  • Original NBC Broadcast of Game 1 of the 1976 World Series from Riverfront Stadium with Joe Garagiola, Tony Kubek and Marty Brennaman a recent restoration and remaster of the original pre recorded VHS tapes i had since the early 90s not the greatest quality exists of the 1976 series unfortunately but did my best to what i have including some frame rate and color corrections and new mixed audio track added in post.
Game 1 starters Doyle Alexander for New York and Don Gullett for Cincinnati
may have some missing pitches and outs but for the most part a complete broadcast. There are other versions of this game on TH-cam but decided to add some of series games on my Phenia Film MLB archival TH-cam page
also includes the MLB 1976 World Series film recorded straight off the VHS commercial tape

I was 9 and my dad just bought me a hot dog. I went over to the dugout and Yogi Berra snatched the hot dog right from my hand. Mustard and ketchup dripped on his Yankees jersey. He only took about 5 bites and the footlong hotdog was gone. It was an honour to have my hotdog stolen from such a prestigious man. True story!

If the Reds don't trade Tony Perez to the Expos, in 1977, they probably would have won the World Series again.

I was born in the Bronx in 1960! I was born a Yankees fan. I was still a Yankees fan after moving to Cincinnati Ohio in 1965. My Uncle George Fisher owned the Staten Island Dry Cleaners in the Bronx, he did both the Yankees and the Mets Uniforms. By 1968, me and my Dad were Cincinnati Reds fans, listening to Joe Nuxul and Gues who? * Al Michaels and we were going to Games at Crosley Field with tickets in the first row along the first base side! My Dad's friend was a Bigg Manager who had season tickets and his two sons who are both Doctors now, let me and my Dad and Brothers go once in a while! I went to a World Series game at Riverfront Stadium in 1975 vs Boston Red Sox. All of my Uncles, Aunts and Cousins are Yankees and Mets Fans. Ironically Don Gullet is a Cousin of one of my Friends. Another friend of mine said that Babe Ruth is a Relative and he played Baseball where Pete Rose grew up in Western Hills, the Mustangs! Johnny Bench had a couple of Nephews that played knothole Baseball with my two younger brothers growing up. I used to catch for the pitcher (Jeff Bench) and Pitch to the Catcher (Tony Bench). I met a Gentleman in Boca Raton Florida, an Author who's Uncle is Shea, Shea Stadium! I used to hang out in Queens with my Aunt near Flushing Meadows and off of Queens Blvd with my Uncle. We went to a free Concert in Central Park on the weekends in 2010. I noticed that all of my friends and relatives have memorabilia and framed photos of the Great Yankees, but right there next to all of em are photos of Pete Rose and Johnny Bench. I used to have a baseball signed Yankees Baseball with both Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle on it. I gave it to my Uncle. It was a 1951, the only year they played together (Mantle's Rookie Year!)

So many people in this game have passed away. Maybe Sparky, Billy Martin and the other deceased players are all playing baseball in the afterlife. This was just so much fun to watch. Someone in the Comissioner's office please, PLEASE bring back daytime baseball in the World Series.

I watched the 1976 WS highlight, and realized Don Gullett's sudden injury in the late innings of Game 1. How would I call it?
"Ok, here is Don Gullett in set position, and here is the pitch--AND DOWN GOES DON! DON IS DOWN! Just like a knockout punch in boxing! Don's hurt bad! Sparky Anderson rushes to the mound as well as the Cincy trainer and pitching coach!"
The color commentator would probably say, "The way he pitched and fell down very lightning quick to the ground probably indicates that he may have ripped his ankle ligament. And he's holding his ankle...bad news for Cincy fans here."
I would respond, "Now if Don faked this injury, this would be a balk on the Big Red Machine - but he's not faking it, and the Reds crowd is stunned in quick silence. Sparky's ordering a relief pitcher immediately - Gullett will not return again to this game. And maybe the rest of the series, as he now exits the mound limping quite a great deal towards the dugout...to a big standing ovation."
