Honestly it is great that you confessed to your beliefs changing. I feel like having a paradigm shift in the middle of your practice is not talked about enough and sometimes even shamed online. It is often expected to have your label, whether it be an occultist, witch, or whatever and stick exactly to what you believe from the start. We should normalize talking about it more!
I love that you've moved onto the "fuck around" phase of your practice. That's more who I am naturally, and it's true that so much in history and culture contradicts with each other. Just be respectful, and have fun. Witchcraft and paganism is supposed to be fun!
I would love to see a conversation about deity work for low energy/disabled/chronically ill (etc.) people. I feel that so often we see deity work represented as a very dedicated, high energy, high effort, every day thing. I know at least for myself I don't have enough spoons to do intense worship/work everyday. But that sometimes leaves me feeling guilty/less than when I see the "standard" is something so intense. I would love to here from other low energy people how they worship/practice!
i have depression and adhd so im definitely right there with you. tbh the most common thing i do is light a candle when i remember and have the energy to get up and do it, and i just keep it nearby while i do other stuff, as if im just inviting my deity to hang out. other times ill just kinda talk to him, similar to a prayer but not necessarily. i worship hades so sometimes ill dedicate a nap, my black tea if im feeling fancy, or a guided meditation (which usually turns into a nap lol). think about some of the things you do everyday and see if you can find one to dedicate to whoever you worship. youre definitely not less than for not having the energy or motivation. the divine will always understand and respect your boundaries. if you can only give them one offering a month at best, they wont be upset. youre doing your best (even if you dont think so sometimes) and thats what matters. im not an expert but if you want some ideas or help, ill see what i can do :) hope i could help
Alternative title: “Frankie stops giving a shit” Frankie I really loved this video! Thank you for this cause it was HILARIOUS and I laughed so hard at this. I’m glad you offered a different perspectives. I just started deity worship after being in my practice for a couple of years now. This made me feel comfortable and change perspective from a while ago. I think a lot of us fell for the witchtok sticky aura that latched onto us. I will make this note for the comments. When you want to start deity work/worship, set boundaries for yourself. If you can’t work/worship 5 deities, don’t do it. Do not stress yourself out and juggle too much at once. Always take care of yourself and divine beings will always be understanding and adjust to your needs. ❤️
As someone who works with two deities who according to the mythos have major beef I love this… fuck around and find out. Found out they don’t really care that much (or at least don’t anymore) work with whoever you want within spaces you’re allowed
So from my understanding, the original video has very witchtok vibes while this one is much more honest and true to yourself. It so nice to see one of the few witch creators I follow develop and see their content develop with them. ❤
I've seen a video about protection during deity work really summed up what I believe , for example if I call upon Diana she will listen and she is the protection, and if I non deity spirt appeared, then Diana wouldn't be happy that an spirt is pretending to be her . Plus the power level is nowhere near close so I don't think it could be mistaken ( like you said)
I just LOVE how Frankie show that they had changed, and show how they dont relate to many of the things that they believed before, they r literally showing us in practice that our practices will surely change, and that there's no problem with it, Frankie, if ur reading this, ty, ur a BIG inspiration for us ❤️
@@theeagoat9992 youtube showed me parts of some comments from other videos i watched before attached to your comment therefore i thought you speak german and watched the same things. 🙈
Thank you! I felt an urge to reach out to Lucifer despite being Catholic, and God gave me the ok to work with him, and he seems to like me! I’m doing more research on him and he’s different than I thought! He is very kind and honest and I am excited to see myself change.
I had a very strong urge to respond to this, but that is genuinely so cool. My relationship with Christianity & catholicism is very strained and I feel like this comment alone healed that a little bit
i am so so happy to see you revisit this !!! i'm VERY glad that you've revised the idea that working with deities is an "intermediate/advanced" practice; it's one of a few things you've said in the past that i disagree with pretty strongly, for pretty much the exact reasons you list here !!!! we love an icon who grows and changes their opinions in light of new insight and maturity!!!!
Lol so I started witchcraft October of 2020 and watched this video because I wanted to work with Loki in like, that December, and I got so freaked out that I could've been communicating with a trickster lol. I asked a lokean group their thoughts and they were like "of course you're communicating with a trickster. he's the trickster god you dork!" just reminiscing now that I do consider myself quite a bit more experienced lol (obviously I am still pretty beginner, but at least now I know all of the basics and have a good footing in a few areas of interest!)
Want to mention that I began binge watching "witchy" videos a bit more than a year ago, and can say, what I did gain, was a sense of relief, learning about other people's positive experiences helped to undo the toxic religious conditioning I struggled with most of my life, so, in this context, all of your videos, older and newer have been quite helpful, thank you auntie🥰
I think old you fell victim to witchtok mentality at the time you made that og vid. There was a lot going around at the time saying don't do deity work if you're new.
That's genuinely what I was thinking. I know that there were a lot of new witches & pagans doing deity work and doing it in a way that elders/older witches and pagans interpreted as disrespectful or harmful, and due to that there was a push back that it wasn't for beginners. I definitely understand my mentality at the time - but I've been able to pull away from that and form my own UPG!
i've gone back and forth between wanting to work with deities and not, and one of the main reasons i'm hesitant is because i don't like the idea of doing things "seriously," as in praying every day, big altars, tons of offering. so when you talked about it being more casual for you now, it really encouraged me to maybe give it a shot :)
LOL on respecting your deities, my friend's grandma used to grab a tissue or towel in her hand when she lost something and run around the house saying it was a saint's balls, threatening to keep them clenched until she found the item. seemed effective, but would probably leave a newer practitioner a little confused. good advice in this video, love it!
