  • Join the Landscape Project on an enlightening journey through Devon's diverse landscapes.
    We put a magnifying glass to the rugged terrain of Dartmoor, as Nathan Chrismas unravels the ancient origins of it's granite tors, offering a glimpse into the geological forces that shaped this enchanting landscape. Then we head over to the limestone crags of Chudleigh Rocks, and explore Devon's pivotal role in unravelling the mysteries of the Devonian period, a crucial chapter in Earth's prehistory.
    The Landscape Project is a short film series reflecting on climber and hill walker's perspectives on the geological wonders that surround them. The series explores Malham, Pembroke, The Lake District and Devon whiles underscoring the profound connection between adventurers and the natural world.

    Chudleigh is where I learnt to climb outside and Dartmoor is what made a me a climber. What a special place. So important weather climbing, bouldering running what ever it may be. In Devon we are so lucky.

    Pedant correction. Dartmoor has been ‘occupied’ since at least the Mesolithic not Bronze Age. It arguably would also have seen small numbers of ‘modern humans’ through the Palaeolithic but there is a paucity of archeology to evidence this. If you want to see some great Neolithic archeology then take a trip to visit the Neolithic Tor Enclosure on White Tor (for context this predates the Bronze Age).

      You're absolutely right, and I've run through the Neolithic enclosure on White Tor many times! Should have said since 'before' the Bronze Age. Thanks for the extra info 👍
