TFtusave IF you let them soak in water over a few hours you can use them to transport cut flowers I belive, the same can be done with wraping a lightly soaked pad(for incontinence or period I dont know IF which one is better) but that isnt what we are talking about, so anyway they can be used to keep things dry or lightly moist but dont use it with food your planning to eat. I wonder IF you soak a LOT of them then put it in bags in the freezer you can probably use them as an alternative to using normal Ice storage for beer cans theory wise it might not unfreeze as fast as normal ice, remember Im just guessing. But a better alternative to ice storage then small ice Cubes is to take a tray for cupcakes and fill with water because the bigger an ice cube is the slower it will melt you can also use emty 500ml plastic bottles(soda,Coke types) fill them with water but save a few cm because ice expands when freezing.
10 surprising and unique uses, including but not limited to keeping things dry, making things waterless, stopping things from being wet, causing things to dry, producing dryness, achieving a dry effect, ending wetness, helping things to dry, curtailing liquid, and preventing things from becoming moist.
Carmenyoohoo Hi Carmen, May I call you Carmen? Carmen, that is hi-freakin-larious. Brilliant. At first I didn't think that you actually got all 10, but I counted, and you were right on. I thought I was funny, but I yield the the floor to the esteemed lady.
Malia Gonzalez one of my friend has a huge jar full of them, she's thinking about then dumping them anywhere in the bathroom like a toilet and see if anyone notices.
Buy them on ebay 10 pcs for about a dollar (or 100 for about 3 dollars) or a kilo of the shit inside for about 30 dollars from China if you don´t have a stack.
yeah basically this video just informs you that there's more stuff you have to keep dry than you thought It should be called "10 Surprising Things You Need To Keep Dry"
These packs lose the ability to absorb after a while a short while if in open air or large space. For these to be effective, place them in a 200° oven for about 30 min. Less for small packs. This dries and reactivates the gel. Do this every so often, depending on amount of exposure to air. And a great use is putting them in open ammunition packages/boxes to preserve your ammo.
Jayamila Persson Once, I opened one of those little packages, took the hard little beads out, and put them in a small container with a few drops of water. I checked back on them after about 4 hours, and nothing had changed.
If you're drying out electronics it helps to wash or spray them with rubbing alcohol. The alcohol will wash away much of the water then evaporate. You may also want to wipe off the electronics afterwards to prevent dirt accumulating when it dries. You can make your own desiccant using a mixture of salt and uncooked rice (both on their own will work but together they're more effective). Wrap it in a paper towel. It may not work as effectively as silica gel but it's environmentally safe and you could eat it (but wouldn't want to). It may give a slightly salty smell. One really good use of a desiccant is to remove the moldy smell from papers, magazines and books. Just put the documents in a zip-lock bag with the desiccant. It may take a number of months to work but you'll find the smell will disappear.
you can use the silica gel inside your computer to keep it from getting dusty... it absorbs the moisture within the system making it harder for dust to stick
When i was a kid i used to always find those in stores and i used to open them and spill them on the ground thinking someone would slip on it or i used to just open them and throw them
I found a phone in local drainage stream (dropped the previous night by an elderly neighbour when he was pulled into the stream by his big labrador). I fished it out, washed it in the sink, took out the battery and left it all to dry on the radiator and after a day or two charged it athough the display was a bit steamy. I dialled the home number and found out who it belonged to! It didn't sound too great but at least he got it back. Want another example? I once left a Russian camera (Zenith B) on the beach and the tide came in. I opened it up, took out the film canister, washed the camera inside and out it in a basin of fresh water to remove sand and salt, then poured methylated spirit (neat alcohol) into it several times to remove water. Dried out from alcohol it still worked! Film was wasted though. Camera was very grindy so I gave it away. :-)
So if anyone has throat issues and sneezes due to their hip being shifted or a bad massage, causing lung issues and breathing throat complications, when you have trouble breathing or your choking try putting one of those silica gel things from every vitamin container on that area of the throat, it really seems to work and calm things down.....I suspect this could help some with asthma too, of course depending of the severity , but for me this really does help.
lol, what's supposed to be surprising about using a dessicant as a dessicant? for something interresting: you can (and have to) re-dry silicagel in the oven at 120°C, if you wanna kepe using it. it becomes saturated - the water doesnt just magically disappear. the cheapest source for silicagel is silica based cat litter, which is coarse silicagel. and you can also use it to remove water along with water soluable impurities from comtaminated solvents, oils or liquid fuels.