I know the old deity work video wasn't the best, but when I first watched it I had the mindset of "I'll take what I can from this and figure it out on my own". I think it did help me in my current journey and i greatly appreciate these newer vids from you Frankie!
that original video freaked me out about deity work so i'm so glad you made this. I'm a pagan who doesn't do much witchcraft, and focuses mainly on the gods. I've been feeling Hecate with me since I was a kid, but I've been too scared to work with her.
This has big "reading my high school journal" cringe vibes 😂 I definitely agree with everything you said here, do research etc. I've moved in the opposite direction from witch to full pagan because I've found it much more effective to have them help than trying to do my own work (I guess I'm lazy). But also there's a lot of "this is my food offering today and it's a kitkat or it's something maybe not historically approved of and you can have it or leave it but that's all you get" and honestly even if they don't want it the act of offering is an offering. Also UPG but they haven't left because of something I did "wrong". There's so much fear mongering over deity work but it's been the best thing I've done and I wish I had found it a decade ago.
two things that alway throw me for a loop when talking about deity work: -the "imposter deity" thing feels incredibly christian, not going to lie. I've seen a plethora of creators who work with Greek deities warning people about "vetting" the entity you're talking to, but then again, what kind of entity would be powerful enough to impersonate a deity in the first place? I found nothing about that while reading primary sources, so I assume it just never happened. (I feel the need to plug @Fel the Blithe , she makes great content and touched on the subject in her protection video); -really? we're going to keep pretending Aphrodite and Persephone loathe each other? and for what, lusting over the same guy once? that's a bold statement to make, considering how they barely appear together in myths. finally, as a personal note: both Aphrodite and Persephone tend to be a little passive aggressive towards me, especially in readings, so I'm sure joking at a deity's expense every once in a while is not a crime :P
Thank you for this video Frankie!!! I always thought I had to eventually focus my practice to deity work, so thank you for being gracious enough to look back on your old videos and being able to correct what you’ve said.
Video idea, a bit more indepth video on reading tarot, I'm having a hard time learning, and the videos I see never really help and your videos are always the most helpful. Have a great day!!🤗
I would like you to do an experiment for me so grab your tarot deck when you get a chance. It doesn't matter which one it is for now but the RWS is preferable for later. Now, take the Temperance card out, and read the little white booklet for a minute on the keywords for Temperance. It says that Temperance is about accommodation, economy, control, and moderation; correct? Now, pick out any one of the four Kings of your choosing. What do you think of when you think of a King in general? That's right; accommodation, economy, control, and moderation. Why, though, are the Temperance and the King cards related in this way? Because of the number of the card. Numerology. Find the Magician now as we shall go a little more in depth here. This will prove most useful if you have an RWS as said before so you can follow along. The number 1 (i.e. I), is the representative number of the male parts specifically in numerology. It doesn't mean that the card itself is speaking towards strictly male physicality. But it is hinting at the mental characteristics in the least of a person if the reading happens to go in that direction. Odd numbers in general are masculine in nature and even numbers in general are feminine in nature. So keep that in mind. The baton the Magician holds in his right hand means masculinity and is a symbol of authority, and again, hearkening back the 1 on the card. Both flowers in the card, roses and lilies, mean fertility. The red of the rose, and the white of the lily, love and purity. The rose itself, speaks to all of life, death, and rebirth; reincarnation and transformation, the same as the Death card. Speaking of the Death card, is the sun setting or rising? Only you can decide that during a reading. But in truth it echoes of harmony and balance just as roses do. This is due to the beauty of a rose but also the thorns on its stem and also how flowers bloom and then fade. The green of the budding leaves on the flowers are touching back to fertility and creation. All that yellow in the background, spirituality, warmth, and rejuvenation; and speaking of rejuvenation, once more hearkening back to reincarnation and transformation, hitting again on the life, death, and rebirth aspect of the number 1. The infinite symbol, means endless possibilities just as all four element symbols do on the table, again hearkening back to what was said last; creation, destruction, and transformation. From here, we jump to the High Priestess. The number 2 (i.e. II) represents the walls of the female parts. Have a look at the moon on her head and also on the ground before her. Once more, the cycles of femininity from month to month and fertility. The horns on each side of the moon on her head also mean fertility. They also, along with the pillars, are in pairs just like the number 2 is a pair of 1's. Moreover, see how the High Priestess is clothed mostly from head to toe? The secrecy and mystery of the feminine cycles. This also hints to the fact the art in the cards of the tarot hold a secret and a mystery, that not everything appears to be exactly as it looks to be at first glance. In fact, that jungle behind her is actually a curtain of pomegranates hung between the pillars, and pomegranates also mean feminine fertility. And also you're not standing outside the temple, you're standing inside the temple. I could go more in "depth" here but I'll leave it at that. By looking to each side of the curtain of pomegranates, you shall see water in the lower portion and sky in the higher portion with a thin line of land in the center, behind the curtain. Again, we see the number 2 showing itself here, being as you can see the card in two ways; and once more, harmony and balance, and the illusion of thinking that things are just strictly one way all the time. But more often than not there's two or more aspects to everything. And people get their boxers and panties in a bunch over whether a card is masculine or feminine because supposedly it's not "inclusive" when in reality it is inclusive and way ahead of their time lol. We also see once more the cycles of