Chamberlain messed up his knee late in Q4, Game 7 of 1969 finals. This game is (was at one time) on TH-cam. Go see that Wilt could barely walk - good only for 1/2-court.
If Russell really slagged Wilt, I would say he was focused on the game = not so much on his rival's health.
Russell was around 6'10", Chamberlain was around 7'1"
For the era, I'd rather have Russell to build around. For newer era's, I think I'd rather have Chamberlain. Only problem is Wilt would ask for way more money, meaning less talent can come in to build around him

And in a game where all y have to do is win by 1, a speed bump in your game can be very costly. People look at the stats and see Russell 16 and 23 vs wilt 28 and 25 and think wilt dominated him. But don’t think about the fact that wilt against everyone else puts up 40 and 28. That slight bump in ppg is the difference between a win and a loss. Russell knew no one could stop him. But if u can deny that production just a little bit….
Wilt was the better and more domineering athlete and talent. But Russell was the better basketball player. His style of play wasn’t as flashy or statically pleasing. But it worked extremely well and was versatile and easy to build around. Wilt is lebron James, stats, dominance, and when he’s on, there’s no answer for him, but sometimes the ego, and him getting in his own head gets in his way. Russell is a superstar draymond green/Kevin Garnett hybrid defensively with great athleticism, and while limited offensively, he played his role and set his guys up for success.
