one physical body gosh
It was this song which convinced my 75 yr old dad that Paul was a genius and he was hooked on McCartney’s music from then on to the very day he died at age 85.
OMG, Josh Turner and Adrian Holovaty together! 😍
Never knew that she was so talented ❤
It is in the spirit of The Beatles to "seamlessly" glue two parts of a tune together :)
Unbelievable!!! I can't imagine how many takes it took to nail that masterpiece with no slip ups. Well Done!!! 🤩
I love the “completely committed to the music” bed head.
Just turn 64 in September and sent it to friends and family. Hope they smile too. Josh is a favorite but he knows this already! :)
KBS
I really love - so much - Paul's "granny songs" (like "She leaving home", "Your mother should know", "Marta my dear", etc.) and you two have been great, great with this one ^^
Excellent arrangement.
I just realized that I'm 64. I never thought about it before (at least not in this context). Been listening to this song since I was a teenager.
This was the best version.
Just great. Love how AH's guitar fills in those vocal melodies.
Very refreshing to see 2 young guys to sing "when I'm 64"
One of your best. It's like Paul McCartney meets Django Reinhardt. It's really a treat for us viewers enjoying a great tune done to perfection in intimate quarters at five feet from the performers. You guys need an album together; the simplicity of one singer/two guitars is so damn refreshing compared to noise-filled over-produced songs today. ciao.
Ho 64 anni ma non sono nell’isola di Wight. Sono in Sardegna e non so descrivere quanto mi fa piacere sentirvi suonare!Bravissimi!!!
Thank You for this amazing version of an amazing piece of music ! From France !
One of my FAVE Beatles' songs!!! I was absolutely in LOVE with this ALL the WAY through!!! WHAT FUN!!!!
It's a tune filled with such gratitude. Great work, Adrian and Josh.
Thank you once again Josh...
So Good Josh, as always. And Amazing! Adrian Holovaty!
I'm not feeling very good today - as a matter of fact, I'm really sick, and I thought I would go to TH-cam and watch your video "Stuck in The Middle With You" for the thousandth time - just to maybe lighten my mood if only for a while - then I found this video - I'm going to be 61 in a week - you guys have made me smile - I love it - Thank you.
Great musical talent, giving his personal touch, impressive musicians, greetings from Argentina !!
I get so lost in these videos I absolutely love them. So much talent and fun. Cannot get enough
This is absolutely stunning, buzzing to see you at the music hall in my home town Aberdeen!
Wow!!!.....just wow.
Im a big BEATLES fan....and this cover.... tells me im not alone in this hiphop era.
Thaks guys....this is great.
Oh boy !
What a nice way to start my day . Regards from Brazil.
Josh, I am 66 years old and I love your stuff. You have to be a hit with the Boomers as you do so much of our music, so well. Thank you!
It bears repeating that on top of all the singing and playing there is the technical wizardry. Magic Vanishing Bag? How?
Once again someone proves that the music of the Beatles is timeless. Nice job Josh and Adrian.
I will still follow this channel, when I am 64!
He has an unexpectedly pleasant voice!
Two of my favorite guitarists! This is awesome!
Scott Penick my thoughts exactly!
Adrian is literally one of my first YT subscriptions. So glad to see him!
Tried to learn this by ear.... made it to the second chord.
so may i ask what are the first two chords ? :)

One of my all time favorite songs ever!! You killed it, Josh! (As usual)
Brought a smile to my face. BRILLIANT Version!!!!!! 👏👏
Yes! more beatles! You're an inspiration Josh
this left me with the biggest smile on my face. Love how you seem to be having the best time, the imitated liverpudlian accent and the little "whoo!" at the end. Also this was such a beautiful rendition
Awwwwwwww. Well said. That Is how it feels sometimes. Thanks for reminding us and adding that funny clip at the end.
@2:45 was the best part of the video, made me smile. You guys are awesome, great cover.
Been waiting for this collab ever since the Costa Lukacs tune, Bravo my dudes
I pretty much listen to this every day to put me in a good mood. Works every time.
Paul McCartney now 77.......Great job guys!
while my guitar gently burns .!!!!!....perfection, just perfection.
