    Made two hams for my work Thanksgiving lunch two years ago using this recipe, both got absolutely cleaned out to the bone! Smoking another one as we speak for work. Cheers! 🍻

    I found this video a few years ago and then made this ham for Thanksgiving. Now it is a family tradition! My son-in-law always says, "I was never a ham person, but now it is my favorite thing at the holidays!". Thank you for sharing and showing this recipe.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Jeff! Thanks so much for always posting great recipes on the PBC! I'd be lost without your inspiration and instruction. Made this ham today and my son just about ate through the door trying to get to it 🙂. Your videos help to make me a success when BBQ'ing. Thanks so much for always posting and sharing your BBQ.

    You were on with the recipe for the cherry bourbon glaze for the ham I smoked on New Years Day. It looked like you smoked it on the Pit barrel cooker. Thanks for the info on your channel please keep up the good work.
    Thanks Carmen

    Who doesn't love ham right? Loved that glaze. Mom (and almost all homemakers in the 50's & 60's ) use to decorate and season with cloves and pineapple. Really passes along great flavor. The PBC did a great job. That ham was a beauty. I love to carve a ham when it's been a long time since I've had it. Nothing better. Nice job Jeff.

      Actually, when I said I love to carve I was inferring I love to eat while carving when I hadn't had ham in a long time. It's extra good. lol

    Smoked ham looks great Jeff. Reminds me I gotta take a ham outta the freezer now. What was the PBC cooker temperature? I think I've heard your's runs about 275ish? Seems like every time I see one of your bourbon glazes I need to go out and get another bottle of booze. Can't seem to keep any on-hand.

    • @Armadillopepper
      @Armadillopepper  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Random Acts of Cooking Hey Mike, I didn't check the temp. The last couple of times I checked (other cooks) it the temp was around 290.

  • @SeaBrzJo2
    @SeaBrzJo2 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looked delicious, Jeff! I am so frustrated with my PBC at this point, but still love watching others' videos that have so much luck with their PBC. As another Floridian, I am curious if you have adjusted anything from PBC's start up recommendations. I have followed every step exactly (even video'd it), but still cannot get my inside temp less than 360-365F. Did not even measure it until I found out that the YT recipes I was using (like yours) were cooked in less than half the time with not so great results. Anyway, keep turning out your great recipes as I have other outdoor cooking options. Thanks.

    • @Armadillopepper
      @Armadillopepper  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sea BrzJo I did make an adjustment. Mine ran too hot as well. I closed the bottom vent to about half of what they recommend. Also, I only light a very small portion of coals in the beginning.

    Jeff Looks good to me. I like a ham every now and then. Unfortunately, the wife would rather have them later or never. I don't happen to have ANY bourbon (or alcohol, for that matter) on hand. Any suggestions for something non-alcoholic to cut the glaze with? I thought maybe watered-down ginger ale, but you have much more experience with sauces and glazes than I do.

    • @Armadillopepper
      @Armadillopepper  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Suggest apple juice. You could also try the ginger ale.

    • @handcannon1388
      @handcannon1388 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I may try that in the electric smoker with some thick ham steaks. The cook time would probably be more like an hour and a half that way, I would think.

      Hey John, You can substitute, but are you really asking if Tennessee whiskey will be as good as Kentucky Bourbon 😁? Go Kentucky!

      I thought about calling it a double smoked which might have made that more clear. When I was a kid on the farm, we actually sugar cured hams.....too muh work for me.

    Instead of scoring could you inject?

    • @Armadillopepper
      @Armadillopepper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can inject. We have another video where we injected a ham. I still like scoring to get that little bit of that extra caramelized glaze on the outside.
