I think JoJo is refusing to see it because it would require admitting her own experiences and traumas, and I just hope that she eventually wakes up and figures it out before there's even more harm done. I've personally gone through my own trauma experiences, and yes I agree completely, it took me YEARS to come to terms with what actually happened. For the longest time, I stayed silent (knowing it was weird) but I had no idea how wrong it was and the help I could've received. at a young age, when you're still developing, learning, and processing things; running into a situation like that, it blurs a lot of lines. It takes a while to retrace and understand that you need to push that person away. Which is hard to do when it's someone you genuinely care about, and feel should be in your life (like a family member)

As a victim of SA I see JoJo as much of a victim as the others who actually faced Colleen's bad side and she was groomed and probably even touched but because her parents don't do anything about it. That’s sad but I can’t say I’m surprised. Young kids and teens who are groomed by older people unfortunately will have the sort of “Stockholm syndrome” of wanting to defend or not say bad things about the people that groomed them, despite what happened to them. A lot of that has to do with the fact that their brains aren’t fully developed, they don’t understand what happened to them, and/or they don’t understand what’s appropriate vs. inappropriate between a young person and an adult. It’s a multi layered thing. Definitely a trauma reaction. So I’m sad that she is defending someone like that, but I can understand where it’s coming from.
I completely agree :( When I was groomed, I didn’t realize I was being groomed from 13-16. I actually defended my groomer when people tried to call him out because I just didn’t understand how inappropriate the situation was. It really is an uncomfortable situation when you find out someone who you were friends with and who had your respect, did something inappropriate. ESPECIALLY when that friend won’t take accountability for what they did. It makes you feel like a bad friend for “not believing” your friend. Jojo needs to realize that the BEST thing you can do for that person is hold them accountable and not take their side. Do not allow them to think that they have your support until they genuinely take accountability and change their behavior. You want your friends to be the best versions of themselves and encourage you to be the best version of yourself in return

Young kids and teens who are groomed by older people unfortunately will have the sort of “Stockholm syndrome” of wanting to defend or not say bad things about the people that groomed them, despite what happened to them. A lot of that has to do with the fact that their brains aren’t fully developed, they don’t understand what happened to them, and/or they don’t understand what’s appropriate vs. inappropriate between a young person and an adult. It’s a multi layered thing. Definitely a trauma reaction. So I’m sad that she is defending someone like that, but I can understand where it’s coming from.

It really is an uncomfortable situation when you find out someone who you were friends with and who had your respect, did something inappropriate. ESPECIALLY when that friend won’t take accountability for what they did. It makes you feel like a bad friend for “not believing” your friend. Jojo needs to realize that the BEST thing you can do for that person is hold them accountable and not take their side. Do not allow them to think that they have your support until they genuinely take accountability and change their behavior.