Excellent video. I KNEW there was a good reason to keep these. Would NEVER guess these uses, Eg.,. photos, pet food, carved pumpkins, flowers ? Nobody would just "figure out" these uses", and sometimes it's a "few grains" or "packets taped inside"
yeah, I was wondering how they expect the average lay person to get silica gel into the gas filled space between the dual panes, which obviously have a breached seal if they are filling with condensation. Am I missing something here?
Michelle W Nope, you are 100% correct. Double pained glass should NEVER have condensation build up. If they do, you need to replace the glass because, like you thought, there's a breach in the seal somewhere. Not fixable with silica packs lol
You can also use them to keep real silverware from tarnishing. I keep several in the box with mine. They only need a quick wipe before use. As opposed to spending hours the day before polishing them.
Or here's another one: If your clothes dryer is broke, just throw a f*ckload of silica gel packets in with your wet laundry. It will be dried out in no time!
when i was a kid i thought that it helps prevent rats from breaking/ biting my shoes because when i buy new shoes its always there. i never knew there were lots of uses.
For long term critical+sealed storage use silica gel packages in conjunction with anti-oxidant packages. I save the latter from beefy jerky, but you find them in many dry food items. The finely ground iron dust inside absorbs oxygen. Doesn't work if typical ziplock bags are used, they transmit oxygen fairly easily through their polyethylene structure. Sealed = metal or metallized containers, o-ring sealed or threaded heavy plastics or glass.
Idk Ye it will absorb water from your body, worst case is that a bit of jell will stay in one place too long and dry out the lining in your digestive tract and cause scarring
I like how in the thumbnail the "Do not eat" part is in quotation marks like the employee was like "My boss says I legally have to print this on the bag but I strongly disagree"
Although some of those uses were pretty cool, I was expecting a LOT more!! I expected uses that didn't have anything to do with absorbing moisture. Not 1 use on here was about using it in a different way.
He is talking about older style storm windows. Newer houses don't have them due to the windows being double paned and insulated. Storm windows were put in before the days of the insulated window. I just think the author dosent know what he is talking about there. He showed an argon sealed window of which there is no cure aside from re sealing and re gassing... =/ . Storm windows are open to the outside elements at the "Drip ports" a 1/4 inch opening on each side of the seal. This lets in a small amout of outside air.. and Unless you can control the weather you are not going to control the humidity within said air..Silica will not do a thing for a window that is essentially in the elements as it will be saturated with moisture within hours and rendered useless...
80+ years old w wooden framed single paned window on inside, then screen, then storm. 2inch gap between inside/storm glass, loose fit and drafts make packets useless. Everything can be slid up and down, cept on humid days must hit em cause they stick. And the heavy wooden frames are tied to ropes that enter the wall w a pulley leading to a hanging fucking counter weight. On 3 windows the ropes on a single side have frayed and snapped...like in an indiana jones movie...so they hang slighty crooked and be opend to any level. And one glass isnt smooth theres a thick line down the side you can see and feel. And moulding around the ceiling is cracked meaning it is not wood but plaster. And the doors all different sizes...why? Who knows. And im looking at a real, physical door bell mounted on the wall w TUBULAR bells...fucking neat and the dog loves it when rung...but the front button has been painted over so only the back one works. Which is fine, one sees front cause its tucked under small awning.....why? Who knows. And the wooden floor has 4 sections, vertical boards, horizonal in middle, vertical again, w parquet in corner...why? Who knows. Last few staircase steps turn slightly more than 90 degrees...why? Who knows. And a cast iron claw leg bath tub w bird or dragon toes wrappped around a ball. And a cast iron radiator has a tiny steam leak started a day or two ago. Gotta love the character and tolerate the maintenance.... K rant over........
