Great video. As a person from Krakow, living abroad I really appreciate information. I learned a lot what is worth to show when I come with foreigner friends. Few clarifications. WWII, Krakow was under German occupation but Nazi. (You can think of it as Americans but Democrats left Afganistan.) The General Government (German: Generalgouvernement, Polish: Generalne Gubernatorstwo, Ukrainian: Генеральна губернія), also referred to as the General Governorate for the Occupied Polish Region (German: Generalgouvernement für die besetzten polnischen Gebiete). You cannot find Nazi word there. Wording was introduced couple decades after WWII to change perception ...Germans to Nazi. Kazimierz used to be an island near Krakow, in 10% Jewish (might need to confirm %). You are right a Gettho was in Plaszow a neighbourhood but Kazimierz. Most Jews living in ghetto were later killed in camp created close by the ghetto. Muzeum KL Plaszow will be open in a place of the camp. Please, do not forget about other prisoners & victims than Jews. WWII affected all. Most of our Jews were killed or fleed from Poland. Krakow citizens risked their lives to help them. Also, all polish citizens who educate or were educated in Polish, learning polish langue & history risked their lives. It was forbidden. They risk their lives or being imprisoner in camps. Shindler is famous because of an american movie. However, his lifestyle & intentions are examined neither in movie nor in the museum. I found some information when I was looking for his name on Righteous Among the Nations list. Apteka pod Orlem (The Eagle Pharmacy Museum) is another museum located close by Schindler museum, on a square with chairs you mentioned. There you can find out more about Jewish tragedy, the pharmacy owner, his role & Krakow citizens role in helping Jews during these times. 6 millions Polish citizens were killed by Germans. About 3 M Jews 7 3 M Catholics, and other minorities, many lived in Poland. Oswiecim, Aushwitz: many Poles, later other nations were prisoners there. There is hard to find any Polish family that did not have a family member or friend who was imprisoned or died in one of many camps. First camps were build for Polish citizens. It did happen to our family members. We probably are not enough vocal about it since a Cold War, when it was still forbidden to talk about it.
I've been there and visited seven of the places out of the thirty. I have some work to do! You have to visit Muzeum Lotnictwa Polskiego. I was there this year for the open house and air show. It is a must see especially for children.
Great video! Of course my favorites are the restaurant vlogs (the pork knuckle restaurant was mm-good!) Are you still going to the fish store in the food market where you picked out your fish and they cooked it to order?
Thank you! Yes we still go to the fish store and that market regularly. Will have to make an update on it. I'm hungry just thinking about it. Hmmmm maybe I should have put that in top 30! We have a list of restaurants on our list to visit so will be more restaurant vlogs to come
krakow is amazing how much there is to do in itself. April Easter Tuesday you can also head to Kopiec Kraka for Rękawka festival. Kościuszko Mound was great too, sadly the cafe wasnt open when I was there :(. Also damn wish I knew about Hala Forum when I was there. Outside that, I even remember taking like a few hr trip to Tarnów or Katowice via bus early morning to explore a bit then coming back to Krakow
Agree about Schindler's Factory. I visited last month. Expected a lot more about Schindler. Didn't really see the point of the Nazi peek show at the start either.
One of your best videos, great work
Wow, thanks!
@@planetkrakow Your comments/insight on each pick are valuable and appreciated.
A great listen for future travelers to Krakow!
