5:23 i believe that is a pottery piece from Norfolk as back in the day they were big pottery producers and sent them to all over the country
Try using the tape in the inside of the boot. If that don't work use contact cement works like a charm

5:42, swing top pop bottle or a Grolsh bottle stopper. 5:48 is the blade of a screwdriver which has lost the wooden handle. 11:45 looks like a spark plug washer from the days when they were copper.

Think the piece of pottery is a stone wear bottle. Found a unbroken one where I detect looks like it’s the same design.

All jokes aside, your finds are quite All right! Specially those fossils, you can't metal detect that! And the rest of the beach is so full of metal, the detector would be bleeping nonstop. Looks like an old dumpsite.

After storms and really high tides old chap. All at the top, where the bank and grass has fallen down. They stick in the clay 👍🏻

Hi, Katie :) Not in this instance, no. Mostly because it's everywhere in this area, and I can't carry it. I'd prefer to leave that there, rather than kill the little shrimp dudes as well.
What I DO try and pick up is old fishing line, though. That stuff kills everything :'(

Your peepers find old and interesting items whilst many beach detectorists manage £3.54 and a toy car, using a £500 machine! Is it a case of identifying the right beach, optimal conditions, eagle-eyes or just luck?

Ok, it’s a mix of all three. Folkestone was bombed massively in the blitz, and many parts were flattened. They then (including my grandad who was part of the logistics team) just bulldozed all the bombed houses and buildings to the coast when the war was over.
So everything I’m finding is from flattened buildings in WW2.
So that’s location, now comes timing. All this was buried, but due to natural erosion since WW2, storms have been pulling the coast away and bringing out these old finds.
So everytime there’s a storm, the coast gets pulled away a little bit, and more items appear.
So, location, right timing, and lastly - as you say, getting my eye in to be able to see the finds in the first place, and of course a little luck on top of that 👍🏻😁