Other than older style flip phones, does anyone still have a that they can actually remove the battery? I think most of the newer phones have the batteries built in now. I'm guessing it has something to do with probably something to do with proper/improper disposal of the batteries?

+unnamed715 but what if u touchs them then some of the like u know whn u eat cheese ships some cheese will be there so im tring to say what if some of that particular was still in ur fingers and then u eat something with ur hands will it still kill u?
I by the way, you can use wax to keep your pumpkin from molding. Just get some canning wax (grocery store), and heat in a pan, then pour the melted wax in your pumpkin, swirl it all around the pumpkin. carve your pumpkin, then use a paint brush to put the wax where you carved the pumpkin, and also dip the top (Or lid) of the pumpkin in the melted wax, that will keep the lid from molding as well.
If you get your phone wet, sure the gel will get rid of the water, but it won't fix the corrosion that has already happened on the circuit board, the best bet for saving a water logged phone is to remove the battery asap and take it apart down to the circuit board and clean it with rubbing alcohol and a clean toothbrush. even then you will most likely need a new screen and more than likely new speaker if the corrosion hasn't eaten away anything important.
No, the 2nd one, when you drop your phone in water, all you have to do is.. 1. Get a large Ziplock Bag or any Container 2. Fill it with rice, make sure it's the kind Asians eat. 3. Let it sit on your table for the night and Asians will come and fix it for you
the silca packets do stop working after some time. To keep the packets working just stick them in the microwave for about 30 seconds and it dries the packets out making them useful again.
good to store your high carbon steel knifes with. A light coat of oil on the metal then store in a box ,out side of the sheath, tossing several silicone gel packs. helps hold off rust.
3:16 that's a double glazed window. that perforated metal rail in between the pains ALREADY IS full of silica grains that's WHY it's perforated! if you opened it up to put silica inside all you've done is ruin your double glazing.
I had no idea what they were my mom just told me they were poison so I used to throw them as soon I see them 😐😐😯
bakar billionaire hahaha me too ... was even afraid of touching them
+Odi “Didi” Mphago same haha
Me to lmao
bakar billionaire wow same lol

it is just one use...absorbing water
true lol , bored video
TFtusave He should put some in his mouth and dry it up so he can stop talking.
You crazy ass emo niggas this is why you don't need youtube, and your other two y'all don't have to watch his videos

Carmenyoohoo
Oh no, Carmen. +Nisarg Joshi posted a list a couple of hours before you did. His is good too, but yours is definitely more thorough.
Well done! Thanks for the smirk this gave me!
Wayne Hersel I didn't think even for a moment that I was being original, but I decided to go for it anyway. It was fun, so why not.
kez kezooie You're incredibly welcome, sir or madam!
We get it, it dries shit out
Ayiana loves hobbit hair and nerds ^
I was thinking the same thing lol
The Question Is Who Just Casually Has A Stack Of These At Home??
Malia Gonzalez No the question is why can't you fucking type properly?
Malia Gonzalez one of my friend has a huge jar full of them, she's thinking about then dumping them anywhere in the bathroom like a toilet and see if anyone notices.
Malia Gonzalez i have half a box of them
Malia Gonzalez i have alot at home
Buy them on ebay 10 pcs for about a dollar (or 100 for about 3 dollars) or a kilo of the shit inside for about 30 dollars from China if you don´t have a stack.
So basically just put silica gel in everything u wanna dry
Mihir Gupte u just made a 5min video into 11 words. Awesome🖒
Reese Elliott lol
yeah basically this video just informs you that there's more stuff you have to keep dry than you thought
It should be called "10 Surprising Things You Need To Keep Dry"
Mihir Gupte can i use them for my dick???
