SIGHT FISHING for HARD to CATCH TROUT !! 4K

- Another cold, tough day on the river this week with few fish out and even fewer actively feeding. This meant spending a lot of time working the fish we find and having to pull all the tricks out of the bag to be in with a chance of getting an eat, let alone hooking and landing any!
One of those days where you have to work for every fish but when it does come together, it's so rewarding!!

Was Really interesting to see the setup that you’re using on this river! I know this river well I live in Wanaka and drive down weekly to fish it. So much better when everything was locked down 😂😂😂Awesome footage as always
Love Dean in the beginning when you said that fish was eating off the top. "Not helping man" haha, good stuff. Great video, thank you! I just love that brown at the end Deans holding, so beautiful
Great work the two of you! Beautiful place and great fish, what more!
Absolutely wonderful and you are so skilful. I am from Scotland and visited South Island in February 2006 but didn't really 'sight fish" which I can now appreciate is the key to success. I must come again before I die the country is soo beautiful, like Scotland on steroids! I spent 10 glorious days and ended up with 'trench foot' from wading so much. maybe you can give me some pointers to great remote rivers in South Island. I am an experienced hill walker although the 'bush bashing' there is extreme. What a life honestly I could have thrown away my passport and lived the rest of my life in the Bush.

Hi Alex. Just watched “Living my best life”. Congratulations to Mike and you. It is wonderful viewing.
Thanks man, Mike did a great job aye
Always love seeing you and Dean doing what you are best at..and love doing.. keep up the good work 👏
Superb as usual, just great insight into your craft, and watching two guys loving their sport.More of please.cheers Paul.
Perfect way to end the work week. Loved the spring-creek look of that place - thanks for posting!
Thank Alex, always look forward to your posts, thanks for all your work, on the water and the video editing.
Cheers Mike
That was a tough day but your perseverance (and skills) really paid off. You and Dean caught some beautiful browns!!! What a fantastic looking place!!! Keep it up my friend
You know the grind of those tough days all too well aye bro..💪
Another awesome video Alex. River looks nice. Dry year, the contrasts of NZ!
That first chromer was beautiful. What a catch!
Outstanding work Alex! Your edition skills are out of this world. Wish I could have 10% of your talent.
A good imitation of the Fonz. Ayeeeeee!
Top anglers right there, 7 changes, boom!!!
Awesome video man 🙌
Cheers bro💪
Good one Alex ...I know this area and I know how tough it is...but usually quality fish!
cracking video, can't wait to see the next one,,, cheers and tight lines from Ireland 🇮🇪 🎣🎣
Awesome content as always, such an important part of my weekly schedule. Now inspired to go and tie some softies.
Alex, a friend of mine and myself did a float trip on the Lehigh River in PA. Had a very good day. First of all you would thing we were out on a gig river in the western US. We caught lost of fish. I had 5 browns - all wild, a17, 16,15,14 and a 12 inch brown trout. I also lost one that I would have bet was over 20 inches. It just started running and somehow unhooked itself.
My friend had an even better day with 7 or 8 browns and 2 rainbow and a 4 lb small mouth. His largest brown was 18 inches. But what a great day, beautiful sunny day. Maybe a high of 60 degrees. Best day I’ve had on that river. All beautiful fish with a tint of red on the browns. Not NZ but certainly a great day.
First trout did look like a sea trout.super fishing as always lad
Nice! Much different river than most you film, with the farmland/pasture look..
Another goodie Alex, looks like the color water I have fished all summer
Great one Alex, keep'em coming.
Any chance you could bring back the Friday Fillers? At least, maybe, once a month? I can't be the only one who misses them.
Keep up the good work! 👍
I was JUST talking about that this morning and how I need to get my ass back in gear for those
I can't wait! Thank you!
We’ll done Alex. Just saw the video on Mike’s channel. Amazing. Keep it up.
Thanks man, Mike did an amazing job aye
Great vid again. Just wonder: how/when do you know to put extra weight (lead) to your nymphs.
You and Dean are a fun team to watch fishing. I was wondering, is that river more difficult to sight fish for example in that area with the high cut banks and trees? It looks very different than many of the streams I've seen you fish. Also, is blind fishing looked down upon in N.Z.? Thanks for the great videos!
I’m going to try those “sour worms” next fishing trip!
Not trying to hotspot, but is that the same river you caught that monster brown from behind the rock a while back?
No bro, very different part of the country 👍
What brand is that little green fly box? I’ve been looking for something like that. Thanks for the video
I have the exact same one, found it at the dollarstore
@@lastminutejoe I’ll have to go to a dollar store, I guess. Thanks
Got mine in a market in the uk for a pound 😂
It's almost worse when you can see the fish, cause you see it go right over their head or they go up and look at it, and then leave.
Stop poking Dean's backside!
Go the soft hackle you guys must be masters of knot tying loving it 🧩🥸🤓🎣🐑
