    I'm a real estate agent. I carry this flashlight. When you shine a light in a house you can see things, like if a wall has been patched, or painted over water stains on a ceiling. Of course it is the MOST helpful when you are showing homes and it gets dark. Once I was showing a half acre lot for new construction and I turned this on the high setting. The entire lot was visible the onsite agent said whoa I need one of those! It's a seriously useful tool.

      Doesn't hurt that it is heavy enough to hit hard too... I do meet strangers at empty houses for a living 😂

      Agree with you all the way, now put the light on its highest setting up against the wall facing upright (be sure the house is somewhat dark) and you can sometimes see the studs behind the drywall as sometimes the studs are not flushed and protrude a bit causing a shadow on the drywall. Also wait till you have a MF-ing mosquito giving you hell and they love to hide in black/dark areas, with this light they cannot hide even in black/darkened areas.😎👍🏻

    I was looking at this light on streamlight.com today and under the "accessories" tab they do offer a wall plug adapter for the micro usb cord. I ordered the light today, anxious to get it and check it out. Great video, and very informative! Thanks 👍

    I have one of these lights and I love it. The fact that you can use multiple types of batteries was a major selling point for me. In the event of an emergency such as a major earthquake or other disaster you have options to power it. The one thing I would point out is charging from a computer may take longer than seven hours due to the fact that most computer USB ports are limited to 500mA. They come with a wall power adapter and a car adapter to charge the light.

    Silly me just picked up one of these (I have a Protac 1 AA, which is a nice little light but the batteries don't last long and rechargeable CR123s are not recommended) from Galls; I was looking at the 2L-X but they didn't have it in stock.
    Course I'm trying to follow the directions and trying to find that charge port, they weren't completely clear so here I am and found your video.

    Its 2019 and last few years this Pro Tac HL has been shipped with a wall charger. They actually had a recall on the charger a few yers ago but have now overcome the issues. Its a smaller wall wart plug with a dedicated cord attached. It works well as intended! This light works well for vehicle inspections as its very bright. I ditched my two Streamlight stinger DS units a few years ago as it was just too damn bulky for daily belt carry on the job!

    Well, I do like these lights. Good product, good value to me. Portable. I just recently owned a Stylus Pro for work and such. The pinpoint on what i'm trying to see is awesome. But I still keep a D cell Mag in the truck. You know, if stuff really gets outta line. ..you always have a sledge hammer.

    Looks like a really good light . I watched another test done and the guy put in the freezer , ran it over , hit the brakes on the car making the flashlight slide and put in it boiling water and nothing happened .
    The other guy did not test how the light actually works . So I would definitely trust my life on this light .

  • @jfyrfytr25

    its called micro USB. Nothing special about it. Also, USB is a standard. The standard calls for 5v DC power through the cable. No matter if you are plugging up to your computer outlet or to a Wall, you are ONLY getting 5v. Now, what determines the time is the amount of current that is being drawn at a time. Computer ports will charge slower because they can't put out the AMPs like a wall plug can. But it is completely safe to use Wall outlet to charge this. In fact you can use your iPhone charger to charger this. A device will only pull the current it needs. so if this needs 1amp current to charge and you plug it up with a plug that is 5amp, you are not going to blow up the device. it will only pull what it needs.

    Just to compare, think back when the only beam on an led when they came out was 80 lumens. Now thats just a low. It turns night into day.. Good looking light. You can get USB adapters that plug into cigarette lighter receptacles in vehicles and ac adapters for the house. They are all made for the correct voltage (5 volts) for charging phones, kindle Fire tablet, so they should work good for this also.

  • @simonforget280

    This longer charge time is to strictly follow USB standards. All but the newest USB standards mandates for 5V and 500mA to power devices on the bus. Some USB implementations allows quicker charges by augmenting the current to 2.1A. The newest USB standard allow higher voltage and current, as used for the Apple Macbook earlier this year.
    You can use a USB power supply to charge any devices. However, be careful to match the maximum current of your device. Per example, Apple does not recommend to use an iPad power supply with an iPhone, that may cause premature weir of its battery.

    Its a Standard Micro B USB connector, You had a mini to compare
    Micro usb used on common devices, Xbox One Controller, PS4 Controller, Android Devices, etc.
    Mini usb, PS3, Old Android devices, Digital Cameras, Etc
    USB B standard, Your Printer.