life, death, and rebirth through the pillars; moving from one point to another. You shall see pillars in the Death card as well, which means what for Queens, if two pillars also mean the female parts? The "book" she holds, means educating oneself, but also communication just as the pillars do. She sits on a foundation of stability and strength just as the pillars mean those things. The black color of the left pillar is the color of things hidden and the unknown, but also, the color black is all accepting for it's all colors and not just a single color; and again, we see harmony and balance. The other pillar on the right is supposed to be of a whitish color, representing purity and innocence, but also narcissism because white is actually not a single color at all and accepts nothing but itself; and again, we see harmony and balance. Each together are her "batons" if you will, representing her authority, just as the Magician has authority. The water in the card represents cleansing, but also torrents. The air/sky represents logic, but also understanding. The blue in the card represents just as yellow does spirituality, but also it represents intuitiveness, emotion, psychic abilities, and dreamscapes such as visions and illusions just as the moon can also mean those very things. Water and fire can both be intuitive elements but each in their own ways for both of them are the emotional elements and the elements of psychic abilities, visions, and illusions, which means that both the sun and the moon are capable of the same things, but the sun for example creates illusions through mirages whereas the moon creates illusions through looking like an egg on the surface of still water or appearing as if it's not there during a dark moon phase. A scary thought only at first when studying the tarot, is that every single one of the cards in the tarot, could mean death and not just the Death card or the 10 of Swords for examples; but also, each card in the tarot can mean life and rebirth. Take the Empress for example, the next card after the Magician and the High Priestess. The water flowing in the background meaning the passage of time just as the sun and the moon do in the High Priestess and the Death card, as well as the flowing water with a ship on the surface of the river in the Death card meaning to travel from one place to another, and moreover the "As above, so below; and as below, so above" stance in the Magician representing the passage of time too and transferring from one place to another. Anything that I have described so far can be translated into any other card in the tarot. Mountains mean obstacles and challenges. Cliffs, opportunities. Stars, guidance. This is because the symbolism is used throughout the entirety of the tarot with a few things here and there that are not seen in any other card except in one or two. Like the 10 of Cups has a rainbow and means peace and serenity and promises. And what's really going to cook your noodle later on after having read all of this, and anyone else for that matter, is notice I have described both what many would consider to be "positive" and "negative" aspects of the example cards above. Yet, the cards as described, are all right side up in my description of them. This now makes you wonder, along with anyone else who reads this, is if it actually matters whether the card is right side up or upside down in a reading. What many fail to realize, is the "reverse meaning" as many have called it, is ever present at all times. It matters not whether a card is right side up or upside down. A rose is still a rose no matter which way it's facing. So then, how does one know which the card represents during a reading? First, you must come to terms with, you're not some omnipresent all knowing deity. And second, and more importantly, you name off the meanings of the card you're reading and allow the person you're reading for to tell you what resonates with them rather than forcing something on them. And then you focus on that/those things that have resonated with them and go from there. Other things may come up during the conversation of the reading. And if they do then you focus in on those things as well. You're not just reading the card/s, you're reading the person too, and that's an important lesson to learn. Third, notice how much I myself pulled from just a single card when describing them, and now you must ask the question of how many cards you really think you need in a reading. For example, if I were to only do a one card reading and the High Priestess, for example, was the card to show its face for the reading, look at how large that reading is just off of what I have already described of the card above. That's an in depth reading, if I do say so, myself. And that was done with just one card. I'm not trying to boast, though I do like toast lol. But what I'm really trying to teach you and others here is to keep things simple, focusing in one card and only using one card for a reading, and go with the flow. By going with one card you don't overwhelm yourself. Focusing in on what resonates with the person you're reading for it allows the reading to fit to the person rather than putting them in a box. And going with the flow allows you to be intuitive and responsive to each subject as they come up in a reading. I hope that anything I have shared here is helpful with those who read it. Yes, it's long, but worth a ton in the long run. I've learned much of what I know, and must give credit where credit is due, from both Vincent Pitisci and TarotOracle. Both of them can be found here on TH-cam. And I hope what not only what I have shared here is helpful, but also by mentioning them, people will find their expertise and knowledge to be helpful as well. I hope they serve just as much of a launching pad for you all as they did me.
13:20 i just imagined freyja doing literally anything and you going "for fuck sakes..." and that was the entire interaction where young frankie thought shit was donezo :") which look, valid, but its fun that we can laugh about it and learn together!! i loved this video sm, i adore how down to earth you are and how transparent you are about your past perspectives and beliefs - i've watched you for coming up to a good two yrs now and honestly, its been cool to watch you grow like this and i think this video was almost this sort of peak of "they're really just their own lil fella now huh (/pos, fond)" and i love that thank you for the content and the laughs, this was great! 🥰
Thank you for the snack break!! Reminded me that I havent had real food all day 😂 I'm a big fan of this series. It promotes being okay with saying "I was wrong" and thats not really something folx online are okay with, for some reason 🤔 Always a delight to watch you, Frankie!!
