    Wouldn’t it be best to replace those rack n pinion hard lines with steel braided lines to avoid future leaks

      Probably going to have to regardless exhuast is going to be to close

    Good stuff and thanks for sharing, this was a great upload.
    This may be a stupid question but I have to ask, could pinions be removed from their housings and swaped over so you end up with crv pinion in db8 pinion housing?

    • @jdmnuggets
      @jdmnuggets  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well shit. Yes? Lol. I never considered even trying that because of the way the rack on the dc seals to the firewall. Where the rd1 seems to be weather proofed? But you could be right

    • @bluewanderer9903
      @bluewanderer9903 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jdmnuggets I get you, maybe that seal could be transfered too... I dont have any eg/dc stuff here just ek/rd1 so cant compare.

      You might be onto something here, i may have messed up bending those lines etc. If i have leaks or clearance issues i will pull it aparts and try swaping the casing over from the dc.

      @@jdmnuggets lines will very likely be fine, as long as engine/box/shaft fits and works leave it... Maybe if you have time try dismantling eg pinion... I will have more time next week and will fire few emails around, will check about that ecu too. If I can find eg rack I will buy it just to test this, have rd1 stuff already here... see how it goes...

      Here's hoping lol. Will test fit the engine and connect the rack and column, trying to put out videos more frequently. I can pull the eg pinion and compare it to the dc, but everything ive found on the eg suggests its physically smaller. The high pressure line fittings seem to be smaller aswell the hybrid racing power steering line kit comes with a smaller fitting for the eg

    Will the crv rack bolt up to the eg/dc2 subframe but the lines won't run in the correct direction? Because I have 2 spare rd1 racks already and looking to do a k swap would hate to have to buy more racks

    • @jdmnuggets

      The racks mount to the subframe completely different on a rd1 compared to eg/dc. You can keep the rd1 subframe and get different mounts but i wouldn't recommend it.

    ST7 Steering rack? My RD1 Pinion is a different spline compared to my ST7 DC2 rack. 8 teeth on the RD1 9 Teeth on the ST7

    Wouldn't a second gen CRV subframe work with a K swap? Second gen CRV run a K20 and are the same basic body as a first gen, just with updated appearance and engine. I wish I still had my first gen crv as I really wanted to go K24 turbo AWD. Subbed 😁

    • @jdmnuggets
      @jdmnuggets  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Highly doubt it, completely different chassis also second gen rd5 run the steering rack up high on the firewall connecting to the strut. In my other videos i pull one apart for its awd k20 manual gearbox

      @@jdmnuggets I didn't know about the steering rack there! I'll definitely remember that for the future if I get another first gen crv! Can't wait to see some progress on this one 😁

      @@Clutchdjw 2nd gen crv are based on ep chassis meaning mcpherson front suspension, completely different steering systems. This is why rd/dc/eg/ek are still highly sought after, double wishbone is far superior to mcpherson. But mcP is cheaper and compact, it doesnt take as much space for mounting.

    The steering shaft u joint Hook up?

    • @sirlapis9998
      @sirlapis9998 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory it should because hes using the rd1 pinion. May be a hight difference and need to space something out a bit to get it to line up

      @jdmnuggets  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steering u joint hooked up fine but lines on the rack arnt going to work. Will have to try swap internals of crv pinion to the dc2 case then run stock lines. Or... have lines made
