Hello sir. My experience with nightvision (Which defines a category, not a product), is 2½ years of army time including tour to Iraq. I was a Royal Danish Army Mechanised Infantry and woodlands was our turf, we owned the woodlands where ever we went. The often green night vision is technically called light intensifying equipment, which means that it intensify the light from the surroundings, no light no image. Ive been on patrol were our LI were useless; on a overcast night and in a pine or spruce forest, forget it. On a clear frosty night with the moon out full lit up and snow; you can see as it was day, no kidding. Thats where the IR lamp comes in, that creates a "black light" that humans cant see but is picked up by the electronics, that is the light you see on yours, and thats why it have a range limit. But that creates a tactical problem, that IR light can be seen for kilometers on a dark night. Like tracers, it works both ways. LI equipment does not have a range limit, the only limit is the amount of IR and visible light. Try buying a IR filter for your flashlights, then you can have massive amount of black light. I had a IR filter for my Surefire doing deployment, and it worked great. Thermals are a much different category, they use the opposite end of the frequency spectrum. And they dont show heat, thermals shows temperature differences, with the resolution of the sensor making the most limitations. Oh, and when i saw that you turned it on during daylight, my heart skipped a few beats! But i guess the one we used where of a different generation.
Makes it spooky, I use a hip flask with whiskey to see in the dark , much more relaxing lol. No seriously i have a monocular pulsar and put a red filter on the eye viewer so my eye rods are protected.
It's a piece of tool that really works, the price is not very high and the quality is super good, yes, that Land Rover is getting heavier and heavier, it will soon be at low gear to drive uphill. 😆
Greetings man! Hope all swell! Wanted to ask, did you get a ground sheet for the bell tent? I know you didn't start with one. Would you recommend what time of ground sheet to get for a bell tent? Canvas truck tarp or a plastic truck tarp perhaps. Thanks a million! :)
A pallet wood floor would be ideal , or a canvas tarp. I use plastic tarp it has been fine so far. Depending on your temperatures you could leave the floor or use bark chip 👍👍
Hey Dean. Do you have your heating sorted out for the coming winter. They are talking low diesel fuel levels here. And uncle joeker and his buddies still are trying to turn off the lights here in the USA. Got some potatoes and squash for my mesls, and a bit of wood for my grill. Voting for governor of my state is coming up soon, it is a tight one mate, one proper person and another strange one. Wow challenging times mate. Take care.
Digital night vision is a mixed bag. On the one hand it gives you the ability to see a few hundred yards in darkness (with an inferred light) which can be advantageous in many scenarios and very handy if scanning for predators or civilian trespassers. On the other hand it can paint a big target on your back. The two big downsides for me are: 1) digital NV in the
Your information is outdated, well below 1000usd, there are allready digital NVG that use 0.0001 lux sensors and can see hundreds of meters. Handy gadget, but anything with a LCD screen or red IR light will light you up like a Christmas tree. I just have a basic IR monocular with limited range, which is compact but handy. With traditional IR gear you shouldn't expose the lense in strong daylight as it damage the sensors. Check your instructions just in case you should not have it running in daylight.

Good job Dean 👏

WOW! Now you can search for Big Foot at night.

Totally agree 👍👍
Great video, I liked it. I myself started making videos about my adventures, so I'm interested in everything.

Where where did you get the plastic tarp?
And what type of material is the tarp made off? Tia!

Another video idea, plants and other edibles in the wild.