20:16 Ive always had the same mindset towards "respectfully" treating deities/spirits that I work with as my own ancestors (respect in quotes because to some extent thats subjective) its all in love, good intention, and respect as far as I know, but I will show up in my hoodie, swearing with a blunt hanging out my mouth because they KNOW thats me! 🤣 My gods work with me, they chose me for some reason, my well ancestors are family that KNOW and love me, they all know exactly who and how I am. Someone that puts on their sunday best may consider that disrespectful 🤷😅
Stumbled on this refreshing video. Gotta say I've never before encountered this genre (is it a genre?) of unabashed, informative, and exemplary "revisitation". It's no doubt a benefit to others-- a psychosocial-cultural- benefit-- to publicly model The Learning Process. Positively teacherly. So regards and best wishes for continually unfolding insights on your path.
the “i know more than u” vibe honestly was thrust onto past-you from everyone who was just finding out about all this, some of them choosing to have you as their only source of information, really difficult position to be in yk (also ngl you look exhausted or maybe tranquil/serene i never know, either way take it easy)
I'm a younger witch, so I got basically dragged into working with three Hellenic deities (Father Hades, Mother Hecate and Lady Persephone) and one norse deity (Loki). Loki has tested me with negative energy a few times, but I am well aware of what is him and what is not. I cleanse, meditate and put my veil on. Mother Hecate and Lady Persephone have (for me) always had extremely regal energy. Father Hades has very calm energy. This is all just my personal experience though. Have a nice day! UPDATE: It was all mother Hecate I am an idiot.
what the gods find disrespectful (in me understanding and belief ofc) is anything that is done with the intention to disrespect them. not as a means to an end, just straight up being disrespectful for no other reason than disrespecting them (bc then that’s the energy you emit and they receive) (while what you do yelling at diana to get her to do something for you is not that bc the disrespect is not the goal here, it’s just the shape of a message, serving another purpose)
As a person who uses hearing aids/is HOH I just wanted to say *thank you for the fantastic captions*! When I saw you even included "chaotic witch aunt snickers" I was like INSTANT LOYALTY. Lol It adds so much color and actually lets me and people like me enjoy your videos (I found this video interesting even though I don't worship any deities atm and don't have any plans to.) I'm now a subscriber, and I'm leaving your videos playing at night sometimes now just to give you more watch time, cuz I hear that helps with the algorithm. I know captions take work, and it is APPRECIATED. So many of your videos look so good. I'm happy to have found you.
@7:07 this actually happened to me! I thought it as Aphrodite because I thought at the time that most witchcraft was linked to Greek gods and goddesses. Turns out (at least as far as I think I can tell now) it was Lilith from Judaism. They have similar signs and are similar deities, and I was raised Jewish so it made a lot more sense when I made that connection! I also was rewatching your "claiming your heritage" video and it helped me decide to start digging into my heritage. I don't know if it would be claiming or re-claiming, but I've recently found out that I'm Sephardic (Mediterranean) instead of Ashkenazi (which I thought I was my whole life lmao) and I've come across a romanian israeli author on Kabbalah and I'm so excited - especially since my family is from romania specifically and from what I've read Kabbalah in most books now is not what Kabbalah really is, like it's been altered and appropriated so much that you have to look specifically for authors like the one I found.
Same I wouldn't be concerned about a spirit or entity pretending to be a god. Deities energetically are so powerful especially if they are present in the space. My body goes through a lot of pressure. With helping others I've found it more likely that a spirit will trick someone by pretending to be an ancestor or animal so that they may try to feed off offerings.
current favorite offering of mine to thoth: wrote a chapter of a fanfiction for him before my lit final current favorite sign from thoth: put an ibis bird outside my house that is in a state where ibis birds are not native animals 10/10 would recommend
It was frustrating as a newbie in the beginning where a lot of info about deity work/worship was heavily (and still is sometimes) pushed to be "dangerous" and how you can run into a "bad spirit" with no protection. It put me off for years but I finally said fuck it and just did my own shit, and it all worked out and I have still never even encountered a harmful spirit. I also thought about why deity "work" was any different to worship when really it is a blurred line, like you say. Also the conflation of deity work being witchcraft and pagan interchangeably confused me for a while, but now I realise that I am indeed pagan, and not a witch.
I think the main way people get tricked is people not understanding and recognizing the energies (if it is another entity posing as a deity) or people being imitated by the fact they may be talking to one that they ignore the signs it isn't. I have heard stories of people being taken advantage of by entities for the latter reason. That second reason I would say is more with entities that are much closer to deities rather than spirits posing as them.
I'm reacting to your reactions via this comment; 1:50 Good point, I will also add that some people hop into magic in the first place because a deity or entities approaches them (this was me with Santa Muerte via a dream and Tiamat via a meditation) 4:28 those bad boys are also my favorite candy
Hiii❤ love your content. Hope you’re doing well! Thank you for all the information, it’s always interesting to see how we change within our opinions, and self growth!