+Reese Elliott awesome
#11 Use silica packets to dry out your "herbs" if they are too moist/sticky.

Wow. I can keep things dry with some stuff meant to keep things dry? Thanks Facts Verse!
lol
Kirisu Guroundosu lol I wonder IF u cant use wet silican gel pearl for transporting cut flowers
Jayamila Persson Once, I opened one of those little packages, took the hard little beads out, and put them in a small container with a few drops of water.
I checked back on them after about 4 hours, and nothing had changed.

Some people might not have thought of that idea

so is there any other use for silica gel other than soaking up moisture because all he did was suggest different things they can protect...
spac3m0nkey silica gel is supposed to keep stuff dry...
Pey&Tid Tabor yeah? All he did was suggest different things to keep dry. Not really surprising or different...
you can use the silica gel inside your computer to keep it from getting dusty... it absorbs the moisture within the system making it harder for dust to stick
Jason Sezno what's that silica gel absorbs moisture? Well I did not know that! Thanks for sharing.
as a kid, I used to find these in my shoe boxes and thought it was salt
Not really "10 uses"; more like 1 use for 10 wet items.
When i was a kid i used to always find those in stores and i used to open them and spill them on the ground thinking someone would slip on it or i used to just open them and throw them
Daniel Herrera ha ha
Daniel Herrera same tho
same here
same ahaha
Daniel Herrera It's nice to know I wasn't the only bratty child
I usually get this when I purchase a new shoes.
I would have never thought of using a desiccate to desiccate things .... BRILLIANT !
Also if you tired of your baby drooling all the time, have your baby eat them
DragonFruitCat lol
DragonFruitCat omg
They'll stop drooling..as well as breathing 😂
DragonFruitCat that's the darkest youtube comment i've ever seen
its..not even poison
instead of drying everything with silica gel, just use your humor. Just as dry
The Truth Teller baa-Dum-Tsss!
BRICKCITY9MM I once made a joke about tampon,
it sucked.
The Truth Teller
Sorry pressed he comment button
BRICKCITY9MM you took it too damn far man, where's your chill 😂😂
that phone tip is useless... nowadays phones aren't like those..
iHanxD Gaming no your useless
ACE T KILLER lol wat
were useless
Red bean You'r grammar is useless.
Oh wow there's a lot of great uses for Silica Gel. I will start to save these more often. Thank you for this info.
or put your phone on a bowl of rice
silica works better and faster
Does it work with a galaxy s6 cause he said take the battery and whatever out and you can't take the phone apart
Rice is usually easier to find/get and typically more plentiful as well.
And you can eat it still lol
add water and chicken stock oil wallah
I found a phone in local drainage stream (dropped the previous night by an elderly neighbour when he was pulled into the stream by his big labrador). basically 10 things u can dry with silica packets
I am not surprised that you can use them as a desiccant. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome secret!
so basically there's only one not surprising use of silica gel that it to absorb moisture
I really love the succinctness of "Subscribe for more".
1:00 Uncooked rice works too, and it is a lot easier and cheaper to get.
Me and my brothers open the packets, but them in a dish of water, wait a bit and BOOM! Instant fun!
The buttery toster what?🤔🙄😐
Amalia Palacios They are basically orbees
lol, what's supposed to be surprising about using a dessicant as a dessicant?
for something interresting: you can (and have to) re-dry silicagel in the oven at 120°C, if you wanna kepe using it. it becomes saturated - the water doesnt just magically disappear. the cheapest source for silicagel is silica based cat litter, which is coarse silicagel. and you can also use it to remove water along with water soluable impurities from comtaminated solvents, oils or liquid fuels.
Well now I know. I would always say "Y is this in here?!"
