Great vid guys! I bought a secondhand sierra and still have it 20 years on without issue. Best 10ks i spent, plus it handles everything stock-standard. Great little off road vehicle, especially if you can't splash the cash, yet want to experience the off-road culture. 👍

Great vid guys, appreciate your approach to the older 4 WD's. I bought a 1986 Range Rover classic, did a 2 inch lift, fitted an ARB air locker in the back and fitted muddies on standard rims. Never had so much fun with my clothes on. Went everywhere did everything, simple to repair, economy wasn't really a concern, had many great 4wd trips with the family.

Worked at a Auto scrap yard Old man comes in Talks with the owner ...I am outside at the coffee truck on break The old man comes out ..You know your boss is a real cheap skate ! offering me $200 for my son's car ..I know its worth more than that ...(longer story short) I bought it for $300 It had a rare V6 5-speed in it which it ran very quick as the same engine was for Vans The boss was pissed as he did not know the engine alone people would pay $800 for it alone ..Anyways I asked the old guy ..dont care whats wrong with it but if thier is tell me....He says it bogs now and then I think it needs a tune up for sitting so long..(89,000kms on it) I drive it home with plates off a crushed car ( Ilegally) And half way home i hit a bump And the car starts bogging down And verrrret boom veeerrrt pa pa poof pa ....zoink I start smelling burnt wires????? noooo Burnt rubber? yeah burnt rubber.....Underneath the car the catalytic converter is glowing White The undercoating rubber almost a foot away is bubbling like a witches iron pot ..Fart And the car would be in flames I see a guy with a hose watering his flowers And run over Mister Mister I need you're hose my car is going to catch fire there is smoke coming from under it...we run over he sprays it And as all the steam comes out He chuckles...And says Not even a day off lol.....I ask him what do you mean?......He says ....I'm a firefighter....
I figure out the cat is clogged with a chunk of it's self Stop every 5 mins And check the underside..Get home and start cutting
Had the car 11 years And still sold it for more than i bought for

Great video again, I bought a 2004 Discovery 2 full service history one owner. Incredible vehicle off road and can keep up with the modern stuff, however you do need to be aware of the "known issues". It is also my daily driver and has not let me down. Preventative maintenance is the key. Cheers.

Great video, it's nice to see the Mitsubishis getting a little bit of recognition. If you're new to 4wding..you'd be forgiven if you thought there were only 2 Japanese contenders.
I own a 2001 NM that's been in the family since 0km and it's just clocked 130k. Super comfy and just waiting for the chance to pit it against a few friends cruisers and patrols 😉

I buy Pajero iO at auction here in Japan; usually get one Shaken, run for a total of three years and than scrap. Seldom pay more than 100,000 yen (bid) but the auction extras add up. Had about five, rather less aggressive than the one in the clip. Buy at around 20 years old with some 80,000 km on the clock. Known as the last owner approach to motoring. I live up a slope and in winter you really need FWD and diff-lock, obviously on snow tyres. Seldom go through a winter without damage. The LSD friction disk is probably worn out, but it's not an issue. At around 100,000 km one of the stems that take the high tension to the plugs will short out, so grab a few spares when the opportunity presents itself. Down side is poor fuel economy, but scrapping is free here in Japan. So any problem that seems expensive to fix, then the clunker is heading for the great car park in the sky.

I love older 4wds too. Cause I can fix it myself! I have a 99 Jeep XJ and I have pulled many late model 4wds out of the mud with it! I will keep it forever!

Purchased an older sierra. Met the owner and followed them back to their place. The car clearly did everything it was ment to (and well) so I didn't bother test driving it. Purchased it, shipped it to my place and have driven it less than 100k's as clutch, transfer, gearbox, rear diff, cooling system and exhaust are all shot and needs replacing.
Silver lining tho a good chunk was going to be upgraded anyway so the list just got a little longer

Used car service history doesn't tell you how many accidents it has been in, how much the vehicle has been thrashed, etc. If you can afford to buy new you should especially when it comes to 4wds. Don't be the sucker that buys someone else's problems.