It's fun to see you revisit these. As someone who is significantly older than you, it's entertaining and intriguing to see you evolve as a witch and a person. I do always have a reaction like "be kind to and patient with your old self, Frankie!" Although I can und understand the temptation to feel exasperated, as you are basically documenting your evolution and maturation... It's all good.
Just coming across your youtube now but im a follower on tik tok and a lot of your changed views hit home for me. I was science based but felt a draw and a lot of signs I was being reached out to for deity work and i was a skeptic (still am) but that only seems to have made that calling stronger somehow. Three things Ive learned as a witch finally openly practicing is, every opportunity is an opportunity to learn, even failures, to stay curious and openminded, but lastly, to be skeptical and question everything. Something that may seem magical could have a perfectly mundane explanation and likewise if something keeps happening, like a repeat tarot draw, or noticable changes in your environment may indeed be magickal and warrant investigation. Its a give and take and you cover that beautifully. Thank you!
Aside from really enjoying the content of this video, I’m now a little jealous of TH-camrs - you have such a concrete example of who you were 2 years ago and can pinpoint how you’ve changed. That’s really nifty!
I honestly think how ridged our ideas of deity work back in 2020/2021 made it so hard to understand what “doing it wrong” felt like. I thought that bc I couldn’t read tarot properly that that meant i wasn’t ready for worship because I couldn’t talk to the deity i wanted to, i stopped worship all thought her for years because I couldn’t perfectly communicate with them. Like they have to be communing with us all the time for worship to be valid. Ive had it in my head that that deity has left me completely or no longer has my best interest simply because i was nervous.
i love this video so much. its taken a weight off my shoulders. ive always been so scared of worshipping deities cause im scared of not being protected/disrespecting them and getting punished.
I personally find mixing roman and celtic (more specifically gaulish) deities interesting because it historically was made for example diana abnoba in the black forest or appolo and cernunnos
i was about to say it’s such a myth that those “pantheons” are at odds or hate each other. so much more nuance and cultural syncretism. gallo-roman stuff ? so freaking cool. glad someone commented this
Can you provide examples of some of the things you are saying? Which deities can’t be worshiped apart from the religion/pantheon they come from? What is considered removing a deity from their cultural context? Which pantheons don’t get along? What should altars look like? This is very helpful, especially considering how your practice has changed and what precautions are no longer deemed necessary. Thank you!
I am so thankful for this video. Around this whole witchcraft bubble there seems to be the trend to say "I don't recommend deity work when you're not an advanced practitioner .... Just like i am" and spreading fear and claiming how dangerous it is if you're not an absolute pro. To me, that always sounds like bragging and I find it very annoying. Under your former video there was a girl talking about how she feels connected to Joan d'Arc..which is really cool. But someone felt the need to "warn" her, that she knows this could be in no way this specific Saint but rather something evil and dangerous and she should stop immediately. Without knowing any details about the practice of this person. I don't understand why people are doing this. (Oh and btw I didn't feel like you where doing what I described above. Of course i don't think all people who are giving these tips have bad intentions. I just feel like there is a trend to do so.)
I used to not watch this channel bc of the info she just kinda spouted out but it's really nice to see an authentic transition into more comfortable and educated ways of practicing
Diety work for me was when the goddess came to me asking me to serve her she offered help me on my journey in witchcraft. She turn up speak to me very nicely she is supportive all the time. She took me astrally to a place that looked like something from the past. But there l learnt a lot from her inside her domain. Diana likes hunting but she only would kill for food, she loves her dogs and never ever kill anything without a reason. Never break a oath, they will abandon you. Deities are very fussy but she improved my ritual vastly by her explanation of how to approach the God's
I appreciate your more relaxed view of working with deities now, I think I have avoided it in the past because I am neurodivergent and have depression, and it always seemed like too much work and responsibility for my mental health. I have been practicing witchcraft on/off most of my life, but have never worked with a deity. This year I had a feeling there was deity reaching out to me, but I wasn't able to figure out what things were signs, I tried my tarot and I got death and light associations which only confused me more. Then on the solstice I had a dream where the Norse god Baldr reached out to me, now the tarot reading makes sense because he is a god of light who dies. Googling had not helped me much because there is not a lot of easy access info on him since he is not as "popular" as a lot of other Norse gods/goddesses.
How can i work with deities if I'm not finely in tune to my psychic senses? I ask this because I hear you talk about seeing, listening, or talking to Diana and while I've become more in tune to my clairvoyance I still don't know how to do all the things you talk about. Can I still successfully worship and work with deities?
Hi, I’m wondering how you petition your deities/request things from them? I find this really confusing as no one really touches on it. Really loved the video btw!
I remember when this video first came out, it’s super interesting to see how both your and my own practices have evolved, thanks for making this video, Frankie!
I think videos like this are great. This is such a good way to measure yourself as a creator with a lot of influence, observe your growth, and acknowledge that sometimes you get things wrong. It keeps us, your audience, understanding that practices grow and change. Also, it's nice to see how much more comfortable you are in front of the camera and how much you have grown as a creator.
I really appreciate that you do revisits of your videos because I just discovered your TH-cam channel recently and have been watching these older ones like ooooh ahhhh okay good to know :) but we are constantly learning evolving and changing in our beliefs and our craft 🥰 its crazy how much we can change in a year!