Excellent video. I KNEW there was a good reason to keep these. Would NEVER guess these uses, Eg.,. photos, pet food, carved pumpkins, flowers ? Nobody would just "figure out" these uses", and sometimes it's a "few grains" or "packets taped inside"
if condensation is building up between your window panes your problems are bigger than a silica gel fix.
yeah, I was wondering how they expect the average lay person to get silica gel into the gas filled space between the dual panes, which obviously have a breached seal if they are filling with condensation.
I bet if you put a bunch of silica bead packs in your airline luggage, it's getting searched.
he said "theres nothing worse than dropping your cellphone in water".....and I was like I dropped my phone in my cereal.....😂
BRICKCITY9MM look at yourself
BRICKCITY9MM good one but I don't got kids
Soledaddy what is happening, Jesus.
BRICKCITY9MM who your mom?
Fuck boiiii, shit just got real.
Been waited for someone to post this.
to summarise all the 10 points: put it in a container with silica gel.
Or you could put the packets in shoes when you finish wearing them to absorb the sweat and moisture to keep shoes from smelling bad
Is silca gel sorta like orbeez?
when i was a kid i thought that it helps prevent rats from breaking/ biting my shoes because when i buy new shoes its always there. i never knew there were lots of uses.
If you wash your pumpkin, inside and out with half water half bleach mixture, then rinse it quickly, it can keep mold off it for almost four weeks.

Excellent! I am never throwing away another silica gel pack again!
yeah who knew these were good for moisture... was expecting actual other uses.
Rice works just as great on a wet phone or Bluetooth - I know because I used it to dry mine and it worked just fine.
Oh fck. I use to open and eat them and put them up my nose and try to swallow them.
Toilet Paper uh oh
same
Me too
Same here lol
Toilet Paper same
I like how in the thumbnail the "Do not eat" part is in quotation marks like the employee was like "My boss says I legally have to print this on the bag but I strongly disagree"
Basicly it keeps the Moisture out, Saved you 5 Minutes thank me later.
Thanks for the valuable information.
Although some of those uses were pretty cool, I was expecting a LOT more!! I expected uses that didn't have anything to do with absorbing moisture. Not 1 use on here was about using it in a different way.
Definitely some great tips, thanks!! ✌❤
how can you put a packet between a double pane of glass to avoid fogging ? the window units are sealed

I use silica gel packets for my ammo cases to keep moisture out of my ammunition
I use rice to soak up the water from my phone after dropping it in water it does the same thing
Brooke Macri same..
BLAxx shoX and u can eat my It
When I was little when I used to find these stuff in stores I would open them and drop them for no reason and walk away like nothing happened
I eat silica gel before nothing happened
antonio garibay ate**
+SugarSweet MSP ...
antonio garibay you're one in a million
yeah I used to them a lot
The side effects of eating silica gel is poor grammar.
thankyou for preventing me from wasteing my time
so the surprising things to use a moisture absorbing product is ......wait for it.........ABSORB MOISTURE!
So do you keep them closed or do you open it?
1 Surprising Use Of Silica Gel You Obviously Know: It can be used to dry things!
Video duration: 3 seconds
I found this in my violin case when I got my first violin
when i hear the word windows : Windows XP Startup Sound
windows has crashed
i keep laughing at windows xp vines for some reason XD
keep "superglue" from hardning in the bottle take a jar put loose beads in jar and put the bottles of glue in
M8 you realise all of these are just keeping something dry
You could also crush it up and use the powder to dry up bugs
I'll start saving sillica gel packets like i save McDonald's ketchup satchets
They only last for 6 months. After that your stash will begin to become noticably musty.
nice..... I simply used to throw the silica gel packet thinking it to be harmful..... as I didn't know the use of it
question 1 where can i get silica gel
Lucifer Ujjwal um seeweed packets uhh idk
Lucifer Ujjwal um if u eat beef jerky just grab the packet out
Lucifer Ujjwal Shoe boxes
Other than older style flip phones, does anyone still have a that they can actually remove the battery? I think most of the newer phones have the batteries built in now. I'm guessing it has something to do with probably something to do with proper/improper disposal of the batteries?