  • @jalee6587
    @jalee6587 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a standard micro USB port. Most android phones used micro USB from 2010-2016. It's a standard not proprietary. Androids have now slowly switched to USB type c since 2017. Now nearly all android phones use USB type c. Micro USB is outdated since 2017 and stream light really should have used USB type c to stay up to date.

    Would like to pass on some info. I got this light in June 2017 from Amazon worked fine out of the box. I ran intentionally to kill the battery to test the charge time. What I learned was the battery would not take a charge at all via the computer or wall outlet. Googled to see if anyone else had this issue, they did. It seems if the battery says 'MADE IN CHINA' on the left and 'ASSEMBLED IN CHINA' on the right it won't charge. If it says 'MADE IN JAPAN' on the left and 'ASSEMBLED IN CHINA' it worked fine. I called Streamlight and explained this and said this is the first they heard of it and send the light in for testing. I told them 2 of my friends have the light with the right battery in it and can you just swap the battery, they said no send it in. I chose to exchange it with Amazon and gamble I'd get the proper battery, of course I got the new one same battery. Called customer service again this time they agreed to send the battery, 10 days past no replacement arrived, placed a call this past Friday and was promised they'd send it out, so we wait and see. I love the light and want it to work out, this is my first time dealing with Streamlight customer service so far not impressed.

    How easy is is to engage the "clicky" I hate clickys, I like just momentary and twist tail cap operation like Surefires. Is it pretty firm where i can pretend it has no clicky, or travel pretty short and easy to engage? Do you know of any mods that could remedy this or does Streamlight have any optional tail caps? I've been thinking about getting the Surefire P1R Tactical since its their only rechargeable option.

    Never had one of these types of flashlights. What light would you recommend for walking my two dogs out around the state park at night when it is very dark outside. Usually walk for up to an hour or so. Is the ProTac HL USB the choice or if I wanted one that is comparable but might be a bit smaller and lighter, what would you recommend? Probably would prefer to recharge quicker but that is not most important. Like the option of having the 3 light settings, would not use strobe. What would you suggest? Great video! Thank you!

      +James Twieg Good questions - what's your price range?

    • @jamestwieg4113
      @jamestwieg4113 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EverydayTacticalVids First of all thank you in advance. I am new to these flashlights and am just sick of the cheap LED flashlights that I bought from Home Depot like stores. Price range $25-60 if possible for what I want. Probably 3 light levels is desirable. If just have 2, the low level is likely not bright enough for any general use. Walk 2 Huskies out in the park in the very dark on 20 foot retractable leashes. Also my backyard is 250 feet wide. Walks are about an hour or so, so if could use a medium light setting, battery life would not be an issue. Don't need 700 lumens but more than 300 i think, I am not that sure exactly how bright that is but have looked a handful of videos just recently. Would be nice tho if it was bright enough to see things up to 200 feet away. Batteries? I like idea of some type of rechargeable battery whether the 18650 or CE123 if those come as rechargeables. But standard AA or AAA rechargeables would also work for me. Also, flashlight need not be 6-7 inches long and and an inch or more in diameter. I know I am being vague but I know you are very knowledgeable and your videos are awesome. Thank you. Just wondering what your suggestion might be for $40 or $60. When there are so many options, a novice gets confused. Maybe a suggestion of what brands are durable and I would look at what models are available in each brand.

      Update to 1st reply: Looking at Thorfire V10 updated model. 4 level with memory, 847 lumen max, 5.3 inch x 1 inch, 18650 recharge battery with charger, and extra parts. For discounted price of $35.99 looks very good to me for all purpose home and camping and dog walking etc

    • @jamestwieg4113
      @jamestwieg4113 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Model is a VG10, not a V10, and is the updated version. Available on eBay etc with charger, one Thorfire 3000 Mah battery (not the poor quality generic that are out there), extra parts (O rings, lens, switch, rubber cover for the switch), lanyard and holster for under $40 and has many great reviews. People are extremely pleased with it for its budget price and 800 plus lumens on high setting. Updated model does not have the strobe function and I like that as I did not want strobe; prefer the 4 light levels and memory function. (Light turns on to the last used level.) Perfect!

      +EverydayTacticalVids I am glad that it does use this instead of some "one off" plug of their own making. this is definitely a good thing, as most people are going to already have their micro usb cellphone charger. so if you were to be in a shtf situation this would definitely make it more tactically usable.