I'm glad you re-evaluate your older videos. Your original one I disagreed with enough to ignore your content for a long time. My personal experience is actually more in line with this updated reason
Honestly, if I saw my original one, I would've ignored my content too! I'm glad I've grown from it a lot, and I'm incredibly happy that we have similar experiences!
I think with signs from deitys: my belief is at the governance. With freyja, it was dreams and hawks coming together that were her wanting to talk to me. That convergence is what made me be like oh she wants my attention.
If I have to tell about my own experience with deity working/worship/hounouring I have two things I went through in that time: 1) Deities from the same pantheons not necessarily love each other or even want to be on the same altar! The reason is not still clear to me, but it made me think of Pollon😂, which by the way was written by Japanese anime creators. Sometimes deities from different pantheon meet thank to humans and they go along well... or not! Either they represent different aspects of human nature that you don't manifest at the same time or the pantheon that you are referring to was not original to start with. We tend to think of ancient things as much more homogeneous than they were in reality. People did a lot of mix and match from different sources and lands. I agree that at some point you see that even when deities got syncretized (always a human decision or natural process) they still keep separate energies. 2) I had a feeling that deities like to travel, find new context and meet new people who did not know anything about them before. Maybe they feel them as fresh meat to feed on (if you accept a negative vision of deities who can actually harm people or gain worship as not being forgotten, a strategy of survival) or they just felt bored within their traditional context. That could happen. If you think of very long traditions where all the worship is decided by the caste of priests and took along like forever, it becomes very dogmatic or even misused when the names of deities are used to haunt people with fear or punishment. If I were a deity I would be like: Stop using my name, enough with animal sacrifice, gimme some veggies, change the music, give me some fresh air, let me smell new perfumes! Oh, let's see what those ones over there are doing, it might be fun! In any relationship respect should go in both directions, otherwise it becomes a power relation. Some kind of balance must be reached.
I related so much to you saying "my deities talk to me when they want to". I work with certain deities but they come to me if they want to I rarely seek them unless I do need them but even if I send a request IT IS ON THEM WHAT WE DO GOING FORWARD.
I love your videos thank you so much for your help you have really helped me on my journey with witchcraft thank you thank you thank you xx my devotion to hecate is growing everyday. I have even found myself buying amethyst wands before I knew what they were for (I do now). I had never heard of hecate when she reached out to me and I'm so grateful she did x
When I started my practice I worked with multiple pantheons but never really committed to it they all have alters in my astral sanctum, I still make it a poit to talk with them because they are my friends but I exclusively work with my Goddess Inari
So I am a atheist witch but I have Decided to make some spells that correlate to the Deities that I like/feel connected to so I can connect to the archetype of them
I watched that video when it originally came out. I was about a year and a half into my practice, and have now successfully also reached the “idgaf” portion of my practice. If someone wants to dive right in, they will learn from it. If they want to wait and do more research, they will learn from it. As long as they’re respectful, I don’t really care, it doesn’t really affect me. I started deity work after I learned how cleansing worked, had no clue how to banish or really set up good long term protections and part of my learning that was with the help of my deities. Deity work is a foundational piece of my practice and I wouldn’t have it any other way. They’re some of the best mentors I’ve ever had
How i know a deity is reaching out is that at the time i wasnt practicing anything nor was paganism even something in my thoughts. Coming from a monotheistic background (not anymore), the only thing i was doing was shadow work and really focused on self development. Then randomly I started seeing specific deity names constantly, or id randomly have their name pop into my head even when im focused on something completely unrelated like work or at a party, dreams, visions, etc. I looked into it then i discovered what certain signs and synchronicities mean per specific deity and i kinda got thrusted into the world of paganism. I wasnt looking for it and tbh it wasnt even in my thought process. Thr deities that did reach out were deities i rarely thought about but now that ive decided to see whats going on, i understand why they were reaching out and it all makes sense now.
I think back then, you and many other creators were careful bc of the possible backlash but now you are much confident when talking about deity work. Also back then, deity work on tt was some what of a craze so I get why you had to emphasize the ‘precautions’.
I really liked this video. Its one of the videos of urs that I listened to fully (sometimes for me just talking about a topic and not really engaging into it is useless. It doesnt help me learn personally.)! I watched the original video as well and learned a few insights on it too as a baby witch (ive been practicing for a year now!!) and helped me set my priorities straight. When you talked about the part of goddesses being similar, it also allowed some insight on the goddesses that I worship. Lakshmi and Athena (I worship Lady Athena) aren’t that different and are kinda goddesses of the same thing ngl. Its fun hearing about your experiences, and I’ve always thought you were so cool working with Lady Diana (just started working with Artemis rn, been a few weeks or a month). Great job on the video!!