*me at 8* I'm gonna get a good night sleep *me at midnight* watching this
Every time I open a shoe box, and i see one, i would always open them, and make a mess 😂
wait so you pour them out the packet or leave them in
Lina Patton, leave them in the packet when he says Silica Gel Packet, but use the innards when he says Silica Gel bead.
The point is to leave them in so when they hit they explode acting similar to shrapnel.
I like to put the gel packets in my gun cabinet to prevent rust and to keep the powder dry.
if you couldn't find silica gel use teabags
I didn't understand how to roll the silica gel in the bin lining to store pet food.
Should the silica gel packet come in direct contact with the pet food?
Cover the underside of the container lid with silica gel then tape it.
Doesn't matter if the paper/felt packet contacts the food, though it may get oily from the food. Just don't contact the actual silica with the food, to keep the food safe.
Surprising uses of silica gel: you can keep things dry with it!
Noooooooo, really?! I thought they were meant to sweeten your coffee! -.-

Hi…thanks so much for the Tipp!….. since silica gel will absorb the moisture, when do you know when it’s time to change the bag of silica gel for a new one? Also, I would like to ask kindly if you can dry the used silica gel bags to reuse the again?
really? this video should be called Silica gel removes moisture here are some examples.
IAM ChickenSalad much easier and less click-baity than the current title. You should honestly be allowed to change the title lmao imo

a few silica pellets *shows a crap ton of them* Yes. I definitely have unlimited silica pellets just laying around everywhere
You should rename this video to 10 things(out of everything) that you can keep dry with silica.
silica gel can be chopped up and snorted for a head cold. It dries up a runny nose.
cleo HAHAHAHAHAHWHAHAHA
my mum always say this is poisnes is this really true?
OneDeadeyeGt my mum says that to
OneDeadeyeGt yes dude they are poisonous. but handle them properly
They're only poisonous if you eat them, so just don't eat them. Simple. :P
+unnamed715 but what if u touchs them then some of the like u know whn u eat cheese ships some cheese will be there so im tring to say what if some of that particular was still in ur fingers and then u eat something with ur hands will it still kill u?
OneDeadeyeGt Highly doubt the residue, if any, left behind would be enough to kill you. Though don't quote me on that. :P
*that is O by the way.......
that's really nice but WE'RE DO YOU GET THE PACKS
No Pituitary and a poor working Hypothalamus they come with some things.
You'll usually find one or two in a new purse, backpack, wallet, etc.
1. Get a large Ziplock Bag or any Container
2. Fill it with rice, make sure it's the kind Asians eat.
3. Let it sit on your table for the night and Asians will come and fix it for you
James Lin um...
James Lin Dude your so racist go fuck yourself
Thomas the dank train You have "dank" in your name, i think you should be able to handle a joke.
KauBïf well James Lin shouldn't joke about racism, a lot of people sadly think that way.
classic
the silca packets do stop working after some time. To keep the packets working just stick them in the microwave for about 30 seconds and it dries the packets out making them useful again.
I am the only one using it as mini marble for mini fish tanks?
+Jace Beleren W- What?
good to store your high carbon steel knifes with. A light coat of oil on the metal then store in a box ,out side of the sheath, tossing several silicone gel packs. helps hold off rust.
Number 11.
Suicide.
MuffieAnimations Lol
A-Ryan doesn't work I used to eat them when I was little
Golden Titan 0.o really
A-Ryan I was thinking about murder.
It just dries out your mouth...
3:16 that's a double glazed window. that perforated metal rail in between the pains ALREADY IS full of silica grains that's WHY it's perforated! if you opened it up to put silica inside all you've done is ruin your double glazing.
Bro it would be much easier to say "use silica gel for anything you want dry" and save 10 minutes
5 minutes
If you grind up silica gel and snort it, you will never catch a cold.