I grew up Christian so I added witchcraft to my deity work but I also have always known my deity and have grown up with Him. Now I am looking into other spirits I call on Him for protection as well as other protection methods like visualization
I like both videos, because both have good points, that you will eventually outgrow. I think we can learn a lot from people's UPG. Many folks did similar videos on deity work at that given time. I never felt like deity work or spirit work in general was that big of a deal for me personally, meaning that it was never scary or anything. At the same time, spirit work, which for me is based on animism, has deepened my practice a lot. 🙂 I like your transition to a much more chill approach and I also enjoyed the first video at the beginning of my research process, because it made me pay attention to what I was doing and that made me feel safer as a complete beginner. Different videos are for different types of people or sometimes the same people in different stages of their lives. 🙂
There is definitely a difference in energies between deities and other spirits. Through my own experiences, Ive found that deities energies feel powerful but also kind of "soft" like a rabbits fur, if i could give it a physical feeling to compare it to, while depending on the other spirits and where they come from, ive had "choking" earthly energies, soft feathery energies, and energies that feel like a million eyes staring at me. It all depends on the spirits themselves, but all deities that I've worked with have had a generally similar feeling with some things that differ. Of course the energy of Cernunnos is going to feel different than Lugh, but I can tell from the start that both energies are deity. I hope that makes sense, and for those coming to the comment section for example, this is MY experience, it may be different to everyone else
I can relate with the old fear of saying offensive things... Now I feel like I banter with my main Rn. I used to loooove watching you back then. And that's amazing to call yourself out like that 🖤🌒🌕🌘
i know you didn’t ask but if you ever wanted to do a video explaining basic witch terminology that would be amazing. there’s so many words that i’ve either never heard or have been misconstrued.
I agree with this - growth is natural, it is human, and changing your opinions isn't something to be frowned upon!
I love this! I'll def be doing that.

Oh my god YES boundaries for yourself and what you can handle is so so important!!! And it’s different for everyone ❤️🔥
Plus the power level is nowhere near close so I don't think it could be mistaken ( like you said)
I just LOVE how Frankie show that they had changed, and show how they dont relate to many of the things that they believed before, they r literally showing us in practice that our practices will surely change, and that there's no problem with it, Frankie, if ur reading this, ty, ur a BIG inspiration for us ❤️
ich glaub du hast da ein paar kommentare durcheinandergewirbelt. aber schön, dass wir anscheinend die gleichen videos gesehen haben. ;D

Thank you! I felt an urge to reach out to Lucifer despite being Catholic, and God gave me the ok to work with him, and he seems to like me! I’m doing more research on him and he’s different than I thought! He is very kind and honest and I am excited to see myself change.
I’m thinking I may work with him too, but maybe I’ll do Loki
How do you talk to him? I’m trying to find a technique that works for me
@@my_universe1290 Personally, I use my pendulum with a letter board the majority of the time. Otherwise with tarot, clairaudience, or dreams
How did you communicate with God to ask that if you don’t mind me asking?
I had a very strong urge to respond to this, but that is genuinely so cool. My relationship with Christianity & catholicism is very strained and I feel like this comment alone healed that a little bit
i am so so happy to see you revisit this !!! i'm VERY glad that you've revised the idea that working with deities is an "intermediate/advanced" practice; it's one of a few things you've said in the past that i disagree with pretty strongly, for pretty much the exact reasons you list here !!!! we love an icon who grows and changes their opinions in light of new insight and maturity!!!!
the second the 'Aphrodite and Persephone---' was mentioned in the old video i just internally died
Lol so I started witchcraft October of 2020 and watched this video because I wanted to work with Loki in like, that December, and I got so freaked out that I could've been communicating with a trickster lol. I asked a lokean group their thoughts and they were like
"of course you're communicating with a trickster. he's the trickster god you dork!"
just reminiscing now that I do consider myself quite a bit more experienced lol (obviously I am still pretty beginner, but at least now I know all of the basics and have a good footing in a few areas of interest!)
I'm crying XD 3:16 with automatic English captions,
"I just have given up on trying to talk to my babies, they talk to me when they feel like it."
alternate title:
chaotic witch aunt has character development
they really went “i think i- i think i know more about american girl dolls than you do, genius”
but replace american girl dolls with deity work
Me two years ago definitely had this vibe.
"I need a shot" everytime I think about the past
i've gone back and forth between wanting to work with deities and not, and one of the main reasons i'm hesitant is because i don't like the idea of doing things "seriously," as in praying every day, big altars, tons of offering. so when you talked about it being more casual for you now, it really encouraged me to maybe give it a shot :)
There's so much fear mongering over deity work but it's been the best thing I've done and I wish I had found it a decade ago.
i laughed so hard at the kit kat thing
two things that alway throw me for a loop when talking about deity work:
-the "imposter deity" thing feels incredibly christian, not going to lie. I've seen a plethora of creators who work with Greek deities warning people about "vetting" the entity you're talking to, but then again, what kind of entity would be powerful enough to impersonate a deity in the first place? I found nothing about that while reading primary sources, so I assume it just never happened. (I feel the need to plug @Fel the Blithe , she makes great content and touched on the subject in her protection video);
-really? we're going to keep pretending Aphrodite and Persephone loathe each other? and for what, lusting over the same guy once? that's a bold statement to make, considering how they barely appear together in myths.
finally, as a personal note: both Aphrodite and Persephone tend to be a little passive aggressive towards me, especially in readings, so I'm sure joking at a deity's expense every once in a while is not a crime :P
Thank you for this video Frankie!!! I always thought I had to eventually focus my practice to deity work, so thank you for being gracious enough to look back on your old videos and being able to correct what you’ve said.
Of course. I'm constantly changing and so is my practice - and you guys deserve to see it!
Video idea, a bit more indepth video on reading tarot, I'm having a hard time learning, and the videos I see never really help and your videos are always the most helpful. Have a great day!!🤗
Much agreed on THIS ONE! 💯♍💯
Seconding! Esp how to read intuitively. I can never remember the card correspondences 😬

I'm a big fan of this series. It promotes being okay with saying "I was wrong" and thats not really something folx online are okay with, for some reason 🤔
Always a delight to watch you, Frankie!!
I love your ability to revisit an old video and react authentically to it- you’re not trying to stand up for an old ego
"and Diana is like hell yeah rain"
This made me laugh more than it should have 🤣🤣
You are so chill now. Love to see the growth
Lol
It adds so much color and actually lets me and people like me enjoy your videos (I found this video interesting even though I don't worship any deities atm and don't have any plans to.)
I'm now a subscriber, and I'm leaving your videos playing at night sometimes now just to give you more watch time, cuz I hear that helps with the algorithm.
New here but there is some serious growth here! Nice to see someone who is so open with the fact that we all change.
I work with dionysus and sometimes his offering are dick jokes most of the time 🤷🏻♀️
Omg I thought it was just me that he did that to 😂😂😂
Same I wouldn't be concerned about a spirit or entity pretending to be a god. Deities energetically are so powerful especially if they are present in the space. My body goes through a lot of pressure. With helping others I've found it more likely that a spirit will trick someone by pretending to be an ancestor or animal so that they may try to feed off offerings.
current favorite offering of mine to thoth: wrote a chapter of a fanfiction for him before my lit final
current favorite sign from thoth: put an ibis bird outside my house that is in a state where ibis birds are not native animals
10/10 would recommend
Ahhh, love this take! I wasn't even thinking about entities closer to deities in this video, but it's such a good reason. Thank you!
I'm reacting to your reactions via this comment;
1:50 Good point, I will also add that some people hop into magic in the first place because a deity or entities approaches them (this was me with Santa Muerte via a dream and Tiamat via a meditation)
4:28 those bad boys are also my favorite candy
That’s a fantastic point!
i was about to say it’s such a myth that those “pantheons” are at odds or hate each other. so much more nuance and cultural syncretism. gallo-roman stuff ? so freaking cool. glad someone commented this
This video actually helped me so much, thank you for clarifying your original video
Thank you!
when you said "hell yeah rain 🤪!!!" i felt that
I am so thankful for this video.
My pronouns are they/them, but thank you so much for your comment! I wouldn't have watched my channel either a couple years back.
Here at 111 views, love seeing the confirmation on your videos.
We love seeing the growth! Not many people would be comfortable roasting themselves
Hi, I’m wondering how you petition your deities/request things from them? I find this really confusing as no one really touches on it.
Really loved the video btw!
I'd also like to know how this works
Same, all the videos I watch don’t really say anything
Will make a video on this!
Thank you!!!
Thank you for allowing yourself to be wrong. It helped me seeing someone I look up to be human.
I love seeing your growth. I’m there with ya ❤
yeah i used to not like ur takes n content for reasons u talked abt here, so props to u for makin this vid!! that's growth babey
I’m finding all these revisiting vids really fun! The way your views have changed is really interesting
I really, really appreciate the revisiting old topics you're doing!
If I have to tell about my own experience with deity working/worship/hounouring I have two things I went through in that time:
1) Deities from the same pantheons not necessarily love each other or even want to be on the same altar!
I'm learning what deities like what and their demeanor.
I love your honesty. You're awesome. This is awesome.
I love this video. It’s good to see how we’ve grown. It also says that we are still growing and learning more. Wonderful!
"I love paying myself"
-Chaotic Witch Aunt, 2022
When I started my practice I worked with multiple pantheons but never really committed to it they all have alters in my astral sanctum, I still make it a poit to talk with them because they are my friends but I exclusively work with my Goddess Inari
this video is so important thank you
So I am a atheist witch but I have Decided to make some spells that correlate to the Deities that I like/feel connected to so I can connect to the archetype of them
I watched that video when it originally came out.
Please tell me the Witch Pain Counter is here to stay🤣 I loved it
I think back then, you and many other creators were careful bc of the possible backlash but now you are much confident when talking about deity work. Also back then, deity work on tt was some what of a craze so I get why you had to emphasize the ‘precautions’.
These are some of my favorite videos of yours. I love seeing your growth.
Thank you! That video was very helpful! 😊
I like your transition to a much more chill approach and I also enjoyed the first video at the beginning of my research process, because it made me pay attention to what I was doing and that made me feel safer as a complete beginner.
Super happy you decided to revisit this!
HOWLING. this was hilarious love this video dude.
I can relate with the old fear of saying offensive things... Now I feel like I banter with my main Rn. I used to loooove watching you back then. And that's amazing to call yourself out like that 🖤🌒🌕🌘
its so good to see your growth
dude the 'one of my deitys doesnt even have an altar yet' full mood😂 ps sorry loki
I work with 3 maybe 4 of the 7 deities i worship currently, has it been a journey, yes.
i know you didn’t ask but if you ever wanted to do a video explaining basic witch terminology that would be amazing. there’s so many words that i’ve either never heard or have been misconstrued.
